[C] [C] Discharge 60
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokemon is now Paralyzed.

Let me explain my other entry. So I was making my card however late it was and then I thought of Stunfisk. I decided not to chose Stunfisk, so I thought of another pokemon with the same type as Stunfisk, whose secondary type is Ground. Natually I have to give Fighting some acceleration so that's how it happened.

Woah! You copied mine!
Seriously bro, not cool. I did the flame charge zebstrika first.

GG Regi, GG. In all serious though, what is the problem? They have a different effect so what's wrong? (Plus he probably didn't see it)

When are we going to get the results for this?

I'll be doing the image part most likely on the following Tuesday (will be at work sunday/monday, with my day off tuesday) DNA will be doing the text part, so I'm not sure when for that aspect.

RE: PokéBeach Create-A-Card April 2013!

Cmon no more entries, I want to be in my first ever cac!

Sooo....

Delta Nite Copied TPCI, Reggie McGigas copied Delta Nite, and Bo$$ copied Reggie McGigas?

Copyception

EDIT: I'm pretty sure it's over. Am I in because some people did not post their entries?

RE: PokéBeach Create-A-Card April 2013!

Competition deadlines been hit all!

Ta much for all the entries! I'll be doing the image based ones tomorrow, just about to head to work right now and won't be back on until then.

RE: PokéBeach Create-A-Card April 2013!

I'm fairly sure there are a few DNFs for text-based, so I'll be replacing 2 of those with the entries of Reggie McGigas and the other guy whose name currently escapes me.
I'll be working on the text-based entries over the next few days.
I apologize for not sending courtesy notices out for the DNFs the week before, but sadly I had work to do on a research paper and was preoccupied.

aschefield101, when you're done, either send me your decisions for image-based via PM, or post them in the topic. I'll post my results either with or after yours.

Arctic White :

First and foremost, incredibly well made and unique fakemon, you don't get to see many good ones of late, thats for sure! Very nice colouration used on the Pokemon itself, relatively clean Line Art, which we all know is a pain in the backside to do right.

Textures used are brilliantly done however, generally the facial parts of any Pokemon on FA cards have a "bubbly" almost "bobbly" kind of effect, just a slight and very minor thing.

The attack however is too high for the card, spacing etc between each attack and being too high up cover the Pokemon itself. In Static Buzz, the "before" part I'm pretty sure should be lower case. Static Buzz overall for some reason doesn't feel right to me, wording wise. I'm by far nowhere near qualified to really go over attack descriptions as I'm useless at them myself, but it feels like its BW mixed with DPPt and might be slightly OP by today's standards.

Saying that, the only other thing I can say about this wonderful card is that you can tell alot of work has gone into it, much like Arctic's other cards/creations.

p.s. "yet" in the pokedex should either be "and" or "and also".

Blui :
zapdos__prime__by_blui129-d604f2s.png

I'm a sucker for any Prime cards and I have loved this official wallpaper art since like.... forever! I think the first thing you notice about blui's card is how striking it is, everything comes across professionally made, almost.

The blank itself is made by the genius that is ShinyBill! (We love you billybob!); however the symbol used at the top right is sadly not official, which kinda lets it down slightly, very slightly.

Zapdos' illustration is perfectly placed, the signature eye sparkle is present and the dark background, just showing enough holosheet off to boot. The very important name part has been done perfectly, just enough tint to make it appear slightly beveled and not an over the top holosheet either.

I only have 3 main gripes with the card tbh, both relatively minor but I'm a picky person lol....
  1. The spacing between the attacks and the attack icons is slightly too much, could have done with heading to the left a fair few pixels.
  2. The attack number font needs to have its strong/bold toning down slightly, its coming across very feathery there. The card number at the bottom right is also either too large or too thin, as I haven't looked into HGSS blanks yet, I do know its almost the same as the BW era (that being the same for attack icons, layout, etc as well)
  3. The third I'm not 100% sure with, but the wording for Chain Lightning has me confused. Where it says "Discard all Lightning Energy attached to your Pokemon". I'm not sure if thats meant to be saying all Active Pokemon, all lightning Energy is included, or if it should have been written as "Discard all Lightning Energy attached to Zapdos". That just confuzzled me is all.
All in all, very nicely made card B meister!

Corinthians Rose :
zapdoslegend_zpse84f052b.png

Corinthians first forray into the Legend card world, goes with an electric bang! You can be forgiven for instantly falling in love with the art used, it just screams Legend card to me!

Font/placement wise seems pretty good to me, except for the PokeBeach icon, that needed to be rotated clockwise. As with all Legend cards, theres no real set "layout", except for the fact that attack icons generally follow the same direction text goes (not always just mostly) and such.

The card itself is sadly too small and I struggled to see most of the text itself. Zapdos' left wing needed to be behind the right hand side, and its tail behind the border at the bottom, this would've allowed to appear to be "coming out" of the illus. box, adding in some more lightning style affects to cover any gaps that might've appeared. The box to the right as well is completely covered over, this box and its text should always been visible by the player.

Very nicely worded attacks, with slightly high damage for them but its Zapdos! One thing I must point out is the holosheet used, its not over the top or in your face (like mine tend to be) this is a good thing; as card scans generally don't always pick up shinyness, so it feels more 'real'.

Overall I feel if it were the original blanks size, with a tad more emphasis on Zapdos and its effects, it'd have come over all epic.com/corinthiansrose hehe.

Now to Count Shiny of ShinyWorld. You just can't look at the card without smiling, like the first time you open a booster and find you have a shining card in there lol! Its incredibly striking, very well laid out and you'd almost think it were real.

I think everything on this card is almost spot on, except for a few things :
  • Same as Blui's, Billybobs top right blank icon isn't correct.
  • I don't know if its just me, but the attack descriptions on both attacks seem somewhat stretched, and not as high as they porbably should be. I'm just not sure about that bit.
  • The lightning symbol on the 2nd attack seems either too small, or the spacing between the name + above attack are too large. However, this may appear so due to the stretched comment earlier, just not 100% sure on that one.
  • The rarity star should be a silver tinted foil texture.
All in all, we <3 Delta and his shinyness, its brillo :D I must add as well, the Leakage attack I do love, and by adding Reactive, it tones it down slightly so it doesn't come across and superawesomebroke. Again I'm not great with attacks and how'd they'd overly be used for real, but it seems nicely done to me.

With PMJ, you expect a certain degree of genius; Rotom doesn't fail to dissapoint and is brilliantly made.

Everything is placed perfectly, except for the illustration text and the card number/info at the bottom right, they need to be a fair few pixels higher up - they basically aren't meant to line up with the copyright text, on the far left. They could also do with moving slightly to the left, to allow space between them and the PokeBeach symbol.

The attacks are simple enough, but the second one has me confused. Mainly because I don't play the game anymore (just collect) Assuming Confuse is automatic and the 6 damage counters is always going to happen; should the 30 damage part be there?

All in all I love the card, PMJ needs to use my new blanks though, they be alon cleaner than my older ones hehe :)

...you know, already I love this card so much. I'm kinda glad the first submission is a Baby Pokemon. So, let's see... First, the Ability. It combines Sigilyph's Safeguard with an immunity to Special Conditions. It seems redundant, but things like Hypnotoxic Laser do exist as well, so it's not that redundant. And its attack is draw power - and since it can get things in your discard, you can scrap everything you don't want. Dem Eels.

I think the attack is what interests me more than the ability. The ability just keeps it alive longer (much longer) while it draws stuff en masse. It's like neo-Claydol or what have you. I am most impressed!

Let's see...it can attach Tool cards from the discard pile to itself, which is a nice way to recycle them, and its attack is pretty ordinary. What strikes me as unusual is the 90 HP and the lack of a weakness. The attacks are normal; the stats aren't. MAGNETON <3
One of my all-time favorites is represented this month, and that pleases me. What I like about this card is it manages to be normal and interesting at the same time - 50 damage Faint Attack with a small cost, and the second one is a costly attack with a nice snipe effect. Only things I find really off is that, on the first attack, when describing W&R and all that, Pokemon does use the Oxford comma (so Resistance is followed by a comma), and on the second one the don't-apply-W&R clause is missing.

But, overall...I love it!

dat Electrode. Always attaching Energies and blowing himself up. When coming into play it's a mini-Energymite for 4 cards, and Explosion is apparently an optional knockout. ...Doesn't detract too much from the card but it made me giggle (Explosion is usually an auto-KO to the user and does 20 damage to every Benched Pokemon). ...I guess the only issue I have is the wording; here are some examples:
~"Look at the top 4 cards of your deck" should end the sentence.
~Attaching to multiple Pokemon is "in any way you like".
~"Discard the other cards" instead.
~"You may not use an Ability with the same name during your turn."
~"You may Knock Out this Pokemon" should end the sentence.

But as far as cards and stuff actually go, it looks good and I'd love to use one someday.

I have a feeling not much work was put into this card, as there's not much capitalization, the Pokedex entry is really short, and I get the feeling the W/R/RC weren't filled in. Zapdos is a legendary bird pokemon that has the

stricken by lightning bolts.

The Pokedex entry there reminds me of Ruby/Sapphire, and its really artful Pokedex entries. I find it intriguing how you kept everything in one block, like using Justify font. In a sense, it makes it a bit easier to read. I see the same problem that is present in KoN's submission, though: lack of capitalization. This Lanturn is moderately scary, mostly because Electrolyte is an auto-stun. The wording in the end is a bit funny; I'm assuming it even prohibits attaching Energy via card effects like Deluge or Dynamotor. It's not that bit I'm worried about; it's that it paralyzes without a flip or anything, and can keep itself going forever. Other than that the card is fair, except you don't apply W&R for putting damage counters anyway :p

I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things but I feel like I didn't have very much to say this month on the text-based portion. Maybe I'm just tired. Maybe I'm deciding to go with a different style and not explain the card in depth when everyone already knows what it does. Maybe I'm just stupid. ...let me know if I wasn't good enough with my comments, please. The past few days have been odd for me.

In the image-based category, we have Blui emerging as the winner with his Zapdos Prime, scoring a nice score of 47, with Delta Nite and his super-shiny Electrode not far behind netting 46. aschefield101 fielded the judging on that one...and will apparently be doing so for the future months as well, which is great as the judging will finish in half the time!
In the text-based category, there were a LOT of close calls. AlexanderTheAwesome's Elekid and Fraxureking's Galvantula both tied for first with 49 points, with Delta's Magneton and The Fire Wyrm's Heat Rotom tying for second with 48. And there were a ton of people who got 45. It was pretty tough to pick a winner.

But there you have it, our three winners! The month of April is soon coming to a close, so expect May's Create-A-Card to be up late tonight or very early tomorrow. I believe I will have the signups to be 30 people total instead of 15 per category, as invariably the text-based gets far more people. As for what else to expect next month...it's actually interesting, because what I had planned for next month I'd completely forgotten about and it's oddly fitting.

With that...see you next month!

Oh snap! *Snaps fingers* So close!
Congrats to the winners. Some really interesting submissions this month.

asch: The wording is right; see Grumpig LA for reference. Also after looking at the new PF cards I can see that you're right, the stuff does need to be moved like four or five pixels up. I dunno, I guess it's just me using old stuff?

Also, the reason the set number appears so close to the set symbol is because I've been copying and pasting it from all the other cards I do. The PB CaC set symbol is really wide, so that's why the set number appears so close to the border. I don't see any reason not to shove them a few pixels to the left so as to give them some breathing room, though ;o

grats to the winners, with a prominent faker doing the image-based judging, scoring those 50s is gonna be really tough. See you guys next time :]

Well, stage 2 decks need a set-up buff in the current format. It's not broken or anything. Magnet Pull / Double Brain / Dynamotor might have a chance at succeeding in the current format, but it surely can't be too powerful, or what do you think? I'd love to play in a format where my cards existed. :3

The Fire Wyrm:

Rotom (Oven) 110HP Basic [L]

Ability: Bake
As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach a [L] Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon if there is any [R] energy attached to this Pokémon.

[L][R][C][C] Poison Their Cookies! 90
Discard an energy attached to this Pokémon. The defending Pokémon is now Poisioned.

Weakness: [W] x2
Resistance: [G] -40
Retreat Cost: [C][C][C]

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Just use that with the Chandelure or what-have-you, then Cilan for some Lightning Energy and go to town. I'm not sure why the resistance is -40, though. It's not like Heat Rotom is doubly resistant to Grass.
But I'm all for poisoning cookies. This card gave me a chuckle.

Creativity/Originality: 20/20
Wording: 14/15
Believability/Playability: 14/15
Total: 48/50

The resistance is -40 because ovens are also made out of metal :D

I was actually thinking of these guys. Oh, and don't forget LV.X.

You said that there would be a hint for the next cac but there was not? Also gratz to the winners.

46/50 is pretty good for a first ever entry, and Charge was like a reverse version of Elektrik's ability. You could attach an energy to your active Pokemon instead of benched Pokemon. Also I didn't want a fighting weakness because that would look kinda weird. Hope to get in the next cac!

Wait a dong gone second, look at what DNA posted in one of the posts

A Rotom. I get the feeling I'll be seeing more.
Rotom's other type is ghost, which is represented by psychic.

Psychic CAC confirmed?

I only make cards to spice up the current format, so I don't take older cards into account.

Yeah the attack stuff is hard for me tbh, as I don't play the TCG, I just collect/make shiny fakes. The old blanks are still the same as the newer ones tbh, all I mainly did was change the texture backgrounds (mainly for lightning/metal etc) their respective icons and such, oh and the ever important copyright 2013 haha

If I came across nit picky its not intended, I'm just very specific with some things more than others, they were all great cards :D

Wow, thanks guys :> This month was really good image based (except that there were only 5 entrants), everything was of a much better standard than in previous months. See you all soon!
