Media My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Fluttershy's canonically one year older than Pinkie. they're probably all about the same age. I've always had it like

Fluttershy (19)
Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack (18)
Rainbow Dash (17)
Twilight Sparkle (16 or 17)

What episode is that Fluttershy/Pinkie thing shown?
Also are we talking horse years or human?

Okay time to dive head first into this

Fluttershy is definitely hiding something terrible. We saw this as early as Dragonshy when she scolded her dad the giant dragon just because her friends all failed.

We see it again in Stare Master in, well, the Stare. Just one look from her is enough to make literally any creature submit to her will out of fear of what Fluttershy will do to them if they don't obey.

We see the worst of it in The Best Night Ever, when she drops all pretenses and starts freaking out and laying traps when love and companionship--her safety net--completely fail.

Of course we blow it off and think like "Oh Fluttershy how opposite of you this is, lol to see you angry when you are so timid and shy!"

Except it's not an act. This is the real Fluttershy, and we get our first real look at her at the start of season two.

When Discord converts the other ponies, it just takes a bit of verbal manipulation. Fluttershy has done such a great job of shutting her trauma out of her brain that nothing Discord says gets to her. He eventually has to physically intervene, which goes to show you the layers upon layers of blocking she threw up to shut out whatever it is that happened to her.

When Twilight changes her back, Fluttershy is shown to be hogtied. I mean, think about that for a second. Fluttershy was so unwilling to change back that Applejack had to physically restrain her, and not just hold her down, but render her completely immobile. Compare this to Applejack, who was subdued just from Twilight stepping on her.

Then, in Magic Duel, Fluttershy lets her true colors slip when she threatens Twilight's life:

Fluttershy_being_protective_S3E05.png

Fluttershy: Don't be scared, little friends, Twilight is wonderful with magic. [to Twilight] Anything happens to them, Twilight, so help me.

No pretending here; Fluttershy is pretty much telling Twilight that if she harms the animals, even accidentally, then her life is forfeit.

Man, and I thought Pinkie Pie was scary.

re rarity:

Rarity has a career as a fashion designer because there is no one around who has the same skill set she does. It has nothing to do with education because fashion is literally what Rarity was born to do; no one else can be as good as her because fashion is her entire life. Rarity probably has a bomb-ass house because she's the only one who is actually out to make a profit using her talents (Applejack does the same except she puts her money back into the farm instead of using it for her own ends).

Also, Rainbow Dash's house is enormous, what are you talking about?

Pinkie isn't staying with the Cakes out of charity, she pays her dues by working at the bakery, which suits her just fine because it fits nicely in with her special talent.

Also if memory serves Faust said they were all around the ages of 15-17 anyway so lulz

He's referring to Griffon the Brush Off, when Fluttershy goes to Pinkie about the party she threw for Gilda:

Pinkie Pie: Don't worry your pretty little head about mean old Gilda. Your auntie Pinkie Pie's got it all taken care of.
Fluttershy: I'm a year older than you.

Ahhh. I remember that line vaguely.
I like the Fluttershy theory. Don't forget when she broke that bear's back in Lesson Zero.

oh my stars yeah how could I forget that iconic scene

I don't care who you are, that is definitely not how you massage anything

that bear's like "SUCK ITTTTTTTTTTT" and then WHAM he gets a boot to the back
followed by a suplex or some crap and then he gets his spine stomped on

he cries for mercy but is Fluttershy going to stop? HELL NO. Twilight watches in horror as Fluttershy snaps the bear's neck with a shriek.

And if you watch for a split second right before the bear hits the ground, she has a look on her face that says "mouth off to me again and I'm coming after your family next. consider this a warning"

It is gone as quickly as it appears, 09:52 into Lesson Zero. Actually I am gonna do you guys one better. I took a screenshot of the exact moment.

jesus christ. what is wrong with this pony, and perhaps even more intriguing - who made her this way?? the plot thickens.

Since I posted this in the wrong thread before.

Yes but Spitfire didn't know who Dash was in Best Young Flier competition. Just because Spitfire is more serious an younger sounding means nothing. I mean, this is a kids show.

I actually like the idea of Wonderbolt Academy taking place early on, so headcanon accepted unless it's contradicted somehow

i reject your canon and substitute my own

the plot twist is that nothing happened to her, she isn't hiding anything, and she's actually a cartoon character

WAY TO RUIN MY FUN, YOU FUN-RUINER.

I started watching the show a while back. I already finished all episodes.

Also for PMJ's theory, in the episode "Putting your Hoof Down" Fluttershy starts acting like that again.

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with Fluttershy, she has serious anger management problems. It seems like anytime you push her buttons long enough, she just completely explodes (which personally is the only part of Fluttershy's character I really like, it makes her a lot more interesting). I personally think it has to do with bullying from classmates or pressure from her parents.

After watching the episode on Youtube:

Nice to see all the Apple family. There have been better episodes this season. All (or at least almost all) kids of the Apple family are Blank Points. It seems to be something that comes from the family so I don't think AB should be so ashamed (more or less like with the teeth. Some people have their teeth fell down last because of the family).

I really enjoyed the new episode. Once again, another strong episode from Season 3. Bab Seed reappearing was cool, although, I wish we would have got to hear more of her story. The whole photo album scene in the beginning of the episode was interesting. Seeing AJ as a baby was... kinda awful. I hate the design of babies in this show, they really creep me out. All of Applejack's bits were great. It makes sense that she was trying to run the reunion like a labor camp, because she is really focused on getting things accomplished all of the time, or at least it seems that way. The ending was nice, it wrapped things up pretty well. And how about that song? Probably my favorite so far in the series. Country, and rockin' fiddle all over the place. I wasn't tempted to skip through it, like I usually am with MLP songs. It just sounded like decent Country music. Very nice, great episode overall, can't wait for next week's.

AN APPLEJACK SONG. FINALLY. who's with me.

I guess the rest of the episode was okay, it was cool seeing pretty much everyone related to the Apple family, even weirdos like hayseed turnip truck (what a name, I would probably have to kill my parents)

time to give him a card :]

quick note: Applejack's parents have been officially confirmed as dead by the team. adjust headcanons as necessary. the shooting stars at the end were a reference to them.

anyway, fantastic episode. the song was amazing, and while the episode's pacing felt off, it was still very solid. season 3's been pretty fantastic so far. next week is a Spike episode so my hopes aren't high, but hopefully it's awesome!

in this episode: nothing makes for good memories like hard labor

I can't believe that I didn't pick up on the fact that Applejack's parents were MIA when this was supposed to be the biggest reunion ever and -everypony- was gonna be there. Well played, FiM team.
