Loved Zatch Bell. I wish we got the ancient card mechanic in America. It could have survived. D:Zenith said:I used to play the Zatch Bell card game. It was an awesome idea but the cards were badly translated (Gravity = Down Force?) and nobody played it.
Is Battle Spirits any good?
Card Slinger J said:Be nice If there were new TCG's being developed in the future but due to Wizards of the Coast's TCG patent from Magic: The Gathering which is still in effect until 2021 that makes it hard for other companies to pay for royalties in order to get their own TCG's licensed and sold to the public.
About 7 years ago Wizards of the Coast filed a lawsuit against Upper Deck and Nintendo for "stealing" their patent and was later undisclosed to this day. In short UDE and Nintendo had to pay a huge fine to keep both Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon going to Wizards.
Battle Spirits is alright but it never really caught on in the Midwest, same with the Spoils TCG which died cause the company in charge filed for bankruptcy, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto on the other hand is still very much alive with Yu-Gi-Oh! having a bigger playerbase than Naruto.
With Scrye Magazine out of business, it's hard to find news on new TCG's being developed or rather If there is any being developed at the current moment. People just don't seem to have the money to produce new TCG's...

COYS said:From what I saw, the Spoils was the worst TCG I've ever seen.
I used to play MLB Showdown from 2000-2005. Bought some of the NFL (which sucks), and the NBA (which is awesome). Recently got into the Football Champions (soccer showdown basically). FC is probably the best of the bunch with sets in English, French, and Italian.
Although I doubt anyone would have interest in dead sport TCG's.
Card Slinger J said:Problem I see with Battle Spirits is that Yu-Gi-Oh! is still as popular as ever despite the game's flaws, heck one of my local hobby stores had these "Duel Terminals" or Arcade machines where you could play Yu-Gi-Oh! cards on the machine like as If you were playing a video game, weird eh?
Bakugan: Battle Brawlers despite being a Jacks/Marble esque game which is unpopular, the Anime series for it is as much of a huge hit as Pokemon currently is. 12 Seasons and still going for Pokemon though, but If the Battle Spirits Anime/Manga series does pick up in the U.S. I'm sure the game would of been more popular yet still they did the same thing with Duel Masters and it flopped after awhile.
In order for certain new TCG's to do well they need a strong following or good source material that will gather people's interest into playing it, Score Entertainment used to be pretty good at this for awhile until they got out of control after the Dragonball Z/GT TCG (no Re-Z) then went out of business after Bleach.
