PokéBeach Create-A-Card: Oct. 2014 - Ghost

Where do you all get your images for your cards? I can't find any images that I can use without potentially breaking any copyright rules.

You mean the .GIF Images like the ones I use? Those I use them from here.

But if you're talking about image-based, you can see the author illustrations on the cards themselves. Many Pokémon image fakers either make their own art or partner up with an artist to make the card's art (like me and PMJ). You can also use screenshots from the anime or grab artwork from another resource (such as the artwork posted on the PokémonCardResources dA page that is free to use so long as credit is given).

I usually head to dA and use whatever is coolest unless the artist specifically says not to use it. Otherwise I do with credit.

@Ice Arceus
It seems that you have not noticed my entry. Here is the link to the page (2nd post): link
Thanks!

Here's my first CaC entry. :D I had to go with Fire, of course. :p

[Basic] Litwick HP70 [P]
litwick.gif

[Ability] Luring Flame
Once during your turn (after your attack), you may search your deck for Lampent or Chandelure, reveal it, and put it into your hand.

[P][F] Frightening Flame [20]
Flip 3 coins. If 1 of them is heads, the defending Pokémon is now Burned. If 2 of them are heads, the defending Pokémon is now Paralysed. If all of them are heads, the defending Pokémon is now Burned and Paralysed.

[P][F] Luring Light
Discard an [F] Energy attached to this Pokémon. If you opponent has any benched Pokémon, you may switch one of them with the defending Pokémon.

Weakness
[W]x2

Resistance
[F]-20

Retreat
[C]

Sorry. ;-;
[07/10/14 14:28:58] drohn91: im going to enter with litwick :D
[07/10/14 14:29:09] drohn91: i'll have to check if anyone else already had him though
[07/10/14 14:29:10] Heavenly Spoon: Sounds fine!
[07/10/14 14:29:17] Heavenly Spoon: You can use the same mon.
[07/10/14 14:29:22] Heavenly Spoon: They’re like, what, 20 ghosts?
[07/10/14 14:29:25] Heavenly Spoon: Less?
[07/10/14 14:29:26] drohn91: yea but it will feel less original
[07/10/14 14:29:31] Heavenly Spoon: No it won’t.
[07/10/14 14:29:35] drohn91: k
[07/10/14 14:29:40] drohn91: then I'll use litwick
[07/10/14 14:29:51] Heavenly Spoon: I’m very strict when it comes to originality, and I only care about mechanics, etc.
[07/10/14 14:30:14] Heavenly Spoon: If you use a Pokémon someone else used and use it far more creatively, it’s probably a bonus.
It shouldn't be a problem to both use Litwick, however. There are very few Ghost-type Pokémon so I expect more people to use the same.

Well this effect worked better as an evolutionary effect anyway.

[Stage 1] Lampent - HP 90
TCGMind

Evolves from Litwick

lampent.gif

SF-Ability
Heat the Soul
When this Pokémon is played from your hand to evolve Litwick, you may put 1 damage counter for each
TCGFire
Energy attached to that Pokémon on each of your Opponent's Pokémon. You may not use an Ability with the same name during your turn.

TCGFire
TCGFire
- Spirit Kindling – 40
If this attack knocks out your opponent's Active Pokémon, search your deck for a card that evolves from this Pokémon and put it onto this Pokémon. (This counts as evolving this Pokémon.) Shuffle your deck afterward.

Weakness:
TCGDark
x2
Resistance:
TCGRock
-20
Retreat:
TCGWhite
TCGWhite

A little bit of the syntax on the ability threw me off but I think I got the message across at least.
e: edited that last little blurb after the card in there, hope that doesn't count against me

Be careful when posting your entry though, because if you have to edit, or did edit your post you’ll have an instant deduction of 2 points from your overall score, and posting your entry again on a different post also deducts 2 points.

Yeah, every edit counts towards the deduction. :/

Here it is. I decided to go with a puppet theme but because we already have Banette...

Shuppet 60HP [P]

Ability: Hidden Puppeteer
This Pokémon can't be played. This Pokémon can't lose this ability.

[ ] Shadow Puppet
When you use this attack say "Pass" instead of announcing that you are using this attack. During your opponents next turn, if your opponent attacks all effects of that attack happen to your opponents active Pokémon. At the end of your opponents next turn this Pokémon is knocked out. You may use this attack even if this Pokémon is in your hand.

This ghost type is a masterful puppeteer. If it starts looking like it's being controlled watch out because it's trying to control you!

Weakness: [P] Resistance: [F] Reatreat:

Interesting attacks! You do have a typo (retreat), missing the basic and missing the stats (weight, height, etc). We will destroy the world with banettes and shuppets!

Stats are not needed on text last time I checked. Retreat is minor enough that it's not worth the edit IMO. Basic... I would edit but because it can't be played it doesn't matter anyways so it's probably better to leave it then take the editing penalty. I'll probably only get 1-3 points off for those anyways.

Cards in BW do require height/weight, assuming it is in that format.

I was not marked down for not using height/weight in previous CaC's so I'm assuming that this isn't true....

Remember Spoon is judging this time... Or was Spoon your last judge?

Nah, Luis was last judge, so I guess he was more lenient :) But from experience, BW cards do have height/weight on them:
