Pokemon Is Darkrai's Design Based Off of the Slenderman Legend?

I'm pretty darn sure Dakrai was designed YEARS before Slenderman, so I don't think the two designs were casually inspired from each other...

I beg to differ. I have been interested in Slenderman for a while now and have been studying him properly for the last 2-3 months. The origins of Slenderman was just a myth, something that a culture made. The reason that Slenderman actually became 'more' famous is because of the game that was created. But I am just going to say that Slenderman was actually around longer than Darkrai. And also that even though Darkrai and Slenderman has their similarities, their differences outweigh it.

Darkrai is a representation of bad dreams and, consequently, people's fear of darkness. It might be partly based on Morpheus, as previously suggested, but not entirely. I don't think Darkrai is really based on anything. It's a phantom, a nightmare's incarnation. Similarities to the Slenderman are mere coincidence.
