The second post in this thread is my 8,000th. bacon wanted epic and after the discussion we had in the chat the other day I am pretty sure this qualifies as epic because we both agreed this idea is AMAZING and I had to run with it. (Also, this post is my 7,999th, so win++)
Author's note: It's only serious because it's a prologue, and possibly because I am terrible at writing crackfics. Despite the wacky premise I have to set it up somehow.
This is not meant to be my second fic but if people like it enough I may turn it into the best (or, by definition, the worst?) crackfic you've ever read. But if you can read it and wonder what kind of weed I must be smoking to make something like this, I've done my job.
Thank you and enjoy the show.
dat prologue, dawgs
Several thousand years ago, humans lived alongside powerful creatures known as Pokemon. There were countless numbers of Pokemon, and they lived alongside humans in harmony as friends, companions, and mates. Of course, there were some humans who used Pokemon for more evil gains. Such is human nature, after all. But for the most part, good defeated evil whenever it chose to rear its head.
A few thousand years ago, all of that began to change. One of the popular terrorist groups of the day--Humans Erasing Retrieved Pokemon, whose goal was to steal and kill other people's Pokemon--caught wind of a particularly powerful legendary Pokemon. Orona, the leader of Team Herp, sought out this Pokemon to further his own ends, with the idea being ultimate control of all people's Pokemon.
Directly in opposition to Team Herp was a group who also sought this powerful Pokemon for their own nefarious deeds - the Dangerous Entities Realizing Potential. This group, Team Derp, had heard of an equally strong Pokemon that was so powerful, it could erase the powers of the Pokemon Team Herp was after. Of course, Team Herp had heard the same about the Pokemon they were looking for as well.
After many years of the two factions warring against each other, each succeeded in its goal. The two Pokemon clashed in a violent uproar that lasted for seven days. On the seventh day, Orona and Mishik, the leader of Team Derp, commanded their respective Pokemon to use one final attack, at maximum power, to wipe out the other side once and for all.
Neither side could predict what happened next. When the attacks connected, the resulting explosion was so great that it sent shock waves for hundreds of miles. The two legendary Pokemon, Orona, Mishik, and the entirety of Team Herp and Team Derp were obliterated in the blink of an eye. Entire countries were razed in mere moments. Millions of innocent people and Pokemon were killed.
A few months after the explosion, Pokemon started to die inexplicably. Scientists were baffled at how seemingly healthy Pokemon could collapse in seconds. After further research, scientists were able to find a cause for the deaths - a toxic cloud that formed in the aftermath of The Great Disaster, as it were called. This poisonous gas was completely harmless to humans, but deathly fatal for Pokemon. By the time scientists had discovered the cloud, it was far too late to do anything. It had encircled the globe. At this rate, they discovered, Pokemon would go extinct within the next few years.
Despite mankind's best efforts to preserve the lives of Pokemon, they ultimately failed, and soon enough, every living Pokemon had fallen to the poison. During the decline, wars broke out over the remaining Pokemon. As the number of Pokemon dwindled, so too did the rationale of the people. They became frantic for control, and soon, nuclear war occurred. All it took was one missile to start it - a domino effect of missiles, one after the other, with incredible intensity, each one dooming the human race quicker than the last.
When it was all over, only a small handful of humans remained, but the fallout from the massive nuclear explosions proved too great to handle. Eventually, the last human fell, and the world was once again void of life.
Over the centuries, the effects of The Great Disaster and the nuclear war waned. Slowly but surely, the planet became habitable again. Seemingly unwilling to die out completely, the planet began revitalizing itself in a painfully slow process which would take another thousand years. Over this period, trees began to grow. Rivers, lakes, and oceans formed. And out of the dust rose many more species in numerous colors and shapes and sizes, along with two goddesses who were very, very bored most of the time. This time, humans were not among those that came into existence. Neither were the Pokemon, who were long thought to be extinct.
Yes. You read that correctly. Unknown to the humans, one Pokemon survived. One Pokemon out of thousands, lying dormant, awaiting his awakening, unaware of the catastrophe that has befallen the Old World. And when he wakes up, there is no telling what he will do.
A Pokemon seemingly older than time itself.
A brand new world.
Candy-colored ponies.
What could go wrong?
btw it's pokemon x ponies. probably should have mentioned that before. u mad?
