James Cameron's Avatar

awesome cinema wise, it now make's video game graphics look lame. story and concept wise, story was far to cliche with the whole were gonna play dictator and nuke them out of this big tree, not really cool, good to really good concept not my fave but others could disagree by saying it's the best or the worst, comparable to starwars? (looks at the post made above) nothing beat's startwars by personal interest. cya

I just watched it like a week ago.
A Sequel would be nice, but if it ruins the movie. Then I don't want one.

The director seems to know what he's doing. I highly doubt he would make a bad sequel.

Initially, I was very skeptical about a sequel for Avatar. However, I heard from my mother (who helped get the funding for the film) that Cameron had everything planned out for a potential trilogy. He apparently snuck some things into Avatar as foreshadowing.

He wouldn't make a sequel just because 'oh look, this movie made tons of money, LET'S MAKE THE CASH COW GO MOOOOO AND TRY TO MAKE EVEN MORE.' He's doing it because he's wanted to put this project into motion for so long, and now has the technology to do so. I think it's more admirable that he's doing this to pursue creativity rather than make himself even more filthy rich than he already is.

What I find funny is, the tv show Avatar: The Last Airbender has had a movie planned on coming out for so long, and I've finally seen commercials for it. But now its shine has been stolen by these movie taking the name "Avatar" that the real avatar had to drop that part of the name. so saddening.

James Cameron's Avatar had actually been in the works for the last 15 years or so, long before Avatar: Last Airbender... so that claim is a little bit questionable. :p

I just (and finally) saw the movie today, in 3D, it was pretty awesome. I don't get how a sequel would work though...

James Cameron started to write the scriptment in 1994, also the name ''Avatar'' was already copyrighted by then. So with that name already going on for 16 years it's silly to claim it stole the name of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Hmm... Neither do I. The movie seemed perfect for monology (err.. correct word? (just 1 movie without sequels)). Even though I think a sequel may ruin the movie I trust Cameron, he knows what to do. So yeah.. I'm confused but still looking forward to it!
