Posts MUST be several sentences long with proper grammar and spelling or they will be deleted - this forum is to discuss specific cards so other people can learn about their potential in the current metagame.

WOOT FIRST!

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
the card doesnt stand much on its own, doing 70 dmg per turn is quite low for a prime. however, if you stack spray splash, you can give 40 dmg per turn to any of your opponents pokemon. deffinetly goes well with damage spreading decks. however, its easily tech'd by a fire type. overall, in my book, taking up 1 bench space just to do 1 damage per turn is not worth it.
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
dunno yet
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
ampharos prime as a stall deck?
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
3/5. bad attack drawback with fire pokemon. pokepower cannot stand by itself. stage 2 pokemon
5. How's the artwork?
pretty nice. i like the background.

I definitely can see it standing well on its own. Perhaps put it behind a spiritomb for few turns to start. I mean you already are stopping trainers AND evolving, NOW with Kingdra's power you can hit anybody for 10 then possibly 20 possibly 30 then 40.

Metagame? its a stage 2 so I can really see it as a tech. Perhaps it stands alone.

The only combo I can think of is spiritomb, so you can sit spread damage and evolve at the same time.

i give it a 7 out of 10. Good attack, you can drag those fire guys out and hit them for like 60 even with the reduced 40. great power, allows for more strategy, spread damage 24 7.

Most all of the Pokemon artwork can be more hardcore in my opinion. The old T tar SF for example, or perhaps the new houndoom purpleish. maybe I am bias for dark. BUUUUT I like the kingdra prime artwork, though i would like to stray away from the brush up action figure clean look the primes have been getting.

i have been doing some major testing and it is FAST! and its not too hard to tech in a kingdra la for fire pokemon (which are rather rare)
1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
It is good and definitely has potential, with crobats, poke turns and SSU paired with spray splash it always has enough to get the OHKO
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
I wouldnt call it a metagame deck but i use it on it's own with luxray Gl X and relicanth, it can also be in kingdra LA
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Alone, with kingdra la and others
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars). I give it a 4.8/5 because it has somewhat low damage output, but can be paired with other cards such as crobat g to up that damage amount
5. How's the artwork?
I love the artwork on this, the swirls in the background are cool

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
Really good in my opinion. One single energy for 60-70 damage is really good. Add in Expert Belt for 80-90.
Though the 20 on Fire decks aren't too good, you are still doing 40 if they are weakness, which they most likely will be.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
It works well with its own deck. Great for sniping also.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Any snipers or spreaders. More Kingdra Primes, XD.
It's Poke-Power is stackable so that's always good. With Crobat G, you will be doing free 20 damage anywhere in one turn.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4.5/5

5. How's the artwork?
3/5, it's okay. Artwork on Prime cards are very...unsurprising and similar.

1. The power of unlimited flash bite is useful and 130HP is not bad and only one retreat cost prevents it from getting stuck up there too easily, and the attack of 60 for one energy is really good, but against a deck with a fire pokemon the power is the only good thing left. The power is always good in many decks and a one candy one line has potential instead of crobat Gs and poketurns.

2. None yet...

3. Cursegar, damage bind ampharos, any deck that uses Crobat G

4. only 3.5/5 due to major unpredictability of the attack against fires and the power is only good with some support to back it up, however, it shows some major potential in the future

5. Really good. like the detail on kingdra itself and the background really compliments kingdra in both the color scheme and the swirl pattern

1. On it's own, it can work thanks to it's Poke-Power. I see it having potential, but Luxchomp will make it unpopular.
2. None yet.
3. Ampharos PT for Damage bind, Cursegar to help with Curse, and pretty much any sniping deck, but Crobat G would probably be chosen over it.
4. I say 7 out of 10. It has a good power and a good damage output, but fails to fire decks. It can also be one-shotted by a Luxray GL X and a Flash Bite.
5. I like the pose Kingdra is in, very regal. The background looks like an ocean, which is nice.

1. I think Kingdra has great power. It's poke power is nce, like a constant flashbite, and Dragon Steam is great.
2. I don't thik he has one yet.
3. He can be used with just about anything, because of his low energy cost and awesome poke power.
4. 4/5 He rocks, but his dragon steam falls short to fire types.
5. 5/5 He just looks cool. Nuf' Said.

1. Kingdra is awesome! It's an attacker, unlike most pokemon used for their Body/Power, and it fits in any deck that has the room.

2. Kingdra might not do so well in the metagame due to its Luxray weakness. I can see a Gengar spread deck with Kingdra working though, for Gengar Lv.X. Anywhere else, it'd work well except in a Scizor/Cherrim deck.

3. Anything besides Scizor and draw pokemon is a combo. The main victory condition is fainting your opponent's pokemon, and that is done through damage (which is what this delivers). An offensive stall deck is now possible with Poketurn, Promocroak, Skuntank G, Mamoswine GL, Turtwig GL, and Alakazam 4. While Skuntank is great, the damage output alone is too little to be worth hurting the enemy. This is where Kingdra comes in. Cresselia Lv.X also now has another way to KO things easier. Metagross LA and Kingdra can make a nice KO team. Bring something weak up, and clobber the opponent with the extra damage aid. It's sort of like how old Haymaker decks worked except with hard to get out, but reusable, Powers instead of trainers.

4. This gets 4/5 stars. Kingdra is great, but not broken. If only it had a Grass weakness or something instead...

5. Eh, I always find the Prime sparkle annoying. Everything else is alright.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
well on its own its decent. 60 for one energy and you can get out 4 and have like 40 damage to spread.
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
idk
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
It can be used with garchomp C and Crobat G. With Spray Splash (say you have 3 Kingdras out) you could do 30 to another pokemon then use Dragon Rush. Then use some flash bites like 2. Giving a potential of about 130 sniping.
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4/5 It's okay. We may see a couple at nats. One will make top maybe 2, But not the best card. Just add one fire card to your deck boom.
5. How's the artwork?
9/10

5. How's the artwork?

1. The card stands great on its own if you avoid Fire and Luxrays. It is best played with Kingdra LA, but anyone who didn't already think that shouldn't be playing Pokemon cards.
2. Kingdra. It's going to have a good showing at Battle Roads and probably an alright one at Nationals.
3. Use it with Kingdra LA and possibly Crobat to get mad donks. That amazing Power with Crobats as well as the LA's attack would wreck many things.
4. 4/5, the Power is amazing with two or three out. Having another great Kingdra and line to work with only makes it better, as well. Will probably lose to Luxray though.
5. Most interesting out of all the Primes this set. Steelix's looks cooler though.

1. I see great potential in the attacks and poke power on this card. If you play this card alone i give it a 3/5. Paired with the right pokemon this card could be beast.
2. I think that two Kingdra primes could fit in nicely in a LA Kingdra deck, maybe they even could become the more dominate line.
3. I see awesome potential in this card with Luxray X. You will be able bring up cheap bench kills that we make up for its low damage output.
4. Everything is about this card gives it a fighting chance in the current metagame. Fast damage, spread damage, and good HP make it a force to be reckoned with. The single con is the one retreat cost. I give this card 4/5.
5 Artwork? Blah, nuff said.

Guiding questions:
1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
IMO it stands very well on its own. everyone has gotten used to the LA kingdra so people get mad that they dont get to spread 20 damage. but the way I have it set up (4 primes, with speedrill style T/S/Stadiums) I get 2-3 kingdras out T2-3, meaning 3 extra damage counters per turn, and you get auto 60-80 damage each turn W/O discarding anything. (expert belt) mix that in with crobat drops+poketurns, and you can do some serious damage each turn.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
SPEEDRA PRIME, although I cant quite say it has become popular yet. maybe I just have to win a couple BR's first ;P

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
4 primes+crobat G+poketurns+donphan prime (just a 1-1) = good damage each turn and you get a luxray X counter.
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
5/5 due to the fact that I've experienced how well it can do against some of the big metagame decks (luxchomp/jumpluff/machamp+garchomp S2 etc.)

5. How's the artwork?

5/5 again. it looks really cool =)

This will be a bit of a challenge, because I have no personal experience with this card as of yet. But with this set hitting stores today, that's likely to change real soon.

This card is no game-breaker, but it looks like it could be fun in it's own way. The main reason to play it is to put a damage counter on one of your opponent's pokemon once per turn. This can be real fun if you manage to get two or three in play. Because it's a PokePower, there's nothing that's safe from it. Dragon Steam looks like a bargain, doing 60 damage for only 1 energy. But it's hurt by the fact that it's a Stage 2, making it a little hard to play. Of course, Rare Candy remedies this. But Donphan also does 60 for 1 energy, and it's Stage 1. Also, it drops to 20 base damage when your opponent has fire types in play, which prevents this card from being the fire-killer that it would otherwise be. But Kingdra is not likely to be the only pokemon in a water deck, anyway.

Oh yeah, Donphan won't like Kingdra with an Expert Belt. With how damage calculation is done, Donphan in OHKOed even if it's holding an expert belt too.

Kingdra probably won't be big enough to justify going out of the way to add a pokemon to your deck to kill it, but something like that already exists in nearly every top-tier deck. I think you know which one I mean. An extremely expensive pokemon SP level X that no benched pokemon are safe from. Yeah, that one. That card would kill this, with a little assistance from Crobat G.

Kingdra Prime from Unleashed gets a score of 3 out of 5.

This card can be fun. I'm sure you've had your fair share of experiences where just one more damage counter would have made all the difference. As have I. That's the difference-maker this card can potentially be. Now, imagine a team of them. This card has potential.

If I get this card I am totally playing it... favorite card in the set.

1. Totally worth being played, it's like a consistent Crobat G with decent attacking powers. Pretty good on its own, you should probably tech Kingdra LA or some other Water type though to hit fire-types.
2. This is best played as the main focus of the deck.
3. I dunno, Horsea, candy, power, energy, attack = ownage.
4. 4.5/5 - Kingdra Prime is really good, but the secondary effect of it's attack isn't so good, and LuxGL X kills it.
5. Definetly, not as good as some of the other Primes, maybe 2/5.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?

It's attack is good considering it only takes 1 energy, but it weak against fire types. It's good against Donphan Prime though.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?

none yet.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?

It's good with Crobat G/Mamoswine Gl

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).

4/5. It can easily defeat any donphan (great with e-belt). Terrible against the popular Luxray x deck.

5. How's the artwork?

5/5 It looks majestic. I like the glint in it's eye.

i personally want to use it in my sp deck variant that has dialga palkia and garchomp sp. with kingdra prime i can spread dmg counters and knock out Pokémon left and right with just the power. the attack could easily be a 1 energy for 70 if u put a dmg counter on the active Pokémon. kingdra prime with an expert belt could kill donphan unless that donphan has an expert belt also but kingdra prime power could soften up donphan. I like the background on kingdra prime the picture not so much they did it like they did feraligatr prime should've had him come out of the card a little with a wave in the back or somethin

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or has potential? Is it worth playing?

Personally, I don't think that card will be that good on its own. Well, it somewhat can at least. Its power is essentially a Crobat G every turn without the need of Poketurns. That's why this card is literally causing so much attraction right now. The attack isn't too bad either. It can hit for 60 for one energy or 80 with an Expert Belt, but the problem is, if there's a fire Pokemon in play, then the attack does 20 damage rather than 60. That's why it can't be that good on its own. Regardless, it has potential and can be worth playing.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?

Literally, the only real metagame deck that uses Kingdra is literally the Kingdra deck. Here, Kingdra is used mainly for its Poke-Power, while Kingdra LA is uses as the main attacker. When Kingdra LA is played with Kingdra Prime, you literally can hit for more damage in a slightly easier way. Sadly, Kingdra isn't a real popular deck because Luxray GL destroys Kingdra.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?

Well, there isn't really much to say here. Kingdra LA is pretty much the only the only thing that comes into mind. Here, what I can see with this combo is that it would kind of be quite a unique combo. Of course, you would be attacking with Kingdra LA most of the time, but there may be moments where you want to attack with Kingdra Prime. If there's a fire type, you simply use Kingdra LA on fire Pokemon, while on others, you use Kingdra Prime.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you would give it that rating.

I would give Kingdra a 3.5/5. Yeah, this Kingdra is fairly decent in my opinion. He has an amazing Poke-Power and an O.K. attack. The main problem is the weakness to Luxray GL and the downside of its attack. Regardless, this card is the very reason why Kingdra has seen a somewhat boost in popularity.

5. How's the Artwork?

Here's yet another awesome artwork for a Pokemon Prime. Kingdra definitely look cool in this picture. He just gives you the stare that says, "I'm ready for a battle!"

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
very good if ur opponents do not have any fire type in field.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
uhm, i think gengar or LA kingdra

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
i think probably with jumpluff

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4.5 stars

5. How's the artwork?
awesome, i like the way they design the primes cards...lol

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?

On it's own, I can see it donking if you can get it out early. Against Fire Decks, just give it an Expert Belt and it'll hit 80 either way. It's a Crobat G minus the PokeTurns, but is harder to get out as quickly. I think this card has a lot of potential.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?

None at the moment. I can see it being in a speed deck with come Crobat G's and some PokeTurns.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?

Get out 3-4 Kingdra Primes and you're dropping 30-40 damage per turn. Add in Crobat G and you can do even more. This could go very well with Gengar Lv. X combos, or just stand out by itself.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).

4.5/5. I think it's a great card. 60 for one Water and a free, stackable Crobat G every turn. What's not to like?

5. How's the artwork?

4/5. One of the better looking Primes. I don't really like their artwork, it seems as if the Primes should look a bit more intimidating than just being mugshots with a gleam placed on an eye or claw. Kingra Prime doesn't look too bad, but I'd prefer something flashier.
