People are saying that the anime would be boring if Ash became a super trainer. I for one think it's even more boring to see a guy who never improves and wins in the most ridiculous ways. "Ash is a noob" arguments are all in good fun and should never be taken seriously, but it really annoys me when people always bring up that rather flawed point. XD

Having said that, the anime is just plain bad no matter how you look at things. :p

[sarcasm] Noooo, Ash sux really badly. [/sarcasm]

He's not a bad trainer, he just isn't a street-smart trainer. *coughTEAM ROCKETcough*

But he HAS made the top 16 in the Indigo Plateau
2nd round of the Victory Tournament for the Silver Cup
Lots to Tyson in the Hoenn tourney (Tyson ended up winning the whole thing, BTW)
Beat the Battle Fronteir
And has how many badges from Sinoh, now?

Ash has pretty good Pokemon but uses the at the wrong time and he always lets one go in every season and 9 times out of 10 you don't see it again. I think we have seen cameos of Butterfree maybe 2 or 3 times out of the whole series and we have only seen the others if any 1 time since he let them go. So I would say he is a pretty good trainer except for those 2 things and not evolving his Pokemon. So 3 things. Other than those 3 things he is pretty good.:)

Okay here is why ash seems like a Horrid trainer for ONE its all marketing as some guy said. This Is how pokemon goes, they make a new Set of Gen pokemon rememebr the original 151 ? well after a while the fan base grows up ( about 3 to 4 years between each Gen ). They when the kids grow up ASH starts over again with NEW fan base of people who practically no idea of ashes Previous accomplichments ( mostly small children ). Thats how pokemon keeps going, Especially with the anime, Have a story plot going for a bit when the fanbase grows out of it, start over with enw kids same story over just More pokemon.
Think why do they release new pokemon every 3 to 4 years ? cause kids grow up But ash apparantly doesnt. I mean Look at dragon ball z and Naruto. Those animes will eventually get old becuase they dont refresh there fan bas ( well DBZ already Died ) and notice how DBZ keeps coming out with New games for people ? to keep a fanbase going. as How ash will NEVER EVER be the pokemon master or else story is over no more Money for Pokemon. Same story with the games. Ash is pretty much Nintendos ( or pokemon companys ) Prostitute and Nintedo ( or the pokmone cp. ) is the Pimp in Older adult terms,

If Ash had his Charizard, Sceptile, and every other Pokemon with him. He would be great. Though since he doesn't have them anymore with him, he is no longer good in my opinion.

He has alot of experience, and he's been recognized by some members of the Elite Four from various regions for his ability to think on his feet and turn an opponents strategy around. He uses mainly speed, even when he had Torkoal and Snorlax.

Only in recent episodes have we seen him developing trademark strategies such as the counter-shield. Plus, now that Grotle can't move fast he will have to make up for that.

Whatever age group has the most fans, will be the ones the show is directed to. Unfortunately for 95% of the beach, that means that it is boring, little kid stuff.

I say that Ash can beat every Elite Four with his pumped up pokemon so i picked yes and ash has got talent but never uses it.

Ash...a good trainer? Yeah right. He started okay, but then did nothing new. He used to have some decent pokemon then he'd ditch them. His current roster is better than some seasons though, but he's still terrible.

After all he can't fight his way out of a paper bag even with his level OVER 9000 pikachu. Case and point the episode pikachu lost to a wild Elekid in season 9.

I believe Ash Ketchum is a decendent of Aura Guardian because he can sense Auras when he encounters Rilou or Lucario that's why i call him a great trainer.

Reasons that show Ash is a bad trainer :

1. He NEVER EVER evolves his Pokemons, and has only a handful of Fully-Evolved ones ( Charizard, Sceptile, Snorlax, Gliscor etc.) He only uses weaklings that are babies and thats why he always loses.
2. He has a bad habit of letting his Pokemon stay with Prof Oak or have them fully released for stupid reasons, most notably, for the purpose of catching new Pokemons. I think this idea is stupid. :S
3. What else? Oh right! How can I forget his DUMB DUMB LUCK??? He has never EVER won a battle without the involvement of his sheer luck. And LUCK, is something a trainer must never depend on fully.

Reasons that show Ash is a good trainer:
1. .... Ash is a good trainer??? LMAOFFFF !!! :D :D

But blah! :p
Who cares about Ash being a good trainer or a bad trainer anyways? Pokemon, and other popular animes, have been made strictly from people's imaginations, and doesnt concern real life at all. :p

Well, I may be wrong though, it does affect real life, but in a totally different way than we think.
" Its all about the M-O-N-E-Y!!! "
Heck yah, it's all about the money alright, cause the only reason Ash is a " bad trainer" and never evolves his Pokemon or stuffs like that is ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF NINTENDO'S PROFIT.

Just like many people said here, if Ash really had a team full of Fully-Evolved and Highly Trained Pokemons, then he would have been unstoppable, and leading to 1HKOs in any battles he faces, which would make the anime BORING and less attractive TO YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ADORES CUTE LITTLE POKEMONS.

So, Ash being a good trainer + Having a Powerful Team - Children's Attaction to Pokemon = Nintendo's LOSSS

So thats it. That's my point of view. Hope you all share my opinion.
Have a good day! :p
