How Do You Store and Organize Your Collection?

I like the replies! Everyone is very organized and that's great! :D

I do have a personal question today. I'm debating whether or not to keep my Ultra Rares in KMC "Perfect-Fit" sleeves, then Ultra Pro sleeves, and finally a Monster binder. Alternatively, I'm also considering sending the cards into PSA (primarily for the cases but many would score 10s). I like the cases a lot for display purposes but obviously it would cost a lot to do this and the cards can't really be seen side-by-side.

Thoughts?

I have heard bad stories about slabbed cards. I can tell you the plastic used to slab is not inert.

Holo rares, Ultras, Secrets and RHs are organized in a binder of 9 card sheets by set. Everything else is sorted by collector number (and set) in a five column card box. This system makes rotation for Modified really easy to organize with. Just pull out the first X sets being rotated and move up accordingly.

Most of my collection isn't worth very much. My favourites stay on my desk in a sleeve and toploader, while the other vaulable ones stay in my binder (with my base set and jungle collection). (I have one binder, which I got from my sister. It's this one.) Most of my collection is c/uc/regular rare, so I store most of those in a large cardboard box, sorted in piles by era, and then by set and by number (the ol' ocd kicking in). I could take a picture if I have time...

So does anyone use the ultra pro or monster a4 folders? If so which do you prefer? And why do you use them over ring binders?

I've been collecting cards off and on for the last 12 or so years. Just a few weeks back, I became re-interested in the Pokemon TCG.

So far, how I've been storing my collection is...

Any kind of holos (reverse holos and otherwise) are put into penny sleeves, then a top loader, then those are stored in a tin inside of a drawer.

Then I have two 2" D-ring binders outfitted with Ultra Pro 18-pocket side loading pages, which are organized by set and set number.

Any duplicates are stored in penny sleeves inside of tins, similar to the holos.

I don't really organize the duplicates or rares, mainly because I have an online catalog I keep updated. So, whenever I get new cards, I register them in the catalog so I know the exact number of cards I have and which ones from which sets. I know I should organize the cards physically in addition to this, but I only have a single friend who collects, and we scarcely trade anyway. :p

Does anyone know how many Ultra Pro pages fit in a 3 ring binder?

Depends on the size of the binder, but I try for about 20 per 1/2 inch.

Oh gee I'm so unorganized compared to you all. ;~; My lame cards go in one of my several tins (or just sit on top of my dresser for weeks at a time before I feel like putting them in one of my tins), and my Ultra Rares/Holos go in an MLP:FiM tin I got a while ago from Hot Topic. It's really wide, and I keep a rolled up sock in there (one that doesn't have a pair, hehe) to keep the two sides from bouncing around too much. Left side is EXs, FAs, and overall cards that I really like, all in Ultra Pro sleeves. Other side are holos and stuff like that, again, Ultra Pro sleeves. Pretty small collection but I've just recently got back into the TCG. And both of those sides of the tin have about 60 or so junk cards on top of them, for some extra weight and safety.

Have yet to buy a binder, even though I have an old one full of mediocre cards from the Base Set on that my mom found for me at the Goodwill when I was really young. It's too big and I'd rather buy new card holder pages. When I see them I just get worried that my cards will get bent with one wrong move. :c

Yes a 3 in binder can hold 120 pages. However that is a lot of weight. I don't know if I can recommend that many in one binder. Does anyone have their favorite card displayed at all? I have been looking for some way to display a few of my favorite cards. How about some pictures of how you all store your cards.

I want to put a favorite on my desk. There are stands built to display cards but I am reluctant to buy one because I also like to have my cards tucked away safely. :p

I can see that especially with sunlight fading the cards.

On a side note based on recommendations here I ordered an ultra pro binder and card sleeves. Now I have a great way to store the 2 booster boxes of legendary treasures I purchased.

Does anyone have any autographed items such as cards? I'm wondering what is the best way to store them to preserve the signature.

tbh...
every card of vaulue or rareity goes into a penny sleeve then into a top loader then into a team bag, then into a sorter box out of sunlight lol. i want them to last forever

Thank you. I wasn't sure if eventually the signature would wear off over time.

For signatures I would use http://www.the2buds.com/sumytrcd.htm Instead of penny sleeve.

I've got three folders I got specifically for cards, but they only hold 2-300 cards each. I've also got 3 3inch folders with the rest of my cards in, sorted by set, then by card number, so i can see what i do and dont need

I personally store my cards by playability. I feel this way it is easier to find a card when I'd like to use it for a deck. I sort them in generally this way. Cards in top teir decks plus possible techs, useless cards and possibly playable cards plus trainers. I know there is a need to judge which categories cards go in, but I feel that this method works best. Hope this helped:)

Very interesting seeing how everyone organizes their cards. I am debating filling up my empty binder with cards for a 2nd deck or cards I can swap out on in my deck on the fly as needed.
