RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

I also believe it will be Kyogre because Rain provides so many combos. You have the Kygore and Vaporeon classic combination that restores large amounts of Vaporeon's health while cratering everything elses HP. Kingdra is beastly in the rain because of Swift Swim making it move before any other Pokemon. With access to Draco Meteor, it can do large amounts of damage to most Pokemon when it is equiped with Life Orb. If you want to further increase your damage, you could always go with Choice Specs, but you will want to switch out after using Draco Meteor twice. I think we should focus on Pokemon combos and how to beat them to be honest.

Beating the Kyogre and Vaporeon combo could be done with a Palkia. If Palkia has Specs, it is a very high chance of a OHKO with Thunder. Even with Life Orb which some players may prefer, it still does incredible damage to Kyogre. The benefit to using Life Orb is that if the weather is already rain, you can take advantage with Surf. Dialga can't really ruin Kyogre because of Water Spouts insane damage paired with Helping hand. You likely wouldn't survive.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Thats why Kyogre is the king of ubers. It's amount of combos are infinate. It is very feared no matter what.Palkia is the only thing that can really kill it without to much trouble.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Quagsire can also block Kyogyre well. It has immunity to both water and electric attacks. It also can learn Amnesia. A stall Quagsire might not be bad. You just need to keep it away from the Groudon/Jumpluff combo. Groudon/Jumpluff is tough to beat without changing the weather. Jumpluff will always get the jump on you and can put you to sleep. For this reason, it may be a good idea to have one Pokmeon with a Lum Berry that can take care of Jumpluff.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

I'm trying to figure out how to counter kyogre counters...rain dance all the way.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

palkia is the one Pokemon that can pretty much stop Kyogre. It is slightly faster than Kyogre and has better typing in my opinion. Being only weak to dragon type moves means Kingdra is one of the few things rain teams have that can beat it. Kingdra's Dragon Pulse isn't even a ohko if I remember correctly so Palkia could just slaughter it with Spatial Rend. I was almost thinking that Palkia with Specs and Kyogre with scarf might actually be a decent lead. Palkia can just do unsurmountable damage with Spacial Rend and it is resisted by very few Pokemon, which most of them wouldn't be that viable in doubles format anyway. Using Thunder isn't bad either as rain teams will be more popular than sun teams just because the Pokemon for rain teams seem to have better stats and move pools.

Example of a Sun Team:
Groudon
Jumpluff
Exxegutor
Mewtwo

I had to really struggle to even come up with a good four Pokmeon for Sunny day. Groudon is obvious to set the weather up. Jumpluff is obvious for putting your opponent too sleep and later Solarbeams, despite them not being very powerful. Exxegutor isn't terrible because it will have decent Speed in the sun and actually has a fairly large Special Attack score. It really needs to have HP Fire to be better though for taking out Grass Pokemon. Mewtwo would just be an all around sweeper and could hold Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Solarbeam, Thunder/Thunderbolt, Protect in case Groudon is out at the same time perhaps. you just don't get as many options with Sunny Day though and that is why I believe Sunny Day will not be used that much.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Just to let yall know if you want to stand a chance, we need to start IV breeding. I personally find no wrong in using RNG abusing techniques, and if I learn/remember how to do it I will.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Hey guys. I'm new to this team and competitive battling. I am going to a regional this year, and was wondering if you thought a hail team would do good?

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

A hail team would be ok due to constant damage, but be prepared for Rayquaza which will cancel it. That being said an Ice pokemon could kill Rayquaza pretty easy so. Its possible.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

^It's not as easy if Rayquaza's holding a yache berry, though. Rayquaza might be weak, but it's Sp. Def. isn't TerriBad. I would be more worried about a Rain team, or another whether team that would cancel out the Hail.

Also, thanks for letting me on the team. I was hoping to do the VGC This year, but I couldn't find anybody else that was interested. <_<

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

I'm still likely to run rain, but I'll take it more into consideration closer to the time. Any new info?

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

im using a rain team, with a kyogre- vapreon start, i might be good, the vapreon, will be set up like a wall

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

I plan on using
Kyogre
Vaporeon
Kingra
Rayquaza

with
Toxicroak
Jolteon
as subs.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

How well do you think an Explosion/Perish Song team would do in the VGC? I know it's risky... but it seems like a lot of fun.

If that doesn't work, I'm trying to make an anti-whether team. I know I'll want Rayquaza and Mewtwo in it, but I don't know what else combats Rain very well... I could just use Rain against my opponent, with Kingdra or Ludicolo or something...what do you guys think?

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Mewtwo would get slaughtered by scarf Kygore unless you plan on equiping it with Choice Scarf which I really wouldn't recommend because it has pretty high base speed. Explosion I am not so sure about because it can be easy to predict.

Well not now...I need some time to learn how to do it....

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

We need to stay active. I propose a new topic: explain if you think Hail Teams could have a chance at the VGC.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Hail teams are just so predictable, but they are still really good. I was thinking about using one myself.

Yeah, but the Kyogre's scarf-locked, which really hurts if I can get something like Vaporeon out there, since you don't usually want to take the time to swap out.

Explosion is predictable, but I didn't know wether it mattered or not, because more total-weather teams are going to be out there, and less Protect/Trick Room teams.

RE: PokéBeach VGC Domination - Professional Organized Team

Come on everyone, we need to be active here. I was hoping Dragon9 might have posted and changed the subject, but I guess I will. I'd like us to discuss if the Lat twins would actually work well in the VGC being that they can't hold Soul Dew.
