I want to know which expantions will taken out of the format on September 1 because I don't want to buy cards for sets that will be illegal in the next format, may be is too soon to ask this but if GE is going now the duskanoir and gengar (and other decks) will be more powerful.

FireMeowth is pointing out the doom scenario where nothing can stop the likes of Macheap and Gagnar....

I hope for DP-on, this provides for more space in terms of creativity and assures that SP decks won't reign that much after Worlds.

3 options really. Keep in mind that its OBVIOUS that in 2 years from now, we'll have Platinum-On.

Therefore:
Option A: Keep a DP-On format to keep going with Japan. Next year, 7 sets would rotate out.
Option B: Get a GE-On format, rotating out 3 sets now. Next year, 4 sets would rotate out.
Option C: Get a MD-On format, rotating out 4 sets now. Next year, 3 sets would rotate out.

All 3 are equally viable, but GE-On would probably be healthiest for the game.

I would say I hope for a MD-on format (I'm tired of Claydol and Garellade and Weavile) but I think that Macheap and Gengar would rule the format there so I'm hoping for a GE-on, my guess is for the former though.

In my opinion GE- on is the way forward as all good supporters/trainers from SW has been reprinted so this give us an indication of a GE format but if rare candy is to go by then maybe GE will be rotated but I hope not unless they invent something as good as pachirisu and claydol

I'm thinking either GE-on or everything stays. The whole process of some pre-evos being tied to previous sets (snorunt/froslass, promogon, porygon line)
makes me think they will keep everything, but we really have no way of knowing

Well, Nintendo phased out EX Team Rocket Returns and left Rocket's Persian ex as a useless box-topper. It all depends on the level of concern Nintendo has for the card game's playability.

Especially considering Weavile, Gardevoir, and Gallade are all in Secret Wonders

My dad told me that there was a rumor that Claydol was going to be in the next POP. After worlds another Claydol line is being reprinted in PotF but it is psychic type. Honestly though, i don't really care what is rotated out. I'll adapt.

Where's your basis for this? Honestly, we're only concerned with this year, and two years from now is really long to be speculating. In fact, if it's MD-on this year, it should be RR-on next year. It's been four sets rotated for a few years now, if my counting is correct.

dmaster out.

Your counting is WAY off.

HL-On to DX-On: 3 sets
DX-On to HP-On: 5 sets
HP-On to DP-On: 4 sets

The thing to keep in mind is that new formats have a tendency to start with a set that is a new "block", so to speak. Platinum starts off a new block.

Ok, so PT is a new block. Deoxys and Holon Phantoms weren't new blocks. Instead of HP-on, it should have been DS-on, based on your "logic". >___>

GE-on is the only reasonable format. They have to rotate 3+4 or 4+3 to get to PL-on later, and GE is important for the metagame. Without Unown G, Machamp and Gengar would run rampard. Without Claydol, setup decks couldn't stand against speed or SP decks any more, making the format even more donky. And finally to say, Porygon-Z Lv.X would be unplayable - they have new lines for Rhyperior and Garchomp in PotF, covering all of the old Pokémon that rotate out of their Lv.X (coincidence?), but not for Porygon-Z.

EX was one big block. All of the sets started with "EX".
All of the Diamond & Pearl sets start with "Diamond & Pearl".
And the Platinum sets start with "Platinum".

I know that. But Deoxys and Holon Phantoms are nothing special within the EX block. They just did random formats/cuts. x_x

Even though I don't know exactly every single card from these sets.

My opinion has to be Diamond & Pearl on format. The Pokemon Organized Play has to keep some supporters from SW, and below.

DP-on is the most reasonable, as it doesn't screw over Froslass. :p

MD-on is just too much, as it kills Porygon, Froslass, etc.
