Japan's XY9 Set: 'Rage of the Broken Sky,' New 'Battle Strengthening Sets'

If you wanted to, Burst Balloon could act as a 1-turn ability lock with Garbodor. Locking your opponent out of abilities on their turn while still being able to use abilities on yours. Like Hex Maniac, but it doesn't take up your supporter for the turn.

I just want to bring up the often-overlooked Skarmory-EX, which isn't the best card, but with its Joust attack could easily counter any upcoming tool-heavy decks. It's a specific niche though, I know. Also (someone else has mentioned this before) Tailspin Piledriver is one of the best names for an attack in the game.

Honestly quite situational and not worth the DCE to pull off. There's no real reason not to just hit hard with your mega/primal instead, since the damage will be much greater. I like where they were going with it, but the cost is too high to be worth it. If they made the second attack cost 1 energy, this would have been an alright tech at least.

welcome to the age of milktank for megas

A worse Miltank, granted getting out a Mega is easier than a stage 2 in most instances, but a DCE for 80 just isn't what it used to be.

A shame too, I like Stantler.

Not horrible, but not something I expect to actually see used, even though it has a slight Miltank-esque role. That extra 10 HP did Miltank wonders. Probably Stantler's best card since EX Unseen Forces, but that isn't saying a whole lot. Still, glad to see it again, as I've always felt it's one of the most forgotten Pokemon.

@Hydrocrush, there is a such thing as being TOO optimistic, and that's exactly what you're doing right now.

It is simply over-costed for that damage amount. Most people would rather use their DCE on the mega itself, if needed. If their mega doesn't need it, they'd rather not waste 2-4 deck spaces for the DCE just to waste more spaces on a Stantler that isn't even that great.

While a positive look at things is generally appreciated, a realistic look at things is even more appreciated.

Yeah worse than Miltank.

However with that new Fighting Spirit Belt Sfantler now has 130 HP, and does 90 damage for a DCE with Mega.

Still not as good but it can 2 shot EXs if it lives I guess. Def a lot more useful ways to use DCEs though.

No stand out Mega's for this card yet. Could be useful if we get a support/ability Mega.

#alreadyonthehypetraintoottoot!

10 Pokedollars says that someone will make a crazy combination in a format with this and Fortress PHF + Forst of Giant plants that will be able to deal 140 damage t2-3 +140 damage every following turn.

Also that artwork is amazing!

The first attack could be used for a DCE with Dimensional Valley, but I don't know if this card will have some kind of serious employment...

P.s. the second attack is not PCCC but PPCC ;)
