Hypnotoxic Laser (Plasma Storm # 123) {12/25/12}

You've got an effective PlusPower that you can't play more than 1 of per turn (for added poison effect), plus with a 50% chance of inflicting sleep as well. Definitely not a bad card, by any means. I know many people who run weird Raticate decks will want to run this, since it nearly eliminates the need to have Devolution Spray for Amoonguss. Virbank Gym decks, like Scolipede BCR, will also use this card a lot.

Will it fit in every deck? No. The only card you can really compare this to is PlusPower, and Hypnotoxic Laser you can't dump as easily before a Juniper. (Well, technically you can, but the effect won't be as good.) All in all, I think it really depends on the deck. That said, Hypnotoxic Laser is not a bad card by any means; it's a spectacular one.

If I were to give this card a number rating, I would give it a solid 8/10, minimum, possibly higher...but no lower than an 8.

Whirlipe+Virbank+Lazer=1HKO Mewtwo for one energy. This is a real problem
That's not a problem; that's an awesomely hilarious solution.

You guys are all saying how this card is great, almost as good as catcher, yadda yadda yadda, but imo the only deck that has the ability to fit this and Virbank is Landorus/Tornadus/Mewtwo etc and almost every deck that doesn't run evolutions.
It is a great card. 8/10 for playability. But the fact that it will be difficult to fit this into most decks kinda stinks. Maybe fit 2 in most decks, but then ull need 2 more spots if u want virbank.
Quad Sigilyph just became awesome.

Actually I don't think Tornadus will have room for this plus Virbank City Gym. It's already running Aspertia and trying to mix them into a single deck and timing Hypnotoxic Laser just right for the 30 damage seems really difficult. However Darkrai/sableye definitely has room for This card and Virbank. In fact Viribank may become a Staple in Darkrai to counter Frozen City. Hypnotoxic Laser is a great card and will definitely see play in a wide variety of decks (including Darkrai) it might get so popular that decks might even start playing Audino. play more switch and possibly Full Heal to counter it.

8/10 Playability ( Splashable in nearly every deck. However it needs Virbank to really pack a punch.)
7/10 Art (It's okay there not really anything that stands out about. It's not terrible but could be better.)

Tornadus would cut aspertia for virbank. It might leave maybe one aspertia, but virbank city gym would be the main stadium. Also, darkrai isn't too weak to frozen city. It accelerates from the discard, not the hand. Finally, full heal and audino will never be played. Switch and escape rope are infinitely better.

Honestly, I think that this is going to severely hurt Tornadus. The main, if not only reason its good right now is because of Aspertia. With almost every deck running Virbank as a result of Hypnotoxic Laser, Tornadus will have a much less secure access to Aspertia. Also, Tornadus itself will have to run some Virbanks or have an inferior Hypnotoxic Laser, putting the usefulness of two situational stadiums in the deck at question.

The funny thing is Tornadus is the only deck that can't use the combo.

Really? Cause you can easily substitute plus powers for HTL and aspertia for virbank.

Why not? It doesnt need aspertia to function. If amything, it helps tornadus because you
r opponent is dropping stadiums for you.

Tornadus and Bouffalant need Aspertia, it's one of the main cards that make it so good. That +20 hp does a lot of things, especially with an Eviolite on top of it.

Idk, Bouff doing 150 to an EX is kinda amazing especially if they become asleep. Then it's a one shot if they don't have a switch

Does anyone think that a Flygon + Hypnotic Laser could be a good combo?
Idea: Run mono-Flygon with no energies using Virbank and Hypnotic Laser. That is 40 damage to the active and 10 to the bench in between turns. The only problem is that you could only use Hypnotic Laser 4 times. I think that maybe Sableye but that would ruin having Flygon active.

Yeah, especially if they were sniped for 30 from Darkrai or Landorus (cause it would be a OHKO).But without Aspertia, Tornadus EX isn't that good IMO. Bouffalant is still the same though.

Actually, aspertia just helps. Its not needed. Your exchanging a little longevity for a ton of more damage. The deck won a battle carnival in japan iirc.

Way to underestimate the Japanese bro.

According to data from Top Cut, FluffyChomp also won an American Cities, so what's your point, DarkVoid?

There are very few Battle Carnivals in Japan, and they award Worlds invitations. There are tons of Cities, and they only reward 1/8 of a Worlds invite.

While there have been Japanese decks that have fallen flat on their face in the U.S., the number of Japanese decks that have actually done well far outweighs that.

That Battle Carnivals mean no more than a single American Cities, which is very, very little.

Sure, but it means that doing well in a Battle Carnival does not mean its all that good a deck.
