RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 4 is up!)

Chapter Five: Sabotage

A half hour passed after the trio left Wally's. Satisfied with the info he got being crystal-clear as always, Adam secretly texted Wattson about Abilgail and that he was to protect her while the two boys were on their journey. Cody, being the light-hearted kid he was, made a little pit stop just so he can dress up like Link, swinging a plastic sword every once in a while. Adam had to admit to himself that the boy does look pretty similar to the Hyrule savior and that it was almost a little cute how he was acting. Abigail, of course, lagged behind with status updates.

"Are we there yet?" whined Abilgail, who had messed her hair up to look distressed.

"No, stop asking. You're like an very annoying kid, and that's saying something since 'Link' over there irritates me half the time..." said Adam, clearly irritated by the behavior constantly displayed by the even younger girl.

"I must admit..." Cody started, trying to have an early European accent to his voice. "This path does take a while."

"...it's literally a ten minute walk. You're just short and whiny Abigail and you had to stop to play dress-up Cody!"

"Dress up? This is who I am, who I was destined to be..."

"Dude..." Adam said, swiping Cody's hat and putting in his pocket. "Your name is Cody. You were born here. You are not Link and we surely share different gaming galaxies."

"I was just trying to have fun..."

"I know, bu-" started Adam, but was cut off.

"YOU TWO! Quit playing BFFs and WALK!" yelled Abigail.

"Cody, may I?"

"Sure, but just this once."

Adam stopped in his tracks and picked up Abigail.

"OK, let's move!" shouted Adam.

After a two minute run, the three arrived in town and at the gym's front door, Adam chucked Abigail to the ground.

"NEXT TIME IT'S A HAMMER!"

Wattson then opened the door and grabbed Abigail.

"Hoho, thanks for telling me everything in advance Adam!" said Wattson in his signature jolly, happy-go-lucky tone. "I'll keep her nice and safe... Also, you're lucky. Our Magnemite in New Mauville seemed to have found bombs of some kind. Don't worry, they are demagnetized."

DAMN IT! N... will surely punish me... Maybe if I kill Wattson? thought a truly distressed Abigail.

"Give those Magnemite something special for Cody and I. Thanks Wattson!"

The boys left, Wattson making sure to lock the door and put a sign on it saying "Closed for special reasons".

"Adam, you didn't bring me here just to drop her off, right?"

"Not quite. I need a bike so we can get to Slateport so we can get something to-"

"Get across the water? Why didn't you say so!"

Cody tossed the supply ball and grabbed the raft from the assortment.

"When you get the ball? I had it on me just so I DIDN'T have to see that standee again!"

"Oh... I, umm, stole it off your belt right after you fell asleep last night..." Cody muttered.

Adam punched Cody in the arm.

"I'm trying to be nice, just DON'T steal from me again... Especially when the object is on me." said a slightly irritated Adam. Cody meant well, but there is such thing as personal space y'know.

"I promise..."

Cody put the rest of the supplies and set the boat in the water. He then stretched out his hand.

"I can get in a boat myself you know..."

"I know, I just want to be gentlemanly Adam along with showing you someone cares..."

"I don't need anyone to, I have Mother Nature for that. But I will give you the gentlemanly thing, that's very kind and I will accept."

Cody takes Adam's hand, helping him into the boat and making sure sure the brunette got comfy. The taller, younger blonde then pushed the boat and took off. (I realized I never made that clear, so welcome!)

Meanwhile, in the gym, Abigail was quickly looking for a knife. Ironically enough, Wattson walked in with one.

"HOHO! Little girl thinking she gonna go stabby, huh? NOT TODAY, HOHO!"

"Grr... Wattson, listen up. We're on the same team, right?"

"Hoho... We were until you floundered out of town, so until I get some info..." Two Magnezone and two Manectric came out of the corners to surround her cue. "You are NOT leaving!" Wattson then pushes Abigail into an old, rusty electric chair.

Back on the boat, nighttime came and the stars were actually really clear for once. Since Cody forgot to grab oars too, the boat was only half-way across the water route.

"Adam... Is it going to be a cold night?"

"Saying as there's no Taillow in the sky, yes."

"Adam... Can I sleep with you? I know you're territorial but I freeze quickly."

Adam sighs, then finally nods. Cody then crawls over to Adam, snuggling close.

"Consider this a one-time thing kid. Truth be told, I need the company too... Just once. But right after that, straight back to my territorial behavior..."

The blonde nodded, falling asleep in the older boy's arms. Using the freetime, Adam looked up to the sky. There's plenty of stars in the darkness, but there's a particular group stood out most. It was a group of about 12 stars, 2 sets of 6. While most viewed it as a Girafarig guardian, Adam knew better. He personally called it the "Lover's Embrace" and oddly enough, the two looked just like that under the moonlit sky.

The next morning, the two boys woke up the same way they slept the night before, except more flat and, as a result, the back of Adam's hair is wet.

"I... Umm..." stuttered Cody, somehow not remembering the night before. It's not like they did anything, but Cody was freaking out like something did.

"Cody, relax! You just used me for warmth, nothing more. Now... Pack up, I need to dry my hair off before it starts attracting random Surskit."

Cody slightly chuckled as the brunette took the supply ball out and was looking rapidly for a hair drier. He couldn't help but blush for whatever reason. It's not like Adam was doing anything cute, but maybe it was just being around him in general and seeing this kinder side blossom first-hand.

After Adam found the hair drier (somehow portable) and dried off, the boys began their way to Fortree City. Unknown to the boys, Winona had sealed off the entrances and required everyone to take a special training course. But, for now, their only goal was making it through Route 119 and dodging any operative along the way.

I tried giving the story a more romantic feel this time to try to show that Adam is softening up (the sarcasm is DEFINITELY gonna stay though). Chapter Six is gonna be alot better and be, in comparison to the others in terms of important info, a super chapter! I really hope you enjoyed the read, comments appreciated as always!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 5 is up!)

Hmm, it's hard to keep track of who's saying what... you need to improve on that.

Otherwise, great work, as always! ^_^

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 5 is up!)

Lemme fix that up for you!
EDIT: Better? I got alot of free time today and access to an actual computer, so I might be able to do another chapter today too.

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 6 is up!)

Chapter Six: High-Flying Tormentation in Hoenn's Backyard

After about five minutes of walking under the harsh summer skies along Route 119 and weaving through very tall grass, Adam was getting fed up and ready to just give up.

"How the heck are we even supposed to know where we're going??" Adam complained. "I feel like we're walking around in circles, I barely know where we're supposed to go, and I swear to god I've seen that giant Tropius at least 20 times."

"Relax, everything will be OK!" reassured Cody, his golden hair almost illuminating under the harsh sunlight. "We'll find the Weather Institute soon and we'll be able to ask them for directions!"

"You may be right, but we gotta be able to get SOME orientation! Wait... what's that over there?"

Adam moved some grass to reveal a little clearing, but nothing was calm about it. In the center of the clearing was a large steel cage, inside nothing yet. Surrounding the cage were ten guards, all with uniforms similar to the ones from Rustboro on. Upon examining the back of the uniform, one can see the words "N's Crew" across the back.

"Of course, my father would be around here..." murmered Adam. "Question is, why here of all places?"

"I have a theory. Adam, you see how bright the sun is shining and how hot it is?"

"Yeah, it kinda hurts how it's burning my skin but it feels so good at the same time... What about it Cody?"

"Well, there's a certain legendary you forgot about: Groudon. And based on that..." Cody then pointed over to some sort of energy converter, "I'd say they're trying to harness Groudon's power to try to kill off everyone in Hoenn along with most of the Pokemon."

"That's so..." Adam tries to restrain a scream of rage. "evil!"

"Shh..." Cody said, putting a finger up to Adam's lips only to have it almost bitten. "You can't shout about it right now, even though I know it's tempting you... There should be a way to get rid of this contraption though."

"I'm way ahead of you. I'll get Petilil to use another Fire Storm, get Phanpy to use Rollout to tackle those guys."

"Sure, but just a question. How the heck can Petilil use a fire move?" pondered Cody.

"Oh, that's simple. Just have it use Hidden Power, which happens to be fire-typed with Petilil here, and spin around. I have all sorts of combos, but they aren't needed quite yet."

The two tossed out their Pokemon, making sure to sush them before they made any noise. Then, with careful instructions, Petilil set fire to some distant grass while Phanpy was charging up the power in his Rollout, this time precursored by a Defense Curl.

"F...f...FIRE!" screamed one of the grunts.

"Oh be quiet," went another one. "the sun's really strong and hot. Of course grass is gonna set on fire."

"What do we do Mars?" went a third grunt, obviously speaking to his boss. "You were in charge of the Rustboro operation after all."

"Why, it's simple." she said with a slightly arrogant voice. "You seven go over there and put it out before the news people come while Jupiter, Saturn, and myself think up of a plan to get Groudon in here safely."

Adam quickly shot Cody a look that read "I'm impressed." before all the grunts went "YES MA'AM!".

As the seven ran off towards the fire, Cody snapped his fingers, it being his little sign to Phanpy to attack. And like the little obedient and tricky elephant it was, Phanpy rolled off, taking out the grunts out one by one.

"Wha... What happened to him?" went a grunt just moments after he was knocked by Phanpy. The little blue wonder then tackled this grunt and the rest, making sure to leap to smash the seventh grunt's face in.

"Ugh, what is taking them so long???" went an irritated Jupiter. "Fine, let's do this... Masquerian, Hydro Pump over there!"

The Masquerian went to obey, flying over to the area and prepping it's attack.

"Why'd you pick Masquerian of all Pokemon?" went a very perplexed Saturn.

"Well, boys started hitting on me when I got here, so I needed a cute Pokemon to blend in and hide. Plus it fit the boss's orders of getting a Hoenn Pokemon to blend in. Why, what'd you get?"

Saturn tossed out a very scary looking Mightyena followed by Mars throwing out the Carvanha from the treehouse, though it almost instantaneously evolved into Sharpedo.

"Oh...." sighed a slightly upset Jupiter. "I forgot we were evil for a moment. I liked the good life for a bit."

"Jupiter, you're always evil, no matter how much you hide it." said Saturn in a near parental way.

"Y-you're not the boss of me! I can be good if I want!" Jupiter then ran off to join her Masquerian and, based on what he overheard, Adam snapped his fingers for Cody, making Phanpy stop.

"Let's get her on our side Cody. She's not a hothead like your sister and we can use the inside info anyway."

"Hmm... fine, but only because this is your mission after all."

"Thanks Cody, I owe you one."

Adam then ran over to where his Petilil (who was trying to look like a scared wild Pokemon), Cody's tired Phanpy, Masquerian, and Jupiter was.

"Excuse me ma'am, are you OK? You look like you're about to lose it...." said Adam, trying to appear as innocent as possible.

Jupiter sniffed before answering. "I'll be fine... Since it seems you were walking by, how much of that did you hear?"

"Umm... just about all of it. I was going to try to put out the fire somehow when I heard the conversation. No one should be able to control you, y'know."

"You're right.... What's your name?"

"Adam, nice to meet you. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Indeed... Follow me."

Adam did as told, waiting to tell Jupiter the truth until after whatever this was. Low and behold, it was actually a sneak attack.

"OK, on the count of three, use your Pokemon's strongest attack on them. Got it?"

Adam waved his Petilil over and whispered to it to use a Flying Giga Drain.

"Yes ma'am."

"OK, but call me Jupiter, not ma'am please. Alright, one... two... THREE!"

On the third mark, Masquerian unleashed a Silver Wind combined with Hydro Pump, the water going straight for Saturn's head. Petilil jumped high and landed on Mars, using it on her hair and making it bald.

"Look at you two excuses of people! You're the most horrid people to ever exist, telling people they can never become nothing more! Well guess what? I don't give a care about what you have to say, I know better!" shouted a passionate Jupiter. Apparently, Cody also prepared a sneak attack because a few moments later, Phanpy rolled by, knocking both Mars and Saturn unconcious with attacks to the head.

"Cody here, at your service ma'am."

"What is with you two? My name is Jupiter, not ma'am!"

"Understood Jupiter. I've gotta be honest with you now that those two are out of the way.... We're actually trying to take down whatever operation is going on. We're the trainers from Rustboro." explained Adam.

"I see... thank God someone is aiming for the same thing! I just got tied to this thing because of my association with Plasma. I was thinking of busting this thing from the inside out. Question is, how did you know about it Adam?"

Well this definitely confirms my suspicions... "Well, you know the boss, Norman, right? Well, he's my father."

"OMFG, SHUT UP! You're related to that.... that.... monster???"

"That's what I call him!" Adam said with a heavy laugh. "Oh, and Abig-"

"Oh that little b*tch! She stole over $10,000 from me and basically was the boss's mistress. She almost got me fired just for having a Pokemon that wasn't ugly."

"Wait, my sister was..." Cody stammered, flabbergasted from this new info. "You mean to tell me my sister wasn't going to the Academy?"

"That'd be correct, young man. Abigail was Norman's project, the next ruler of this organization. After Adam here made her pretty upset, she turned to us for support. Honestly Adam, it's not your fault. She would have came to us eventually with how much she was b*tching about Toddlers And Tiaras."

"That's good to know..." Adam started. "Cody, Jupiter, let's get to Fortree. I have more questions to ask, we won't be safe here once my father gets word of this, and Winona needs to know anyway. Besides, we don't wanna be around when they snap back into things."

"Agreed!" said an upbeat Cody. "Let's go!"

Meanwhile, back in Mauville, tragedy occured. Those bombed the Magnemite supposedly deactivated... yeah, they actually just stalled the activation. The whole town went up in smoke, leaving only one survivor: Abigail (Wattson went upstairs with his Pokemon to train his younger gym members). She was in the only basement in town, so was allowed to survive. Now free, she took a black cloth that was in the room, used to mask her face, and headed out, using the knife Wattson left behind as a prop to show her rage.

A few minutes later, the trio arrived at Fortree's gates. Adam punched in the password he recieved from Winona, which happened to be SKARMORY, and was allowed into town. They quickly rushed over to the gym for all four of them tio talk.

"Cody, why don't you start?"

"Sure Adam. Umm... Jupiter, Wally read us a note discussing three things that were going to destory this whole place: W.A.R., D.A.R.K., and C.H.O.A.S. What are those?"

"Well, they stand for "War Artillery Ripthrough", "Destruction According to the Righteous King, and Chaos Has Officially Annexed the Severe. They're the three stages in our... sorry, their plan. Simply put, lots of explosions once they gather up enough power: sunpower, hydropower, windpower.... they're trying everything."

"Remind me to put a protective dome over this place." chimed in Winona. "Wait, hold on... I'm getting a page to turn on the news."

Winona picked up a TV remote and turned it onto a news station.

"Good evening, this is Ariel Lewis for Hoenn 9 News. Tonight, we have tragic news to bring. Wattson, the bike salesman, and everyone else in Mauville City, the Daycare Couple and Cycling Road people included, have passed away in a massive explosion. We have no idea if anyone survived, but based on the footprints, it seems that one person who was trapped in the gym basement has escaped. Where they are going is currently unknown, but based on prior events, this person and the Enigma Of Despair may have some sort of connection. We will update you with further coverage as soon as we get word of anything new. Reporting live from Mauville City ruins, Ariel Lewis, Hoenn 9 News."

Talk about alot of action, huh? And this is the mere beginnning of it all! I hope you all enjoyed the read, comments appreciated as always. Also, if you guys can spread the word about this since as much as I love Luckyfire chiming in with her opinion, more opinions would definitely help me more. Anyway, comment away!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 6 is up!)

Yep! I like Jupiter's personality. Pretty quirky for a girl. :)

Also, Joey, I'll help you out here: I'll advertise your story!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 6 is up!)

Thank you so much! :D As for Jupiter, I was figuring out what to do when it came to that part. It was either transform into a good guy like she did or turn them into the main bad guy group, but I don't wanna look like a DPPt repeat XD

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 7 is up!)

Chapter 7: Bombs Create Havoc

The news report just ended and everyone in the gym was just staring in awe. No one had ever blown up a town in the history of evil teams, nor had there been one survivor in such explosion... well, it's not fair to say everyone was sitting around in awe. Adam flipped a table after figuring out that Abigail was the only survivor.

"I can't... UGH, she needs to dieeeeeeeee!" cried out Adam.

"It's OK man," reassured Cody, "someone will find her soon enough and then she'll be in chains in police custody."

"Well, even so, she's still a threat you two." reminded Jupiter. "She can't be anything but if she escaped the gym. Knowing Wattson, he had her strapped to an electric chair, so she's not only strengthened, but she's out in the wild probably hunting for you Adam. I'd-"

"BYE EVERYONE, NEED TO PROTECT THE TOWN!" rang out Winona as she booked it out of the gym, trying to get multiple domes put up.

"As I was saying... I'd come with you two, but your father's agents will probably be coming out to hunt me soon. That being said, I can help you in one way."

"How's that Jupiter?" questioned Adam.

"Well, you know W.A.R.? I was in charge of that division of the plan and thus have the controls... At least for now. Watch this." Jupiter pulled out a PokePad (equivalent of an iPad) and entered an app called "Kitty Palace". It turned out to just be a cover for the potentially deadly app as when it loaded, there was a big red button covering a fourth of the screen reading "ACTIVATE!". She then entered some commands on the screen, pressed a few buttons, then put the PokePad away and pretended like it never happened.

"So..." started Cody. "What'd you do?"

"Oh, right! I made it so if you shot one robot, the rest would explode. Fortunately, I have a mini-me on me, so stand back, oil's gonna fly!"

"Wait, Jupiter, wouldn't that create more damage?" warned Adam.

"Well, it's either this or your father gives the commands of this program to Saturn or, even worse, Abigail. Trust me, you do not want either of those two in charge of a firing squad."

Jupiter then set up a miniature robot in the corner. She then pulled out a little pistol and shot it in the end. Instead of a little boom like you'd expect, a big BOOM took place. However, it wasn't the mini-robot. It just exploded quietly in the corner and splashed some oil here and there. Concerned, the three ran outside to see what the commotion was.

"Oh my God, they hit Mt. Pyre!" cried out one civilian. The trio turned to see just that: Mt. Pyre up in smoke, concrete blasting all over the place.

"Wait..." started another civilian. "Didn't that one kid who came here about 5 years ago have the gem to protect the balance for this region in that tower?"

"Holy crud, you're right!" cried out a third. "The guy who's doing this is nuts!"

"So, my father thinks he can ruin the only chance I have of finding the Sableye I need, huh? My father thinks he can just blow up all of my allies as he please, huh?" Adam then broke out into the chorus of "Part of Me", making sure to be aggressive. Cody sat there in awe of the two things surrounding him before Adam grabbed the younger boy and led him out of town.

"We need to move NOW! My father simple cannot do this anymore. The second I find him I'm going to take a knife and shove it up his big fat-"

"As much as I appreciate the fighter energy Adam, you do need to dial it down. Recklessness like that might lead to something bad in the future. Wait.... is that a little boy in the water?" Cody asked, pointing to the water by the nearby flames. "It looks like it's in trouble!" The blonde then ripped his shirt off and dived into the water to swim out to the child.

Adam, in the meantime, sat back and tried to relax. But, as soon as he was comfy, a silohouette of someone with a knife came up from behind. Just as Adam was about to do a suprise attack and knock this person on their feet, the giant Tropius from before came to look at the flames, sending the person flying and, based on the angle that the knife was tossed to try to save it, the knife into the water. The person ended up being the one and only Abigail.

"Hello Adam..." she said with a grimness to her voice. "I was just walking around and thinking 'Hey, let's kill someone who tried to kill me!'."

"Shouldn't you be hunting after my father then since he set the bombs?"

"I could.... But you made my life a living hell in the first place. DIE!" cried out Abigail, launching for the brunette's neck. The boy stepped out of the way, let her fall, and then sat on top of her so she couldn't move.

"Listen here, little girl. If there's one thing that will ever get in anyone's way, it's arrogance. That's what you let happen. I'm going to sit here and wait for your brother to come back and then we'll figure out what to do with you, got it?" Adam said in a very flat tone. He was already trying to decide what torture method he would carry out.

"I'm back!" rang out a very happy Cody. "The child ended up being a Sableye, the only one to survive it seems. He'll need to lay in our arms for a bit while his wounds heal up, but he should be fine soon. Adam.... who are you sitting on?"

"Oh, just the local b*tch, aka your sister."

Cody laughed, then became enraged when he saw the knife floating in the water. "Abigail.... there's SO many things I've been wanting to say to you. First, Honey Boo Boo would have been more entertaining than you anyway in her own show, so shut the hell up about that. Second, how dare you try to kill someone who's been alone for most of his life. It's not like he tried to kill you, yet you have multiple times! He's very sarcastic, deal with it. Next, really now with his dad? You skipped out on training to just be his dad's mistress? Shame. Oh, and finally, we have someone to show you."

Cody handed Adam the Sableye before he picked his sister up, dragged her back to Fortree, and put her next to the exploded robot in the gym.

"Hey Jupiter! I have a special delivery for you!"

"Oh goody, wha- YES! Thanks, I'll have so much fun abusing this one!" cried out Jupiter in a happy tone.

"You can't be serious! You're leaving me with this skank?? Whined Abigail.

Jupiter scoffed at this remark. "Says the girl who slept with the boss..."

Cody and Adam walked out at this point.

"So, Cody, what do you think I'm going to say?"

"That she deserves everything Jupiter is going to give her and we should sleep outside again before we do more since it's dark?"

"...very good, I'm impressed."

The two set up camp and since it was a warmer summer day, no fire be made. To cut down on cleaning up and keep travelling time at a maximum, the boys shared a tent this time.

"Good night Adam." Cody said, but was trying to move his bag closer to Adam. He still liked his space, so he put his bag on the opposite side of the tent. It wasn't worth fighting about, so Adam just accepted it.

"Good night Cody, sleep tight."

The two slept soundly through the night, unsure of what would happen the next day. All they knew is that they both felt something very important, possibly deadly knowing Norman's rage, would happen very, very soon.

I know it's not my best work, but my original draft that I was going to post was erased by computer issues, so I ended up typing this all back up from scratch! That being said, I hope you enjoyed the read since I'm putting chapter after chapter out for you almost every day. Leave comments to help me out, they are always appreciated!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 7 is up!)

Oh, man. I hate it when certain stories of mine disappear due to the stupid troll computer. Sorry you had to go through all that.

But keep going! By the way, Joey, how many chapters are you planning to post?

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 7 is up!)

That's... A good question. Maybe 20ish?

Chapter Eight: The Raging Inferno

A few days after the Mt. Pyre explosion, Cody and Adam were ready to hit the road. Sableye healed and, for it's own safety, was place inside a Pokeball an stuffed within Adam's bag. This Sableye was the last one to be captured as all other Sableye either drowned or died of injuries after the blast. Cody spent most of his time coddling the Sableye back to full strength while Adam did some research.

Jupiter, on the other hand, was having a ball. She turned her surprise present, Abigail into her own personal servant after a long beating. And not the kind of hitting in a beating that you see with white girls at the club with their weird slow motion clawing attacks, I mean complete punches and jabs with hard objects and everything.

Adam's research pertained almost exclusively to the weather patterns. He wanted to know how to figure out how to recognize when one of the weather legendaries was in the area and what signs of calamity could mean. The morning before Adam and Cody left, the brunette ran across these sentences:

Should you see a Tropius about twice as big as a normal Tropius, get as far away from the area as possible. This Tropius will often keep near extremely hot climates to grow further.

This, of course, only fueled the boy's curiosity.

"Hey Adam!" cried out Cody. "You ready to go?"

"I... Umm. Ye-"

"GUYS GUYS GUYS!" exclaimed Winona. "It's finally done! My fortress of protection is complete!"

Curious, everyone except for Abigail (she was chained to the gym wall, almost like Roxanne described) went outside. When a slightly overshadowed by Skyla gym leader says protection, they MEAN protection! The town was covered in four layers of bulletproof, see-through glass.

"Don't worry civilians! These two beside me..." Winona then motioned to Adam and Cody, "are going to save us all! Good luck on your journey Adam... Why are you going Cody?"

Now that was a very wise question. Cody did not have to come any further than Rustboro, but stuck around anyway...

"Oh, I..." Cody mumbled, "I want to stand up the injustice and tyranny within this great region!"

"Glad to hear it! Bye!" Winona said cheerfully, yet she was shoving the two out the door at the same time. Maybe she was just that fearful, who knows.

The two began the long walk back to the area south of the Petalburg Woods. Not before long though, Adam stepped in front of Cody.

"What are you doing?" questioned Cody.

"I want a true answer, now. Pride for the nation, that's bull. No one is that patriotic no matter how cheery you are... Well, unless you're on shrooms, but I would have found those by now. Tell me why you're coming." demanded Adam.

"...promise not to- Oh who am I kidding Adam, I'm your only friend."

"ALLY!" corrected Adam. "I don't have friends, I have allies. But continue."

"As I was saying... I just pieced it together last night. My mom was getting engaged to someone before I left with you on this ride. All the black garments, shy behavior... I get it now. She was engaged to your dad Adam and as cool it would be to be your brother, I do NOT want him for a father!"

Adam almost puked immediately upon receiving this info, thoughts racing in his mind.

How the... WHAT? You mean this kid... Could have been related to me? NO NO NO! Although, if he's that protective...

Adam then finally spoke up.

"You think I do? He's the most vile, corrupt, smokey... Wait, smoke?"

Adam then grabbed Cody and turned him around, revealing a massive patch of fire behind them and... A fireball racing towards them. Upon instinct, Adam tackled Cody and pinned him to the ground as the fireball barely missed Adam's head.

"Someone's behind us..." warned Adam. He then looked around and found a long, narrow piece of grass. "You may look like Link Cody, but I'm more like him as a person." Then, just like Zelda's savior, blew into the grass and played a tune. A few moments later, a Crawdaunt, Masquerian, and Pelipper crowded around Adam.

"Dear friends, please put out those flames! We need to move!" pleaded Adam. The second he got up and turned around though, he ran directly into the giant Tropius from before.

"Look Adam, it's a giant Tropius!"

Does he REALLY think I'm that much of an idiot?

"I identified it on our first run through and researched about it. I know what a Tropius is..." said Adam with a death glare.

"Sorry... I got excited."

"Anyway..." the brunette said in an irritated tone. "This big, strong guy is awfully warm. My guess is that Groudon is nearby."

Adam then walked south along the rest of the route until the two reached the Weather Institute. When they got there, a dreadful scene appeared before their eyes. The once blue, sparkly building was a drabbish gray now, the glass ceiling completely blown away.

"Guess my father is bomb crazy... Should we go look inside?"

"Anywhere you go, I go. Plus I'm kinda curious to see what's in there myself. The leftover research, anything trapped inside, the allure of possible danger... I'm getting used to it now." stated a proud Cody! "Let's go!"

Adam followed Cody in and nothing fell short of the brunette's expectations. Flying papers on fire all over the place, destroyed computers all over... Although there was one curious item in the room. If the men inside were researchers, why did they have a marked up cardboard cutout of Madonna?

"You see the Madonna cutout too, right Cody? I'm not going nuts right?"

Cody let out a hardy laugh. " I see it too, but what does that have to do with research?"

"That's what I'm saying! Come on dude, there's gotta be something in this place that's worthy of causing a building to be bombed."

Obediently, Cody followed, keeping close because, in all honesty, Madonna scares him as do computer that don't work. Eventually, the two reach an open room with a giant computer. Though clearly broken, there's still a document on the screen, frozen in time. It reads like so:

To do list:
-Pick up dry cleaning
-Collect my $20 from Paul
-Type up the tax reports
-Find a way to round up Groudon and Kyogre for their own safety.

Upon reading the last line, the click of a gun was heard, the gun against Cody's head.

"Hello boys, it's been a while."

Did someone call for a cliffhanger? Lol I'm not funny unless I'm sarcastic... Anyway, leave your comments, they are always appreciated/wanted/stolen for potato farming!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 8 is up!)

Your uploading these faster then I can read them! Just finished chapter 3.
Agreeing with Luckyfire on this one, there is a lot of dialogue, so maybe should make it less cluttered. Granted, I haven't read the other chapters yet, just up to 3. Anyway, good job!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 8 is up!)

Thanks, I'll try to find a balance!

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 8 is up!)

Heh, a lot of action this time, eh? Keep it up... although you still have that little problem with the dialogue. :p

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 8 is up!)

I've got a killer idea, don't worry lol. Besides, the action seemed a little dry, so may as well step it up, right?

Chapter Nine: The Face Of Fate

I do not advocate violence AT ALL! If you decide to do what Norman does in this chapter, I am not at fault. We don't need more Chris Browns in this world xD

Black. That's all that was around the brunette. Black surroundings as black as the night sky, black is all he can see. Adam tried to figure out where he was, but he couldn't as his hands and legs were tied to some uncomfy, cold, somewhat broken old chair. His mouth was had a thick, sturdy gag in it. Where Cody was was unknown and this further worried the teen. This was especially weird as Adam had no compassion for anyone, yet this boy... He was just unsure of how this started. Suddenly, after some amount of time, a clap was heard.

"Morning son, glad to see you survived the night... You shouldn't have left your hippie life style, you ended up putting yourself and that boy in danger..."

Norman then removed the gag from his son's mouth, then shot a serious look.

"I'll ask you once. Tell me where the hell Jupiter is and that little sl*t that happens to be that boy's sister."

Should I tell him? Cody's important, but so is Jupiter and everyone in Fortree... It's unfair to ask which life to sacrifice, which is a horrible question in itself. Think Adam... Wait, that's it!

"Last I checked, the people started fleeing after you fired that fireball... My guess is that they fled from Lilycove to the island towns. They'd be stupid to still be in the surrounding routes and towns. I'd look in Mauville too, see if there's any refugees training there to fight you."

"Hmm..." the father said, going into decisive thought. "Fine, I'll choose to believe you. BUT, if you are lying to me you will be hunted swiftly and killed alongside that blonde boy. Understood?"

Adam gave a simple nod before his father left... Or was it his father? The brunette took a closer look and saw some purple hair sticking out. Of course, his father was too manipulative for that! He sent Charon of Team Galactic fame to do his dirty work.

As soon as the now identified figure scurried off, Adam shut the door, revealing an object hanging from the door inside a sleeping bag. This object appeared to be no one else but Cody, clearly beaten and hurt. Using protective rage, Adam ripped him out of his restraints, helping Cody down from the bag and holding him close until he regained consciousness.

"W-where am I...?" the blonde muttered about a half hour after getting off the door, looking down to see blood stains on his shirt.

"I remember now... Your father tried to kill me Adam! He kept asking where Jupiter and Abigail were and I wouldn't tell him so he started punching me and threatened to kill you if I didn't tell him and I didn't because I know you were stronger and more cunning than me and be eventually hit me with a bat in the stomach and I... I..."

The blonde lost it at that point, collapsing in the arms of the boy trying to keep him calm. Adam, doing his job, held the younger boy close as he stained his shirt with tears, rubbing his back so that he could start to relax, making "shh" sounds all the while.

"It's OK Cody... Whoever that guy was, I will kill him myself if I have to. No one hurts my friends like that. You will never be hurt like that again if I have anything to say about it."

Adam felt a strange twist in his stomach. It wasn't exactly bad, but this was the first time he ever called anyone his friend, not to mention this massively protective feeling he felt for the boy. Cody must have picked up on this, as he only held the older boy closer. After a few minutes of this, the two boys stood up together.

"T-thanks Adam for everything you've done for me and what you will do for everyone..." Cody said shakingly, giving Adam a small peck on the cheek before walking out of the room. Adam was clearly shocked, being oblivious to any emotion like this for his own good. Trying not to intensify anything as he was not sure what gender he liked to begin with and thus being horrible in the romance department, let alone if Cody meant anything by it, he waited a few moments before walking out himself.

Outside of the Institute, the route has been completely burned out, flames quelled and barren soil left on this ground. Where tall grasses once stood, dry, charred soil was left, making it clear nothing would grow here again for a long time.

"Cody... That man wasn't my father. He has brown hair, the guy that dealt with us was wearing a wig. He has purple hair underneath."

"S-so... He's using family connections to dial up fear?"

"Correct and stop stuttering, we're fine!" Adam said, trying to revive Cody's old self.

"If you say so..."

After a moment of awkward tension, the two walked to the body of water that indirectly connected Mauville and Fortree, once again taking out the raft and, this time, the oars as well. The sun was very hot, thus making the boat ride even less enjoyable, though it did basically make the younger boy's soft, blonde hair glow.

"Are we there yet?" whined Cody.

"We're on water, what do you think?"

"I'll take that as a no..."

"It's getting dark out, let's anchor over there." Adam said, pointing to a large group of rocks with an opening between them just big enough for the boat. Cody obliged and did his part in parking the boat. The stars, meanwhile, spread out in the sky and, oddly enough, the Lover's Embrace was back even though it should be by Sootopolis by now. This water was the same water as last time, so maybe...? (Haha detail to be concluded in a different chapter :p) Also, a second star group was evident in the sky. Though researchers called it the Carvanha Squad, Adam saw a very different figure, one with a gun and two people fleeing. He called it "Norman" shortly after his mother died.

"Cody, I've gotta ask you something. That peck today... Was it a thank you?"

"You can say that..." said Cody with a blush. "Can I tell you something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Well... I think I might like you Adam."

This chapter and the next two are mainly about traveling, which gives me plenty of time for trying to bud romance and tell even more funny backstories. Anyway, comments appreciated as always as they help me improve and grow until I get into a lotus state, which I love :) For those who don't know what I mean, I mean when I get strong enough in something to where it's almost unbreakable. For example, my singing talent is almost in a lotus state after training myself.

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 9 is up!)

I love the suspense in Chapter 9! Also, I lol'd at the cliffhanger in the end... :p

RE: [PG-13] Love In Dangerous Times (Chapter 9 is up!)

I thought it was a nice touch lol. But yeahs, these chapters will be more in the romaantic suspence field/adventure suspence at the end of 11. :)

Chapter Ten: Foreign Emotions

"L-like me...? What do you mean Cody?"

"Well..." the blonde started. "As icy as you were to begin with, I've been able to see your kinder, gentler side. This side of you is something wonderful, showing both your golden heart and sharp mind. Plus that hair and eyes... It's kinda hard not to fall for you, y'know."

Adam became terrified at this point, looking for some escape under the moonlit sky. Alas, as he could not swim and the boat was surrounded by rocks, there was no way to get out. It's not that Cody falling from him terrified him at all, this only boosted his confidence, but it was based on the past that made him terrified.

Two years back, when Adam was 15, there was this guy that came into the woods daily whose name was Alex. Alex looked just like Adam in almost every way and the two eventually clicked and started going out. Around the 6 month mark, Adam's father's troops stormed through the woods, trying to find Adam so he could not stop his plans. They found Alex instead, shooting him multiple times and leaving him for dead. Mortified, Adam went into an even deeper secluded state, much like the one at the beginning of the story, vowing to never let anyone come close to him again.

"Cody... You can't love me. It's not that I hate you, but you CAN'T love me?"

"Why not?" asked the depressed blonde who's now on the verge of tears. At that, Adam told the story of Alex and him, crying almost the whole way through it.

"You see why now?" rhetorically asked the brunette. "People DIE because of me. You have too many things in front of you, which is why I didn't want you coming in the first place!"

"Oh Adam... I'm not going to die."

"You don't know that, history repeats itself, especially when it comes to my father... If he killed someone I liked once he will kill them again!"

The rest of the night basically went the same way, Cody trying to assure Adam everything was going to be fine and Adam trying to protect Cody from his father by keeping the two separated. Cody tried snuggling up to Adam, but lost that fight tonight and slept on the opposite side of the boat. As soon as the blonde fell asleep, Adam sang out these lines off of the top of his head:

Why must I feel like this?
I can't feel this
Not right now
Nothing is safe for me
I need to run free
Escape right now

(For melody, it's along the lines of "Reflection" by Christina Aguilera)

The brunette soon fell asleep, getting tormented with nightmare after nightmare.

In Fortree, the story was completely different. Jupiter's odd sense of torturing ended up driving Abigail insane and forcing Winona to put her in the town's jail. Some thought Jupiter's methods were cruel and she needed to go to jail herself, others thought she acted for the common good. Your opinion on the matter is up to you.

The next morning, Adam woke up in the boat alone, though there was a note laying where the boy slept. The note read like so:

Adam, I took a morning dive to wake up. If I'm not in the boat, it's because either I just went down or I went to Mauville to examine the damage.

~Cody

"Cody... You should know better. Operatives will clearly set up base there, killing any outsiders. Hang on!"

Right as Adam dove in the water to get Cody out of harm's way, Cody swam back to surface, collecting enough fish and seaweed for a sushi breakfast. However, Adam was nowhere to be seen, so Cody threw everything onto the boat and swam back down for Adam.

The two eventually met up at the shores of Mauville... Well, I should say Mauville Wasteland. Papers were all over the place, buildings burned down... It's like what would have happened if the Grinch was a tad bit more evil.

In the town, no one was seen, but tiny sounds can be heard of guns getting clicked and touched.

"How to get through here..." speculated Adam in a hushed voice. "Oh, for the record since you won't leave, don't go anywhere unless I'm up. Got it?"

"Yes... Anyway, I got this."

Cody then took the Sableye off Adam's belt and tossed it out. Of course this earned a very irritated look from the brunette, but he knew this may be the only way to get through town.

"Sableye, can you use Will-O-Wisp?"

The gem troll cackled with a nod, sending flames to everyone in town since the diamond eyes allowed the little goblin to see through obstacles and thus see everyone. At once, people ran out of town crying, butts on fire and all.

"Good work Sableye!" cheered Cody.

The three did a little victory dance until Adam realized something: for all Cody knew about him, the brunette knew nothing.

"Cody, tell me about yourself. I like knowing my allies."

To save the pointless quotation marks, I'll just tell his story like the creepy narrator I am. Cody is currently 16, born and raised in Rustboro. He went to the Academy for just one year before deciding his hobbies were more important, those being writing stories and playing the guitar. Besides that, nothing major happened, just an average boy chasing his dreams just like everyone else. In sum, he's the Niall Horan to Adam's Demi Lovato.

"I see..." stammered Adam. "Good to know. Let's move."

The older boy then swiped the Pokeball from the younger, called Sableye back, and stormed off in the direction of Verdanturf.

Later that night, the two boys set up camp in the Rusturf Tunnel land peninsula and, for the first time this whole journey, had a chance to bathe. Adam went first for the most seclusion and also to gaze at the stars that were starting to concern him. The Lover's Embrace definitely worried him as it should be around Ever Grande, not around Verdanturf. Also, Norman (the star alignment) was in the area when it should only be around Pacifidlog and other aquatic cities. What was even more concerning was that the two people running in star formation almost aligned with the two people in the Lover's Embrace, making the gunman looking like he is shooting the lovebirds.

While Adam took all of this in, he accidentally got his foot stuck in the mud and though he tried to free it himself, it just would not let go. Desperate, he called Cody for assistance. The blonde ran over immediately and, while not getting too close, managed to free Adam's foot, causing both of them to fall backwards into shallow waters. The two shared a laugh, then stared at each other for a moment.

"I... umm... thanks." said Adam shakingly, noticing how close they were.

"No problem..."

The blonde then got up and walked back, allowing the boy to finish bathing. However, for whatever reason...

"Cody, wait."

The blonde came back with a face that read "Yes?". It was then when the brunette made a move to show the boy some real appreciation. Instead of a hug though, he accidentally kissed the younger boy and though this was indeed accidental, he didn't pull off right away, allowing the blonde to kiss back. Sadly, humans need oxygen, so they pulled off to breathe, hugged each other for a bit, then separated again to continue their bathing schedule.

That's what love is I guess, sudden but welcoming. We don't choose who we love, only our hearts can do that. When a match happens, never let go and joy will follow.

So, ummz, yeah, that's the chapter! You can consider this the end of Part 1 if you wanted to break this story into parts instead of chapters (since 11 will most likely be filler content), but I think chapters works better. Anyway, please comment as they are always appreciated, share the story, and I'll be reading and writing on!

~Joey
