King frowns. He says, "Hey, I just thought of something. That Blastoise was a con man, and he would want an escape if he got caught. We should search for a trap door."

Ooc: I'd bet that the tunnel connects to the house.

Myzer looked around carefully, for any trace of... well, anything. "Everything's gone," he stated, pointing out the obvious. "It is very possible he had an escape route, but remember what the Umbreon said? He said he saw two people moving him out. Let's look for secret door or something though, just in case."

OOC: Now we need Ezio's Eagle Vision. :p

Ranald's eyes adjusted to the lighting. He got up against the wall, sidestepping across the floor until he got near the corner. He peeked his head around the corner to see if anything was there.

There, he could see two guards at the sides of wooden doors, remaining alert for anyone. Luckily, they did not catch sight of Ranald.

The shack was literally empty of anything possible of hiding things, except the wooden floor and drawers.

King gets angry. He stomps his foot, and accidentally cracks a floorboard. He looks at Myzer and says, "we've gone cold. Any suggestions?"

Myzer looked down and the cracked floorboard. "That cracked pretty easily. It should be supported by the concrete filling underneath. It's possible this house was built poorly. But it's also possible there is a hidden trap door, or a passage underneath the house."

OOC:If we're still on the second floor how could there be a trapdoor underneath us? That doesn't make sense to me...

OOC:But Blastoise was up a floor, as King said when he first saw it. So that means if we saw the Blastoise and coins missing we would be on the 2nd floor...maybe we'll just say we went downstairs for no apparent reason first?

OOC: Ah, good point. We'll say we returned downstairs to discuss any possible clues.

Ranald was puzzled as to why the guards did not hear his footsteps. Even while walking, he could be heard from dozens of feet away. He took a deep breath, then began to walk into the open where the guards could see him.

Yet the crack in the wooden floor where King stood didn't seem to have anything under it. If it was hidden under the floor, they were standing in the wrong spot.

"Hmm? You came a bit early for-" the guard startled when he realized the person walking in wasn't their ally, both quickly taking out their short swords in self-defense. The closest one, an Ampharos, charged his weapon with electricity, his the back end of his teal bandana raising up from ion repulsion. The other one on the other side of the door was a Tyranitar, not quite as alert for the surprise.

Ranald deployed a little self-defense technique of his own, putting a hand on the hilt of his blade as he stood slightly sideways to face the guards.
"I have no intention on fighting you unless you make the first strike. I'm just investigating a crime that took place. If you put down your weapons, I will put down mine, as I mean no harm. I just want to ask some questions. Would that be alright with you?"

King pauses. He says, do you hear something? He runs out the door. It sounded like something is moving underground..." King moves towards the area he heard the sound from. He puts his ear to the ground and listens for more noise.

Ooc: Due to the fact that King practices Earth Magic, and already has great hearing, he can detect sounds in the ground very well, similar to how aquatic animals hear better than us underwater.

King says, "only a few feet, but I think there is a metal cirling. That might be a little difficult to get through. Take a step back please." King moves a few feet away, so if he falls through, it's not on top of whoever's down there. King puts his hand on the ground, and pulls up. A cylindrical chunk of Earth, large enough for them all to fit through, is removed. There is a metallic cieling. King feels it and says, "it's not as thick as I thought." King pulls out his large cutlass, and cuts a clean circle around the edge. He jumps in to inspect the sounds.

He landed with a thud down to some hallway.

The Ampharos thought for a few seconds, the sword still firmly in hand.
"We'll answer questions, but we're not letting our guard do-"
A faint sound echoed from afar behind the door they were guarding, causing both of them to stop and look behind them.
"... you think..."
"Leave it to the West-side guards," the Ampharos dictated, redirecting his attention to the Conkledurr.

"That is acceptable."
Ranald took his hands off of his blade.
"Do you know anything about a Blastoise? One who collected tariffs for this town?"

Alex follows King down and advances cautiously through the hallway, ready to react at the slightest movement.
