OoC: Sorry, I was at World Championships! It was fun. But, I'm back now. And yes, I would have made a great report. Wait…
IC:
Previously in Equestria:
Dec walked into the room with all her friends. While they searched on the Everfree Forest, she sat down in a corner. There wasn't enough room for one more pony at the filing cabinet anyways. So, while her friends had their backs turned, she searched out her parents name.
Dec thought about the situation as she searched. She had had no communication with her parents since the accident. Any scrap of information would be a valuable find to her.
After a while of leafing through numerous file names, she found the one she was looking for.
"Bright Star and Shrina" (Pronounced, "Shrai-nay") the title read in small printed letters across the top. Holding the folder very delicately in her hooves, she opened it up and began to read, savoring every word.
Bright Star:
Bright Star, after the loss of her daughter, Dec, never really seemed alive. She always had a distant look in her eye, and never really spoke with any emotion. After she heard of the disaster in the Everfree Forest, that was her first destination. Despite numerous EAF members tried to stop her, they could only watch as she flew into the forest, never to be seen again. There are no reports of any trace of her being found.
At this point, Dec stopped reading. A single tear rolled down her cheek. She turned away. However, she decided that she wanted to know about her father. So, bracing herself, she turned her head back and read the paper again.
Shrina:
Shrina never really took the exile of his daughter well. And after his wife, Bright Star, flew off into the Everfree Forest, he lost it. All day, he'd run around the town, yelling his daughters name, Dec, around, frightening the ponies. Some EAF members managed to subdue him and lock him up in their best mental hoofspital. All the best doctors tried their best, but no matter what methods they tried, nothing worked. Eventually, after a few years, when one doctor went into his room, he executed a daring escape that, through numerous diagrams scrawled on various scraps of paper found later, he had apparently been planning for years, escaping into the night. No pony knows what happened to him, although supposed witnesses claim he ran off into the Everfree Forest, yelling the names Dec and Bright Star.
Dec, unable to hold in any more emotions, broke into tears. Her tears were overwhelmed by those of other members in the group and therefore unheard. Big teardrops fell onto the paper, smudging the ink on the paper in a few places.
After a sob or two, she, through blurry eyes, vaguely saw her friends moving on. Bringing a hoof across her face to clear away the tears, she followed them, trying the best she could to hide the emotions that she didn't want anyone to see.
Back to the Present:
Dec walked into the room of ponies strapped to the beds.
Could this mental hoofspital actually have been the one that held my father? The thought brought tears welling up behind her eyes, but she quickly got rid of it by shaking her head furiously. Figuring she wanted something to distract the depressing thoughts with, she caught up to Shade. He seemed a little bit down, too. Figuring that he found something about a family member or close friend, she decided to take his mind off it, too. "So, um, Shade, haven't really talked to you in a while,
I really need to change that… what do
you think is in the forest?"
