I bought one HGSS pack for $2.90 on eBay, and pulled a Double Colorless Energy and a Donphan PRIME. XD
I say money well spent.

I'm happy with what I get. And about the virtual ones that I got from the codes of the packs:

NOTHING. Pure junk.

I have horrible luck with online packs. I think I'm just going to trade the rest of my code cards away. >_>

I picked up an HGSS starter kit at a local Target recently for some more collectors, and in the random inserted pack, I got both a Typhlosion Prime and a holo Ninetails. Definitely money well spent.

I have recently been making a Blastgatr deck as a secondary deck to use, so when in my local games shop I saw blastoise (UL) evolution boosters I picked up 3. All the packs were HGSS, in the first I pulled collector and PONT, second I got communication and third I got Meganium prime. Awesome pulls!
