XY Pokémon Bank: Cloud Storage for Pokémon

Other then transferring pokemon from game to game is there really a need for the pokemon bank just for storing pokemon ? The boxses ingame are really not enough ?

I think what a lot of people are eager to do is get their Pokemon from previous games and use them on their teams both in game and for wifi. It's kinda rough when you spend a few years making the perfect Pokemon only to not be able to use them, especially for a delay.

Personally for me, it's so that I can start working on my Living Pokedex. I've never done before but I'm eager to start because I have so many Pokemon now from all my games almost all together.

I still don't think I understand you. It's cheaper to get Bank, safer, and you have more risk when you don't use it. Think of Pokémon Bank as a Safe, and a Cartridge as a wallet. there you go. Which do you have a higher chance of losing?

I am saying I don't loose my game carts. I would rather pay the $40.00 because I like to keep all my Pokemon intact and my system and games don't go anywhere outside my house. No one can hack my Pokemon if they are on my game carts and I always put them in my cases after use XD.:)

Hey if this thing can store 3,000 Pokemon, I wonder if I can just store all my non-shiny babies so I never have to tediously release them one by one. You say wonder trade them but that takes longer and people usually spam Zubats, Bidoofs or other useless Pokemon on it...

...I hope there's a mass delete button too... I mean release... <.<;;

So will Bank charge off of a credit/debit card or off the eshop?

All 3DS downloads link to the eShop. The eShop takes credit/debit cards if you don't want to go to a store and buy a prepaid eShop card.

Also remember everything you download goes on your SD card. If you are new to the forums it is like Playing Gamecube on 3DS. For example when you buy a GCN game for your GCN you need a GCN card in order to store the file for saving etc.:)

Does anyone know if you have to save it to the SD card? When I downloaded Chibi Robo, it wanted me to stick it on the SD card and I couldn't figure out why (and i had to delete demo saves)

Is it possible to just save it directly to the 3DS? I...don't really know much about how the storage stuff works as I haven't had to use any external storage for stuff yet.

5 dollars for this service is nothing.

You're paying 42 cents a month to use it and less than 2 cents a day.

Like you can pay for it just by going walking in a mall and picking up people's dropped change.

3D games can only be saved on SD cards Even VC games are saved there as well. Your 3DS cannot save on the regular 3DS save because it does not have the space to support it. 3D games require blocks to save XD.:)

And 3DS systems have Block memory too.
It's like the Wii, you don't actually NEED an SD card, you just need the room on the system.

How do I access that? Can I move my X version file to my #DS from my SD card to free up space on it? Can I do this without deleting my file?:)

Almost 3 weeks and still nothing... aye... I wonder why it has to take this long. I hope it doesnt end up in late February.

I saw a vid with all the legendaries and their signature moves. It was amazing.

I have all 3 BW starters and a Chimchar from GTS though. Maybe I'll open trade thread for y'all later today.

I don't know if you can move the save file. Is it on a Cartridge? If so it's stored on that anyway :p
Aaaanyway, this is getting off topic.
Anything else off topic and I'll be angry.

Just to answer your question Scorched Feathers It is the Digital eshop version so I was wondering if it could be moved to the 3DS rather than the SD card? Anyhow when will bank come out I have been checking the eshop everyday and it still says coming to eshop. The question is WHEN Nintendo? AT THE END OF TIME? Come on guys you are well overdue aren't we?:)

EDIT:

Here is a message from Nintendo. Not sure if it has been posted here but there is no confirmed date as of yet.

Release of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter postponed due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service
Information:

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International have postponed the launch of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter - two software applications that were originally scheduled to launch for Nintendo 3DS on Dec. 27 - due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service. Due to the high traffic, players are having trouble setting up Nintendo Network IDs and downloading content in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience.

How about considering Nintendo's position...
they try to put quality in everything they do...
and it's one thing if customers don't like it but its something else if the product doesn't work as promised...as was the case with bank.

Their servers were massively overloaded and Bank was only up for Japan...
can't you see they knew they had badly underestimated what they needed.

There is no way any corporation will make the same preventable mistake twice in a row...but I suspect esp not a Japanese one...

Sorry guys I am a bit on edge because I have my last 12 Pokemon ready to be transferred and I am getting my 5th gen team ready as well. I am just tired of waoting. If they had a transfer machine this wpuld have been don 3 months ago XD.:)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't data transfer from a DS game to a 3DS game very hard to transfer without an app or something? If this is the case, then an ingame transfer would be very complicated.
I remember hearing somewhere that Pokemon is the first company to actually do a DS - 3DS transfer thing.

I read somewhere that there was no way for a DS to communicate with the 3DS.
I assume they decided on cloud storage because both could communicate with the web and it would be a better option to having no transfer at all.
