Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex Revealed, Different Than the Original Mechanic!

Megas in the videogames don’t have unique moves. Part of the reason why the letters on the art didn’t make that much sense in the first place (it actually would’ve made more sense with GX moves (Z moves). Also they had a negative rule before, this is till better imo. Ig the part that does “suck” is you’re not evolving the Pokémon that does the mega evolution but as some have mentioned before it does make them more playable
I'd rather have the Megas be their own archetypes rather than evolving my Charizard ex into one that's somehow more broken

Still, with VSTAR attacks stepping in to replace GX after its rotation, I wondered if Mega Evolutions might replace it as well. I don't believe they should introduce negative rule again, but even Tera has its basic "bench barrier," while Megas got nothing—it's simply a straight-up 3 prizes and power creep.

idk, it doesn't really bother me. It's not like Mega Evolutions are that different from regular Pokemon in the video games other than that they evolve in the middle of a battle temporarily instead of permanently.

Yeah but in cards perspective a gimmick around it would be fun to see and more interesting than 3 prizes

So how will the new Mega Pokémon work? Will they have to be played on their pre evolved forms, or can they mega evolve from their respective Pokémon?

low-key tho, making them evolve from the pokemon that’s supposed to be mega evolving would have been cool, maybe they could still be just as broken but with only 2 prize cards, and you can’t rate candy to them. if they made them have to evolve from the ex that would probably be even better too for balancing, as they could then make the megas a little stronger too to balance out.

I’m not so sure about that. The meta is too fast and too donkin, so there’s a good chance you won’t even get the opportunity to evolve Stage 1 or 2 Megas. Only Basic Megas would be playable.

Imo, having a Mega Token, similar to VSTAR and GX mechanics, that allows you to evolve a Mega once per game would be an interesting concept. This way, you could for example include up to three Megas in your deck but only evolve one during a match.

It could be okay for deck-building—allowing you to run two different Megas and choose which one to evolve based on the situation. Instead of decks relying on four copies of bulky, heavy-hitting Megas, players would also have to incorporate other ex cards. This could lead to a more meta where you play all prize structures—1, 2, and 3-prize Pokémons.
