The problem with this idea, though, is that this isn't a political setting... :/ Most of us are just volunteers who were asked if we would help out in certain areas of the forums.

Yes, I agree with this, its great you guys are willing to do this and I respect you all. However, I know there are some members that believe some mods aren't doing their job, but they can't do anything about it because any action against these mods would be flaming. It's kind of a lose-lose situation, and I wish there was an easier way to do this. maybe we should have a bimonthly "Members to Mods" Skype chat in which members can voice their concerns without any infractions, or we could have Contributors carry the concerns of the members (or even their own concerns) to the mods.

Members on Pokebeach have as many rights as WPM wants them to have. Freedoms aren't guaranteed on privately owned property.

Some things, unfortunately, boil down to like it or leave.

Now in all fairness, Pokebeach is by no means a terrible place, but some things are just how they are.

Well, as much as I hate to say it, the way to "win" would be by leaving the site if you're not satisfied with it, or to attempt to change it for the better. This site is completely free; there are no fees for being here, members aren't taxed, and there aren't even prerequisites for entry. Furthermore, whether or not you want to be here is completely up to you. So the people who put the most time and effort into improving it (the mods) are and SHOULD be the ones who make the decisions.

As a former mod, I can tell you the one thing that ticked me off the most was when members whined and complained about the decisions that were being made without suggesting anything more plausible to do. It comes across as nothing more than "I could do a better job than all you guys but I need green or pink before I'm going to do it. So all I really want is a bigger piece of the pie."

If this isn't actually what you actually mean, then act on it! Write some articles, make helpful posts, tell your friends about the site, and ask the mods how you can help out. You can do these things regardless of who is pink and who is green. If you're going to complain about the direction that the site is going, you better be doing your fair share of work yourself. If you're already doing work, then by all means lobby for change. Otherwise you just come across as a lazy, whining member.

Here's what I think:

It looks like members just want to have a say in who they want running different parts of the forums. And I see no problem with everyone having an opinion on that. Instead of trying to start a jury system or whatever, why don't you guys just post here / in website feedback / PM a mod and just TELL US what you want.

You want new mods?
You want staff communication?

Then just talk to us. We won't ignore you.

Yeah. It would be great if PokeBeach had a place where members could go vent their concerns without worrying about getting in trouble. Someone really should tell WPM. :O

To be honest, part of modship entails that we keep ourselves busy. By this, I mean that we have to make for ourselves by making up activities for people to take part in. As the Writer's Corner mod, I really don't have a heavy workload unless I post/critique fanfics regularly and provide writing contests for everyone to enjoy. I understand that some mods may not even be doing stuff like that, or even more so that members don't see that stuff, but this stuff is still done on my time. That's all I'm saying.

Why change anything? Pokebeach has been significantly improving using this system, and I see no reason to change it. If you disagree with something, don't rant about it here, just post in the Website Feedback and post legitimate reasons why.

Aside from all the drama, [member]Red Striker[/member] is now a Contributor. Just thought I'd point it out since nobody else did.

Jay is now a Contributor, and dmaster is now a moderator (once more). That's all!

People are so used to me having some sort of position it just flies over their heads nowadays I suspect :Y

Yeah, seems that way. It's not "bacon is something", it's "bacon is something different!?"
...okay I'm done
