Metagame Expectations for Cities

I just wanted to give everybody a heads up on what I have seen being tested for cities.
First off Gyarados has gone down in popularity tremendously since Battle Roads, mainly because it has bad matchups and has to many counters.
But without further ado, hear are the decks.
Flylock
Flychamp
Kingdra
Salamence (expect lots)
Tangrowth
Blazeray (has gone down but I expect it)
SP Toolbox
Arceus (not to sure about this one yet)
Gengar/Machamp

Flylock- Expect a lot of this I see this all over now.
Counters= switch, power spray or unown g.

Flychamp- Second to flylock but it stays around because it can lock and hit hard.
Counters= ditto, unown g, garchomp c.

Kingdra- Not to sure about this one but it has been seen.
Counters= Mr.mime, luxray gl

Salamence- Expect this deck everywhere. New cards are always going to be played but look out for this one.
Counters= Not to sure yet but luxray gl outspeeds it and flygon crushed it.

Tangrowth-Expect it more with the new Lv.x out.
Counters= Dialga G (to shut down sceptile which is played in most tangrowth decks)

Blazeray- By far the best SP deck out there but has dropped in popularity.
Counters= unown g, power spray

SP Toolbox- Very popular with luxray gl I'm expecting it to be played everywhere. Not only with luxray either. Maybe some blaziken.
Counters= Power Sprays but mostly quick decks that hit hard.

Arceus- Expect it but I'm not sure how it's played but it looks like it could be played somewhat like an SP deck. Remember that they have multiple types so watch out for weakness.
Counters= nothing really just hard hitting decks.

Gengar/Machamp- probably the best choice in my opinion it's quick enough to throw off SP decks and strong enough to play against stage 2 decks. Expect to this played with relicanth.
Counters-Unown g(watch out for relicanth) and spiritomb from pa could throw this deck off a little bit. But if you expect gengar varients to be played in your area I suggest a tyranitar deck.

So that's about it I hope this helps you guys.

your metagame must be radically different than ours. SP decks are RAPIDLY on their way out here (since they didn't win a single BRs) and because of that, not to mention gyarados and salamence both possessing fighting resistance, so is machamp.
why is gyarados declining in popularity in your area? bad matchups? too many counters? i don't see a single matchup i would be especially afraid of as a gyarados player. BRs was all flygon variants here but by the end gyarados was clearly the second best deck.
btw i think salamence will be good in the hands of the right players but i expect most salamence decks to be slow messes for the first few cities.

Blazeray, by far the best SP deck??? I haven't seen Blazeray win anything in the metagame around here...and while I'm not a big fan of Gyarados, I don't see it having too many bad matchups either, yea there are a number of counters out there, but what deck doesn't have counters?

That list could use a good amount of editting. SP Toolbox and BlazeRay (actually, anything SP in general) has to go. A single Spiritomb start means no Energy Gain, Power Spray, Poke Turn, and SP Radar. That is killer in an SP deck. Then comes Tangrowth. Despite the fact that he has all of its healing... Tangrowth is way too slow. Its best attacks would require 4 energy to use. Flygon could just zoom straight by, Extreme Attack the Lv.X, and then Power Swing away. If Tangrowth damages Flygon, they run Nidoqueen. If Tangrowth runs Shaymin Lv.X, Flygon can KO that.

There are a few more errors, but these are just a few big ones. Also, why aren't you mentioning Gliscor/Spiritomb? It is a great deck.

I think if people notice that Gliscor/Spiritomb deck, it'll be played a lot. It's almost the same as my old Gliscor/Kabutops deck, just a lot faster.

What would these so-called Gyarados counters be? Mr. Mime? Lolluxray. Luxray himself? Doesn't OHKO generally, and if it does, its OHKO'd right back and it takes Gyara less resources. Spiritomb? Cyclone Energy. Tangrowth? Too slow and manhandled by a lot of other decks.

So yeah. I think your list isn't really credible.

I hope not that many people notice it, because then people will start teching cyclone, recover, or warp to get out of it.

2 Spiritombs > Cyclone Energy :p
And Warp/Recover Energies aren't that good since they only provide colorless.

After playing around with it some,i would say that a nidoqueen deck can do well.Expert belt helps it quite a bit,it has healing ability and can swing for some good damage.Moonlight to keep bouncing them around.

where is your metagame? im goin there to win cities. lols at blazeray. Salamence:>9000::Flygon:not. counters to SP what about mewtwo lv x.

Gyarados was a good choice for battle roads but not cities.
There are to many counters- mr.mime, power spray (against palkia), luxray gl with lucario gl, team galactics wager and probably some others.
A deck I forgot to put was fossil donks. They will be played a lot.

Nobody plays Wager and SP decks (along with Power Spray) will go down. Mr. Mime is not the best counter to Gyarados anyway. Luxray will be played, you're right about that, but one card is not going to kill Gyarados decks completely or even a little bit.

dmaster out.

Mr. Mime - always has been there
Power Spray - been there since Platinum
Luxray GL w/Lucario GL - been there since Rivals
Team Galactics Wager - roflmao, who runs these???

all this stuff was around during battle roads...and with the exception of Mr. Mime and Team Galactics Garbage, I mean Wager, they were used during Battle Roads

Mr. Mime is somewhat easy to get around, especially since there are players that play Gyarados that are considering Regice to move Mime out of the way, or Cyclone energies

your logic behind Gyarados not making much of a showing at Cities is a bit skewed...I don't believe Gyarados will be played as much, but it will definitely still be played...and the reason it won't be played as much is due to more decks entering the meta, not because there are counters and such for it...because those counters were there before BRs, and it still managed to do well during that time

I guess gyarados could be played but it will be harder to run now.

why is that? there isn't anything new or different from Battle Roads to be used as a counter
