Hydreigon-EX and Double Dragon Energy from ‘Emerald Break!’ [3/9]

Gee, I never saw the effect of Double Dragon Energy coming. ;p Most predictable card ever.

Hydreigon EX interests me solely because it means we're probably getting a Dragon-supporting Stadium in this set. Not that it's surprising, but hey, I don't think we had any indication of this necessarily being the case already. Its attack is bad (seriously, it couldn't have been 90 damage like every other Shred attack in existence not on Gabite?), and its 3 retreat means its ability doesn't even give itself free retreat. Though he is a basic, and his ability will always be in effect barring things like Silent Lab or Wobbuffet since once a Stadium is in play, there's very few ways to get rid of it without playing a new one. (With Primal Groudon-EX probably being the least uncommon.)

Double Dragon Energy looks like a godsend, but will it be enough to bring them back into the spotlight? There are so many enemies of Special Energy in the format, and having to rely on Special Energy cards to attack quickly could spell disaster. It might be too little, too late for Dragon-types unless this set sees more support than a bad Pokemon-EX with bad retreat and a bad attack.

It's a godsend to Kingdra. Not being able to power up one in a single turn was so, so annoying. Now you can drop it and a Water/Lightning in the same turn (preferably Water) and attack immediately. And discard just it, so they can't Enhanced Hammer it. The fact you can't put it on a Horsea/Seadra sucks, but eh, you can't have everything.

Well, it's good with Kingdra, but not that much. I'd rather see how it can help out Garchomp if we get another Dragon search engine.

Noivern, possibly? I know it's still a dumb concept and very gimmicky, but it could work.

And Of Course as I had predicted the M Latios is NOW a great card :) In one turn (double dragon + turbo "card" - which is a dark patch for megas - it exists 0.0 ) you can power this guy up and snipe for 120 which isn't bad. Imagine a pair with the crobat line!

This set is becoming more interesting as time goes by and I believe it will be the best one this year.

LIST OF THINGS WE HAVE YET TO SEE:
1)THUNDURUS EX
2)DEOXYS EX
3)LATIOS EX
4)GALLADE EX
5)M GALLADE EX
6)TURBO ENERGY
7)ANOTHER GREAT SUPPORTER CARD OR ITEM OR DRAGON STADIUM

:) of course MRay will be the best deck in the format ^.^ I can't wait

Double Dragon energy, predictable as it was, is interesting but since being special energy and limited to four per deck means it's actual use is very limited. Especially since a lot of the current dragons need at least three energy a piece to attack unless something in this set changes that.

Hydreigon EX has nice artwork. The ability might see some use depending on the what kind of dragon stadium we see. Kind of a lame damage amount for an EX that needs three energy to attack, even with the effect.

It's a shame a lot of what's going to be good with DD energy is most likely going to be rotated 3 months after the set is released. Latias and Latios EX from Plasma Freeze become a whole lot more playable now. (So do Black and White Kyurem EX). We also lose Altaria.

Hydreigon's okay, but I think it would have been better had it's attack done 10 more damage. We'll have to see what other Dragons we're going to get from this set.

Ohai Double Rainbow Energy

Hydreigon is kinda lame though, but it could be interesting if we get a good Dragon type attacker in the set.

Oh man, hopefully they don't bring any weakness support to the dragons, time to see what florges can do xD

It's actually kind of weird. Most set previews have shown all EX's by now, and yet less than a week until Emerald Break release we still haven't seen four of them.

Oh, that's right, I completely forgot about Noivern! Dx My TCGO Troll deck is about to become even more trolly. :p

And even Goodra is some sort of an option now. I love how most things are being more and more playable. :D

I'm looking forward to seeing Double Dragon Energy's English version in May. This will work wonders, especially on the likes of Salamence, and Dragon Vault's Latias and Latios. I can see Rayquaza and Kyurem benefiting from this, too.

I'm wondering if we could start to see new Aromatisse Varients using Dragons and Double Dragon energy. Double Dragon Energy can be moved around as long as it stays attached to a Dragon type Pokemon. You could even take advantage of Thundurus EX and use it with Dialga and Palkia from Plasma Blast (both Plasma and Dragon so it works).

The Hydreigon EX is ok, it has 180 HP and could be used as a pyroar counter after xy on rotation without having to evolve even though it would still need to attack twice. The double dragon energy is going to help make a lot of the dragon type pokemon more playable.

The most recent Flygon could be more playable now with the double dragon energy as not just draw support but also can attack with just 2 energy attachments, 1 being Dragon energy.

About Hydreigon-EX... seriously? 80 Damage??? I don't know if the ability makes up for this...
On the other hand, Double Dragon Energy is pretty much what was expected (meaning: awesome effect) and not having any drawback (other than being a Special Energy of course) is relieving. I hope it actually makes the Dragons more playable...

Hydreigon is driving me crazy right now. They really couldn't have made it do 10 more damage and have 1 less retreat? That would have made him infinitely more playable. Meanwhile double dragon is awesome and makes mega latios less completely useless I guess.
