HypnoticLuxray suggested there be a general thread to discuss the game of Mafia (more commonly known round these parts as Werewolf, which is a Mafia variant).

Now there is one.

There is really only one rule for you to follow and it's imperative that everyone abide by it:

If you signed up to play the current game, you are not, under any circumstances, allowed to talk about the status of the current Werewolf game in this thread, even if you are dead!

This is not a discussion thread for the current game. The current game already has one, and it's called the game's thread during Day. This is not meant to be a haven for Town to talk during Night.

If someone is found to be in violation of this rule, they may or may not be removed from the current game, at the discretion of the game moderator.

Now then: How would you like to see this game improved? What were some fun ideas that you felt worked in past games (don't discuss the present game until it's over)? What didn't work? Let it all out.

I hope to see some goooood discussion here.
 
Items are interesting, sort of like movable roles. I could see some sort of factory role that creates and gives out items. Also, I've been thinking about it, and I'm interested in hosting another game in the future, I've got some interesting ideas.
 
In the last 2 games of Murder (a Werewolf spin-off I guess you could say) I used an item system instead of roles. The players would try and find items based on an overworld map. I think it worked pretty well, and I think it would work even better in Werewolf. You could have roles that interact with items, steal items, swap items, recycle items, give items, etc. The items could give immunity from the wolves one night, double voting power one day, heck even kill someone. I think there are a lot of possibilities.

The only problem with items I think is the way in which you find them. Like TheGuy said, it could be a role that creates them and hands them out, or something. I'm not sure that the whole map thing that I did is compatible with Werewolf, but I think the concept of items is definitely worth looking into.
 
If you have an Item, you can either:

1. Keep it and retain that item's effect
2. Pass it to another player (forcibly, but if they already have an Item or two players simultaneously send the same player an Item, it will fail)

You are only allowed one Item in your possession, and if you think you can just hoard a good Item all game long, think again! Some roles alter the effects of Items, and some abilities can steal Items from other players. I think it's going to be a fun mechanic.

All Items are handed out to various players at the game's start. What you guys do with them at that point is up to you.
 
Am I allowed to post here or do I have to wait until WW13 is over?
 
I'm planning on (way in the future when there's an opening) hosting a Mario Kart variant where everyone receives a character with a special ability, but then they expand on that by selecting from a variety of karts and receiving random items every night.

I'm going to do what I did in DS Download Play that one time, and receive the 7 four times in eight races.

Looks like everyone wants to host a werewolf game. I really don't care who, as long as the game itself is BA. It seems we've been getting a lot of gimmicky games. IMO, Werewolves/GuysWithGun>Mario Characters

I just don't want anyone talking about what's going on in the current game.
 
Some ideas for the next game..

A role that knows who is in possession of a certain item.

A role that destroys Items.

An Item that lets you win the game.

An item that let's you send an anonymous message to the wolves.

A role that create a duplicate of an item (that doesn't have any powers) and switches it with the real one.

I actually have a lot more Ideas but I'll post them here or PM them to the next game host later.
 
One twist you could have with items, and one that I plan on using in the event that I host a werewolf game, would be making items the abilities a role has. Like as long as you possess a gun, you're a vigilante. Once the gun gets taken away, you're vanilla until you pick up a new item.
 
Items sound fun. I'd actually like to see an example of a few items that you plan just to see what their effects are. ^_^

I would like to see more mafia support on PB. Mafia games actually require a high level of intelligence to do well in unlike 95% of the Game Corner games. A system where a limited number of mafia games can be run (two to three, excluding Werewolf) along with other games that require thought (The Challenge ... was there anything else?) would actually be beneficial and not a huge waste of time like the Game Corner. The big thing though would be smaller mafia games as they hone skills and promote intelligent discussion. I would be fine if that's all that gets supported with this "new system" I'm talking about; the rest I could care less.

I'd like to see this as well. Mafia is a fun game that lots of people enjoy (look at the current game and how we have 32 players, 2 hosts and 7 subs, that's 41 people involved in a single game!). Smaller games (say about 20 players and a handful of subs) would be the place for the new people to start with, so that their experience in the big games isn't short due to them being new.
 
I used to play where they would have a few werewolf games at the same time. They would have the one big game going on with week days and then one or two small games that used about 15 players where the days and nights would last 24 hours. I don't know if Pokebeach wants to keep that many tabs on it though. There, Werewolf had its own forum and moderators.

EDIT: It was also a little crazy though, Imagine it, WW Lite CXII

I've been trying to find a time to write up a proposal to the smods along these lines. The old Game Corner was trash with all those YPPY games, but a new Game Corner with a limited amount of mafia games (and potentially RPGs as well) would be a plus. I want to see the return of Mushroom Mayhem :D

Yes. that's why it was selected to survive The Purge.

Yeah, I was one of the said noobs. If you're talking about the destruction of the game corner, I was a denizen of The Ban Game for a while. When it went away, I decided to take a look at the rest of the forums, and here I am.
