He's a loser. His Pokémon are weaklings. He's just lucky.

100% with that statement.

1000% with that statement.

10000% with that statement.

Anyways, why does he always leave his pokemon from the previous region at Oak's lab whenever he starts a new adventure? he would seriously own with Sceptile by his side...

Dark Marc, do you think Pokemon would be worth watching if every time Ash battled he'd win in one hit? That's why they put some epic, weird battles ;).
Yea, it would be more realistic...:p

I think he does it to challange himself and to get a chance to work with new Pokemon.
If he had brought Sceptile, then he would've easly won the first few badges and that wouldn't be very fun.
However, when he wins all 8 badges and makes it into the Sinnoh league, he should use some of the Pokemon from Oak's Lab if he wants to win.

Yeah, and the Pokes he catches are crappy. I think in bttles he uses no strategy, *gets poetic* he uses his heart.LOLZ, WUT?

It depends on your definition of good. If your definition of good is to get rid of every single decent Pokemon you have, and refuse to make them powerful enough to actually do anything (he freakin' lost to one of the gyms twice!), then sure, he's good.

I don't really agree with that; sometimes you like to refresh yourself and start over again. It's a real challenge, and it makes life more interesting.

If he had kept every single Pokemon from Kanto, there'd be no fun to the anime. :| Plus, we're able to be introduced to new Pokemon characters, which spices things up, and it's fun to see what new line-ups the trainers get. (I was thoroughly surprised when I heard Ash had a Gliscor and Dawn had a Mamoswine. owo;) Imagine if Ash kept his Pokemon;

*Every battle OHKO*

This doesn't display anything! By training new Pokemon, it shows the ability to change and develop by obtaining new Pokemon and trying to make them the best they can be. As I said earlier, the anime doesn't work like the games really, and you don't blast through things and have a canon team. :s

Ash is the biggest n00b of all time, he uses unevolved pokemon and he sucks at battling. If his pokemon were used in the video game they would be maximum lv -10 and when he faces the elite 4 maybe lv -9 and thats if he does his best to train :p

I agree with TehQiGl 100%. I don't get why people don't understand this.
The anime would be really boring to watch if Ash was unbeatable, and just because his Pokemon don't always evolve doesn't mean he's a bad trainer.
He has to be a good trainer if he can still win without fully evolved Pokemon.

Yh but the point is his oppenents suck for them to lose against him. Im sure it would be so much more interesting if his pokemon were like garchomp, empoleon, dusknoir and so on. Its boring to have weak pokemon because they have limited attacks (excluding pikachu)

this is how it goes:

LOL. I think Ash is a good trainer, but not really good in common sense. He's been tricked by Team Rocket at least 590 times (591 episodes so far, not counting movies)

I think Ash is a awesome trainer. He took Pikachu to the pokemon centre after all those Sperow's attacked him and Pikachu I think that is what make's a good trainer protecting you're pokemon from danger.

He's a 10 year old 10 year old kid with no experience whatsoever and a bucket load of insane luck. Period.
