It's not a very good case study to leave up because it shows how people react to clickbait. This is already well understood, you're just adding noise.
The subject of the news story does not appear to have, despite the clickbait headline, told his son to "shut the hell up". The subject indicated they were paraphrasing what they told their child, and neither the child nor any witness have stepped up to say how accurate the paraphrasing was or wasn't.
You're not a competent journalist with any leg to stand on insofar as bemoaning the general public's lack of literacy. You wrote a clickbait headline and are mad you're getting a clickbait audience. You get the audience you deserve.
Honestly, this is the *best* thing I’ve read about Vance to date. Sure, he could’ve been more diplomatic toward his son, but given the context, I do at least understand why he said what he said.

This is still you sexualizing things. The subject itself is not inherently sexual. What you don't seem to appreciate is that you are not evaluating anything as an objective impartial observer, you are interpreting everything through your own lens and bringing your own biases with you. In other spaces, I might refer to someone making arguments such as those you are making here as those of a terminally porn-brained individual.
You can of course sit in a corner and obsess about whether some of cards are for the le heckin evil straight men! The rest of the audience is free to enjoy the cards or not enjoy the cards without having to read sexualized takes on them.

Fascinating to see people beg to not bring politics into a game series that is rife with political and moral statements. It's true that, for the most part, Pokemon does not explicitly announce its commentary on our cultures, because that would be alienating. Instead, they choose to present their commentary through subtext and themes. Environmentalism, energy consumption, conservation, criminal and social justice, diversity inclusion, nihilism, rebellion, vigilantism, health care, capitalism, socialism. All of these and many more have been critiqued by the games at one point or another. Because the way the games and other media handle these topics - that being subtle, child-friendly means - it doesn't feel overt and in your face, but the games do reference politic topics with incredible frequency.
It's nice to know the future vice presidents children have good tastes, maybe they'll make worlds one day
