Hurricane Irene

Adding on to ^ that
Fill your bath tub with water. That is an easy way to have a good amount of clean water in case anything happens. And make sure your cat doesn't jump into the bathtub once filled (happened to my mom's friends in Houston during some hurricane a few years ago lol)

Exactly what my parents did, seems like a very good idea. So yeah, Glaceon, remember, high ground. Good Luck

I feel horrible for the people effected by Hurricane Irene. Good luck to everyone effected.

Good luck! Everyone effected will remain in my family's prayers.

MSN says six are confirmed dead (although, to be fair, one man died of a heart attack), and at least one is missing in N. Carolina. Good luck to everyone affected, take caution and be safe.

I was on vacation in Virginia Beach, and before we left, people were boarding up their windows with wood to protect their shops! On the boards there were signs saying "Go away Irene", and "Irene loves salt water taffy", etc. I live about 5-10 minutes away from New Jersey, so I am still going to get hit by the hurricane, but i'm not scared. I actually wanted to watch the hurricane in Virginia Beach! The weather channels are now saying that tornados are likely to develop from the thunderstorms caused by hurricane Irene. There was tornadoes that already touched down in Norfolk, VA, and Delaware!

I'm in Louisiana, so its rare that a hurricane ISN'T after me haha. But yeah, I hope everyone stays safe.

Where I am, they said the hurricane was going to be awful, especially now, but its barely windy outside. Its rained all day, but I'm on a hile, so flooding isn't a fear, but I'm sleeping in the basement tonight. The hurricane was overfeared. Supposed to break a lot of stuff, but isn't that strong. (like LostGar).

Do you live in North Carolina? Cause that's were they said its going to be bad. The Hurricane is past North Carolina isn't it?

No, I live in Maryland. Thats most likely why it isn't that bad.

Not according to a news site.

Uh, do you honestly think that?

What? Everyone said that the hurricane was going to destroy everything in its path. It hasn't, which I'm glad about. I think it was overfeared because everyone was expecting no power for 4-6 days, and it isn't most likely going happen. Not that I want bad things to happen, I was just expecting something so, so, so much worse. Like no power.

If its the LostGar comment....

You're wrong. Irene is feared because of flooding. Basically, it's hitting everything along the coast, from North Carolina all the way to main. The wind is blowing in water from the ocean to the shore, and then there's still the rain problem. Considering that the Northeast is also not used to this kind of weather, and how populated it is, Irene is a problem.

Power was out for 45 minutes, although I think Bloomberg shut it down purposely.

Finally back

Power hasn't gone out for me. I didnt know about the flooding, but I'd imagine it's a problem, as it's been raining all day.

I had a bad feeling flooding would be a problem with Irene, I just hope it's not as bad as Katrina was in 2005. You know about 20 years ago back in 1991 there was a Hurricane that hit the East Coast just like Irene and it was Bob, heck my stepdad was also involved in that storm in terms of rescue efforts. Granted I was 8 years old when it happened so I didn't know much about it or what was going on at that time.

I remember how bad Katrina was with all the flooding from watching the news, it was a nightmare. I just hope it's not as bad with Irene over in the East Coast. Granted there is no levee system in New York and other provinces in that region cause it's usually unprepared for those kind of scenario's. How bad was the storm surge from Irene and are we witnessing another Katrina event?

I'm just curious...
