@ Whoever called me whoever.

As long as there is a picture as proof where's the talk page?. I don't particularly like them, and I'm pretty sure most others agree that this is an unwelcome change.

Protagonist names are the ones I care the least about. I personally care about Arti's US name 10000 times more than this.

Since they're like the first thing you rename when you start the game, and pretty much everyone renames their protagonists.

what kind of a name is Hilbert
It's of German origin. You shall hereby refer to him as Herr Hilbert.

.......What kind of name is Hilbert and Hilda?!?!?!It reminds me of Dr. Doofensmirtz from Phineas and Ferb.Worst names ever. What was Nintendo thinking......

Unrenameable rival with a name that sounds like it came straight out of the 1600s?

Trollfreak strikes again...

The player character of the opposite gender is NOT your rival. The player character of the opposite gender only appears in the game as a Multi-battle partner in the Battle Subway. Cheren and Bianca are your real rivals, and N is sorta your rival.
Calm down people. Just name your character whatever you want to, and if you really don't want to see those names in the game avoid the Battle Subway's Multi-Battle line.

@playerking: Why are you still questioning the names? B/W is already out. Its completely proven.

OK, wow... I seriously think this is the first true complaint I've ever had for these games.

Hilbert and Hilda??? Seriously, I'm speechless. I'm very disappointed with these names.

Really though, they don't affect the game at all, but wow...

It was probably overlooked, but OrangeMudkip said that you only encounter the opposite gender player in the Battle Subway (this is the only time you will EVER see them).

For everyone thinking it's your rival that's named Hilda and Hilbert, wow you really haven't been paying attention. Your rivals are Cheren and Bianca. These are minor characters. Who cares. You see them once! Plus what's wrong with Hilbert? That's my name! :p

"@playerking: Why are you still questioning the names? B/W is already out. Its completely proven."

When I posted that, the games weren't out in europe yet, according to Bulbapedia's countdown. And why would they change the names again? I know it's real, but It's stupid.

Erm... What is so bad about Hilbert and Hilda, seriously just rename your character and then when you battle with Hilda/Hilbert, cover up the screen, Gosshh

We don't know if these are in the Default Name list, nor has Bulbapedia given it. 'Hilda / Hilbert' could be just Battle Subway exclusive. Did they have exclusive names to the subway in the Japanese versions?

I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE TOUR IN NJ! WHICH WAS AWSOME BTW! Back on topic, while I was playing the demo, I was the girl trainer, and I noticed she was called Whitlea. I don't think there names are Hilda and Hilbert.

The demos are old. They were made long before the names were announced (recently). The demo creators didn't want to give away secret details, as players had already thought before hand that the girl's name was Whitlea.

i hoped they would be black (boy) and white (girl). hilbert is ok but hilda i can hardly pronunce it. cant it be like hannah if they want them to start with H. and herbert insted of hilbert.

Oh god what. Hilda and Hilbert?
As much as those names suck, it's not like you can't change them. That still doesn't really change the fact that they are the worst canon protagonist names thus far.
