I made this deck because I couldn't afford Thundurus/Deoxys/Kyurem and didn't want to play that deck anyway. I never meant that it should be a big winner, but it's surpassed expectations by doing about as well for me as Blastoise/Keldeo or Cobalion/Klinklang ever did. Suggestions welcome!

Pokemon (15)
  • 4x Eevee (PF 90 - Signs of Evolution)
  • 2x Leafeon (PF 11)
  • 2x Umbreon (PF 64)
  • 2x Absol (PF 67)
  • 3x Kyurem (PF 31)
  • 2x Keldeo EX (BC 49)
Trainers (31)
  • 3x Colress Machine (PS 119)
  • 1x Computer Search (BC 137)
  • 4x Hypnotoxic Laser (PS 123)
  • 3x Pokemon Catcher (EP 95)
  • 2x Super Rod (DRV 20)
  • 2x Team Plasma Ball (PF 105)
  • 2x Bianca (EP 90)
  • 2x Colress (PS 118)
  • 3x N (NV 92)
  • 3x Professor Juniper (DE 98)
  • 2x Shadow Triad (PF 102)
  • 2x Virbank City Gym (PS 126)
  • 2x Float Stone (PF 99)
Energy (14)
  • 5x Water
  • 3x Darkness
  • 2x Prism Energy (ND 93)
  • 4x Plasma Energy (PF 106)
Strategy

Kyurem is the main attacker: when all goes well it can knock out an EX on Turn 2 (with Laser/Virbank) and continue hitting for 120 every turn until it is knocked out, by which time another should be ready to go. Keldeo EX/Float Stone allows you to quickly switch in an Absol when the bench is full or a Leafeon when opponent has a lot of energy in play or when a Keldeo or Blastoise needs knocking out. Colress Machine provides some modest energy acceleration in the early game. It's usually possible to do some kind of damage almost every turn.

But this deck is incredibly tight! One or two more supporters would be nice, and a fourth Catcher, but I have no idea how to wedge them in.

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

Hmm, well to tell the truth, a lot of it is that Deoxys are just extremely hard to get. Insanely expensive whether you're playing in PTCGO or In Real Life. And the most popular EX-based PF deck, which your list would move me a lot closer to, doesn't look like all that much fun to play.

The theory of this deck is that you can switch quickly between Kyurem and Absol and Leafeon to take advantage of changing conditions and the active Pokemon's weakness. Using non-EX attackers makes opponent work harder to win.

That said, Absol is the attacker I find myself using least. Leafeon, on the other hand, has knocked out more Keldeo and Blastoise than I can say.

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

the deck i posted is 1. you really never use Keldeo EX and sometimes but rarly you use Deoxys EX so it is a Non-EX deck and also if you want you could wait until they come in tins this fall

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

True, the fall tins will make Deoxys a lot more usable for those on a limited budget.

By then, of course, we'll have Megalo Cannon (or whatever it will be called in the English-speaking world) and we'll all have to rethink our favorite decks anyway. I've tested mine against a proxied up Genesect/Virizion deck, and I can see already that it will be no good at all then.

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

I must agree with the Walrus, playing the same deck as everyone else can be a bit boring.
This deck does look pretty cool though and if it's a deck you enjoy playing, stick to it :D

-1 Shadow Triad
+1 Colress
Is my only suggestion. You're playing with big benches a lot of the time so you can easily optimise Colress' potential, and Shadow Triad is not something you really want to use your Supporter-per-turn on more than once :)

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

Excellent idea and in Budget! I usually run this type of deck(I run Gallade/Gardevoir) because of two things:
-Exactly what you say, playing something that everybody else plays as well is BORING!
-My REALLY low budget. I'm very lucky if I ever get $10 by selling the good stuff i have!!!
But anyways, I would do this:
-1 Shadow Triad(Not really necessary)
+1 Plasma Ball(Most of your deck is Plasma)
But it's up to you, the deck looks really good to me.

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

Thanks to both Ryan and Luispipe. I'll try these ideas. I thought Shadow Triad would be for getting back Plasma Pokemon, but instead it's turned out to be mostly for getting back lasers, which are absolutely necessary to supply the extra damage it takes to knock out EXes. The Super Rods, though mainly for recovering energy, are also good for getting back a Pokemon or two if needed. I'll see if I can get along without the second Triad.

It has been great fun to play this deck--much more fun than I ever had playing any of the ones I built according to formula. That it's done well has been a bonus, but not the main point.

RE: Kyurem/Absol/Leafeon -- Plasma Freeze on the Cheap

Apologies for the thread Necro.

How is the deck working out so far. I'm running something similar but without and 3x Leafeon, 2x Glaceon and 2x Suicune and my 2 keldeos with skyarrow bridge as a back-up for the megaphone.

Should I try get the 2 Absols in there?

O! O, the necromancer speaks! The necromancer doth slithered into our halls to filch our dead and use them to infect the living with a foul disease of horrid, black origin! The shambling beast is before us, a Threadgr! One of the dead once restful and placid, though from its bed so deep in the soil, it comes with black magic nipping at air from the machination's fingertips! I bite my thumb at thee, Threadgr! How thee hath befoul'd the image of a thread once love'd and cherish'd! O! Woe! Woe is me! I must end this before others fall to its evil tendrils of shadow! Fast! Fast I shall use my Kido and end it where it stands!

Bakudo number one!

Sai!
