Writing Pokémon: The legend of Aura (12 Chapters)

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Nice chapter, probably your best one yet. This story just gets better and better ;)

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Now this one was really good. The Pokemon 2000 reference wasn't lame, at least not too lame. Nice touch.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Wow, I love this story. That was probably the worst reference anyone EVER could have made.

Chapter 7

Aaron hiked through the wasteland of the island he had picked out. He chose this island, because it seemed to be the only one that didn't require him to climb a massive mountain to get where he needed to be. Yet, this island didn't turn out to be much better. Aaron barely kept himself going, the only thing cooling him off was the wind that Pidgeot's wings generated right above him. The only shadow Aaron had was that of a rock sticking out of the sand here and there. His journey on this island had lasted almost three days now, and he didn't know how much longer he'd be able to keep going.

While Dio's team was still searching the islands, one of the last student groups returned from their own mission, making Dio's team the only one that hadn't returned yet. An argument ensued about wether their mission was succesfull or not.

"My lord...in my opinion, these students are not capable of becoming true Aura Wielders, their mission was a failure!" Girat argued.

"Yes, that's true...they couldn't eliminate the Almian troops located there. That was their mission." Arc agreed, to which Palia's group looked down with a hint of dissapointement in their faces.

"However, they have provided us with valuable information of Almia's plans. This news of a 'Dark Shard'...I find it quite disturbing, we can only hope they cannot revive Regigigas..." Arc said.

Girat wanted to reply, but couldn't find a way to bring up a valid argument.

"Kira...Riku, henceforth, you will carry the title of Aura Wielder, and may you carry it with honor." Arc announced, Riku and Kira bowed in respect, and silently left the room.

"Palia...i want you to return to Snowpoint, keep an eye on the situation there. Should they be able to revive Regigigas, we'll need to know as soon as possible." Arc commanded.

Meanwhile, Aaron finally reached the center of the island, and in front of him, a cave. Above the cave's entrance was a sign, carved into the stone.

"Here guards the Titan of Lightning..." Aaron read.

"Well, that's just maddingly unhelpful..." He thought to himself, and entered the cave, unsure of what he'd encounter.

The cave was nothing more than a seemingly endless tunnel, with nothing but darkness ahead of him. After a few minutes of walking, he noticed the exit, a bright light in the distance, and he ran the last couple of feet towards it. He was greeted by the blowing wind. He was in a rocky area, with the sides covered by rocky spikes. He seemed to be on top of the small mountain that formed the center of the island, it was also alot cooler here than it was in the desert below. He quickly noticed the sphere of prince Cress, in the center of the area, and slowly advanced towards it.

After that, everything happened at the speed of light. Aaron was caught off guard as he felt a stinging pain in his shoulders, closing his eyes momentarily. When he re-opened them, he noticed himself flying high above the island, with the crackling sound of lightning just above his head. A large pokémon with spiky yellow feathers was holding onto Aaron tightly, nearly crushing his shoulders. The pokémon started making loops in the air, making Aaron lose his sense of orientation. Suddenly, the grip on his shoulders was gone, and he now noticed he was falling down again, or flying upwards, he couldn't make it out. Aaron kept going for a few seconds when Pidgeot came up underneath him. Now on Pidgeot's back, Aaron flew after the mysterious pokémon, barely being able to keep up. As Aaron came closer, he noticed that the pokémon was wearing a large metalic collar, with a purple gem embedded in it.

Aaron had Pidgeot doing Wing Attacks regularly, causing his opponent to slow down, and hopefully weaken it a bit. He couldn't defeat it entirely, as he'd need the pokémon's help to complete his mission. Aaron's original plan had worked, and he was able to catch up, now flying right above the yellow pokémon. Aaron jumped off of Pidgeot, hoping what he did was a good idea, and aimed to land on the other pokémon's back. He could barely just grab it's tail, and pulled himself up, causing the pokémon to flinch slightly. It now tried to shake Aaron off, but was unsuccessful. The bird released a shock of thunder, causing Aaron to lose his grip as he slided backwards, nearly falling back off. Aaron regained his senses just in time, and held onto it's tailfeathers again. Not planning to make the same mistake, Aaron used his aura to generate a shield around his entire body, an ability that wasn't very common to other Aura Wielders. The pokémon again released a shock, this one more fierce than the last, but Aaron was able to withstand the sudden surge of electricity this time, and climbed back up to it's neck, now hanging onto the collar.

Pidgeot flew right behind them, but staying at a safe distance in case Aaron would fall off again. Aaron noticed a rather sizable chain that kept the collar in place, and used an aura-charged punch to break the chain, making the collar fall off, landing in the ocean below and sinking to the bottom. The pokémon calmed down, and landed back on the island, next to the sphere, making Aaron slide off it's back. Aaron sighed in relief, still getting used to the solid ground underneath his feet as the yellow bird looked at him expectantly, as if it was waiting for Aaron to explain why he was here.

"T-titan of Lightning..." Aaron spoke, still catching his breath, at which the pokémon offered it's attention to Aaron's words.

"I am in search of Prince Cress of Almia..." Aaron said, not knowing what else to say, or what protocol he needed to adress this most dangerous of guardians. But Aaron kneeled in respect, just in case.

When Aaron re-opened his eyes, and stood up, he realized it was now the pokémon who kneeled before him. Aaron came closer, understanding the guardian's gesture. Aaron took place on it's back, and not a second later, took off into the sky. As he came up above the island, he noticed two other mythical birds, much like this one, flying away from the islands, and realized his two companions had also succeeded.

---

My lord...i've discovered what we need for Regigigas' awakening...Three pokémon, that are to combine their life force with that of Regigigas. They're in the Hoenn region." Girat spoke as he once again kneeled in the darkness of his room.

"Good, at least that's some good news from you..." the sinister voice replied.

"I've already sent someone there to recover them..." Girat said.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Chapter 8

"Do you see anything?" Kira asked.

"It's moist, cold, and dark, of course i can't see anything..." Riku responded.

"Why're you complaining all the time, Riku?" Kira asked again, while continueing their journey through the cave, with nothing but a torch in their hands, only lighting the cave passage a little.

"We always get the crappy missions...Aaron and Linc got sent off to some tropical islands, and here we are again, hiking through moisty caves and rainy forests..." Riku complained.

As Riku finished his sentence, they suddenly entered a larger chamber of the cave, causing the torches they held to radiate more light. They could practically see the entire room like this. They headed to the back of the room, where they noticed something carved into the wall.

"What do you think this is?" Riku asked.

"Nothing...just like Registeel's cave..." Kira replied.

"I don't see Regirock anywhere. You sure we're in the right place?" Riku inquired, slightly annoyed.

"I'm pretty sure, these markings were in Registeel's cave too." Kira said.

"Yeah...but Registeel wasn't home either." Riku responded.

"Dammit, those Almians are always one step ahead of us! I guess you're in luck..." Kira noted.

"Why?" Riku asked.

"Regice is hiding on a tropical island. Let's go!" Kira noted. Realizing the situation wasn't as funny as her comment, they rushed out of the cave, and headed for their next target.

---

Meanwhile, Linc and the guardian of fire, who he was able to subdue, landed on a volcanic island. Just after Linc jumped off, the pokémon took off into the distance, almost immediatly dissapearing among the clouds above. In the distance, Linc noticed the mainland. He realized it must've been Almia's shores he was watching, and he had to be careful around this area. However, there wasn't any sign of the prince, or any other form of civilisation for that matter. All he saw was an old wooden cabin, that seemed to be abandoned some time ago.

"Another volcano...i should've known..." Linc sighed.

As linc scouted the area around the volcano, he noticed a cave entrance. The moment he took a step inside, the temperature rose to a nearly unbearable heat, but as there was no sign of prince Ran outside the volcano, there was but one option left. Linc walked through the endless labyrinth of tunnels, cracks in the sides and floor of the caves venting hot steam every now and then. After about an hour of searching, Linc entered a large hall. The air here was a bit cooler, since the area wasn't as confined as before, however, it was still incredibly hot.

Linc noticed a slight breeze coming from above, and looked up. He noticed a large hole in the roof that led to the outside. This must've been the center of the volcano. In front of Linc was a large pool of hot, liquid magma, which confirmed his previous assumptions. There was a stone path leading from one side of the pool to the other. Linc made his way across the path, and as he came closer to the other side, noticed another cave entrance. This cave was only a single tunnel, unlike the maze of tunnels he was walking through earlier. As he neared the end, he saw a bright red light, he also noticed the temperature rose again. He entered a room, and at the far end of it was a shrine, holding a large red crystal. This was what likely caused the red light he saw just now. His gaze was quickly diverted as he saw someone lying on the ground, right next to the flow of lava that covered all edges of the room. Linc quickly ran towards the figure, and turned him around so he could see the man's face.

"Prince Ran...so that's how it is, then..." Linc spoke silently, inspecting the body a bit more. He unsheathed prince Ran's sword. The hilt was as red as fire, decorated with golden markings, and the blade was as black as coal. Linc re-sheathed the sword and decided he should take it with him. If the other two princes were still alive, they should have some sort of proof about their brother's demise. Just as he was about to leave, he noticed the lava was boiling harder than before. Something jumped out of the river of lava at incredible speed. Linc couldn't see what it was until it landed on the ground infront of him, causing a small earthquake which made Linc fall down.

The pokémon standing infront of him seemed to be made entirely of magma, with chunks of unprocessed metal sticking out of its body, and its face covered with a mask, made out of the same metal. It slowly advanced towards Linc in an inquisitive manner. Linc was in shock, he didn't realize that the pokémon in front of him meant no harm, until he drew prince Ran's sword and stood up to attack. The now raging pokémon expelled a wave of fire from its body which sent flames going in every direction. Linc's only defense was a rock pillar near the edge of the room. It now unleashed a Flamethrower, focussing it's attack on the rocky pillar. It could withstand the heat for a while, but soon melted due to the incredible temperature. Linc barely dodged the attack, and ran in the pokémon's direction with the prince's sword in hand. Linc was able to hit the metallic mask that covered the pokémon's face, and kept swinging at it for a while, but it seemed to have no effect as the pokémon didn't even bother moving. The metal provided an excellent physical defense.

Linc jumped backwards, realizing his attacks didn't do anything. Suddenly, the sword started glowing with a faint blue light. Linc wasn't doing anything, but he realized that his own aura was being absorbed by the blade. He advanced again, hitting the pokémon's face again with all the strength he had. The metal cracked, which made the pokémon flinch. Linc saw his chance and escaped through the tunnel, heading for the exit. As linc reached the center of the volcano, he turned around and this time, willingly tried to combine his aura with the blade. It seemed to work, and thrusted the sword into the ground, causing the entrance to collapse. He re-sheathed the sword, and left in a hurry.

---

After a long and tiring walk, lasting over more than a week, Riku and Kira arrived at a beach. They were still in hot pursuit of the three pokémon that could awaken Regigigas.

"So now what? The road ends here...unless you're thinking of swimming!" Riku noted in a sarcastic tone.

Without responding, Kira looked around for a solution, and quickly noticed a pile of wood in the distance, washed up against a bunch of rocks at the edge of the beach. She ran towards it, with Riku following her shortly after.

"It's an old raft...you think it still does the job?" Kira asked.

"Maybe...if we patch it up a bit, but a raft? There has to be something better." Riku replied, not willing to set sail on a raft that'll barely work.

"Unfortunatly, we're running out of time. This'll have to do..." Kira noted.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Awesomeness. I see how you slow the story down, like you were telling me about. I'll be sure to use this technique in my upcoming chapters.

I like how Kira is so animated.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Wow simply amazing. I can't tell from your description of the Pokemon Linc faced was though. I kept on trying to think of what it was but can't. That made the story all more interesting. I love this Fanfic!

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Chapter 9

Aaron hiked through the desolate wasteland, where the electric guardian had just dropped him off a couple of hours ago. He was dehydrated and exhausted, not to mention annoyed at having to walk through a desert again. After a few more minutes, Aaron fell down out of exhaustion, lying face-down in the sand. As he lifted his head, barely being able to do so, he noticed an oasis in the distance. Before being able to react however, he fainted due to the heat and drought of the desert.

A few hours later, Aaron woke up. As his vision focussed, he realized he was inside a tent, made out of beast hides and some sticks. There also was a wet rag on his head, cooling him off. He sat up on the edge of the makeshift bed, and looked around. Even though it was just a tent, it seemed like a place where one could live for years. His eyes still adjusting to the new surroundings, Aaron slowly stood up, and walked outside, greeted by a hot sun and a slight breeze. Directly infront of him he noticed the oasis he saw earlier. Out of nowhere, Pidgeot swooped down and pushed Aaron into the sand, obviously happy to see him alive. And only seconds later, Aaron noticed another figure blocking out the sun.

"So...you're alive after all..." the man said.

Aaron stood up and wiped the sand of his clothes. The man infront of him wore an Almian armor, with more yellow colors however, fitting together perfectly with the yellow cape he was wearing. His hair was rough and long, with an equally rough beard. When Aaron looked closer, he noticed Almia's royal crest on the man's armor.

"Zapdos let me know he brought someone here, so i figured it must've been you." he said, while Aaron was still trying to remember what happened, but suddenly it came to him.

"Zapdos...So you're...!" Aaron spoke

"Prince Cress...or just plain old Cress now, it seems. I'm no prince, not anymore..." Cress replied, with a sad smile on his face, remembering what the civilized world was like.

"Let's get out of the sun." Cress said, immediatly changing the subject. He held up the curtain that closed his tent off from the outside world, allowing both Aaron and Pidgeot to enter.

"I thought you said 'tropical island'..." Riku said, while arriving at the tiny bit of land where Regice supposedly was.

"So?" Kira asked, not knowing what Riku meant.

"This is a piece of dirt with a giant rock and some palmtrees..." Riku replied, obviously annoyed.

Just as Riku and Kira reached the other side of the small island, they flattened themselves against the wall when they heard someone talking. As they slowly peeked around the corner, they noticed a rather small sailboat, there were two people on it, along with a giant metallic cage. The bars of the cage were decorated with purple crystals, much like the Dark Shard they've seen before, and inside of the cage, Regirock and Registeel.

"Those guys aren't Almians...they look more like poachers..." Kira whispered. Then, her attention was diverted to the cave entrance.

"Finally, it took you long enough!" one of the men on the boat yelled.

"I don't see either of you helping me! You could've at least let me borrow Houndoom for this thing!" the man yelled, with Regice walking behind him in defeat unable to move, and roped up a smidgeon on the tight side.

"After all, Weavile doesn't really have any effective moves against this thing!" the man cursed at the other two on the boat.

Just then, Kira rushed through the man and Regice, using her aura control to boost her speed, pulling the rope out of his hands. As the three were distracted by Kira's bold move, Riku jumped out of his hiding place as well, and smacked the man's face, knocking him down, while Riku also made a run for it.

"Yo, Willis! You ok?!" one of the men said while jumping off the boat.

"Don't mind me, you fool! Get Regice back here!" Willis commanded.

Shortly after, both of them called their Houndoom from the boat and chased after Riku and Kira, who were able to carry Regice onto their raft. They were able to push off the raft and float along with the current. One of the Houndoom used a flamethrower, but the raft was just out of it's reach.

"So now what do we do? They've got a sailboat, we won't be able to stay away from them for long!" Riku noted. And he was right. Shortly after Riku's comment, the three men came closer to the raft, their boat going after them at full speed.

Just when Willis' group came closer to the raft, a huge pillar of water shot out of the ocean, their boat being caught in the blast, which sent them flying into the distance. Riku and Kira both noticed a gigantic shadow underneath their raft.

"Is that a...Wailord?" Riku asked in slight disbelief. The Wailord's movement also made the current there go alot faster. The raft got caught in the current, and speeded forward.

"What?! You're planning to infiltrate Almia Castle, kill the king, and expect to walk back out alive?! No offense, but that's impossible..." Cress exclaimed, surprised he'd ever hear such a plan.

"It won't be impossible if you help us. You've been there, you know hidden ways in and out of the castle." Aaron said, trying to reason with Cress.

"See me? being here in this dessert? Why do you think i'm here right now? We failed to do, what you plan to do now. So why do you think I can help?" Cress asked.

"Well, if you won't help us, i'm sure Ran or Luco will..." Aaron said while standing up, and facing the exit.

"Wait...You've sent someone after Luco!?" Cress asked in disbelief.

"What about it?" Aaron asked, looking back at Cress.

"Luco was never banished from Almia, if your companion used Articuno to reach his location, he should've ended up in the castle. Meaning he's either dead, or if you're lucky, held captive." Cress explained.

"Then, instead of asking...I'm begging for your help. At least help us enter the castle, we'll do the rest." Aaron said.

"Your funeral...but if you're so bent on having your way, i guess i'll help out." Cress said.

---

Meanwhile, Linc was still on the shore of the volcanic island, walking around, contemplating on a way to get away from there. It didn't seem as if his former means of transportation would return. Linc decided to rest for a while, and sat down on a rock at the edge of the beach, waves washing up against it.

"Hey! Need a lift?" a woman yelled from afar, waving her left hand so she'd be noticed.

Linc looked up, in the distance he saw three figures standing on a raft. He couldn't see who it was, but recognized the voice to be Kira's. Linc swiftly dived off the rock, and swam towards the raft.

"Any more weight and we'll sink..." Riku sighed, so depressed of the current situation he'd almost cry.

Good job. The upped intensity helped a lot, maybe you can try for some subtlety now.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Chapter 10

Several days have passed since Linc was found by Kira and Riku. The Regice they'd retrieved was kept safe within the underground sanctuary of the Aura Wielders. At this time, Aaron had just returned with their most welcome guest, and immediatly reported his findings to Lord Arc.

"My lord, I've returned with prince Cress, but I'm afraid things may have gotten more complicated." Aaron said, while kneeling as one always did in front of Arc. He was listening intently, and allowed Aaron to continue.

"Our sources regarding the princes were untrue. Prince Luco was never banished from Almia, and Dio was led to his location by Luco's guardian pokémon. Most likely, Dio is being held captive in Almia Castle..." Aaron explained.

"I see, we'll need to act quickly then. Send in prince Cress, we'll need a plan as soon as possible. You should also summon Linc for me. He has information Cress should know about as well." Arc commanded.

"And Aaron, both you and Linc have proven yourselves as true Aura Wielders. Other than that, you deserve some rest, so be sure to get plenty." Arc said as Aaron was already on his way out.

Days passed as a plan of attack was carefully put together. Not only did they have to plan the assasination, but also Dio's rescue. Therefore, the infiltration group was going to be alot bigger than anticipated, which in turn would endanger the operation alltogether. Ran's death didn't seem to affect Cress in the slightest, but Cress had gained a natural ability to supress his feelings after years of solitude. But he also gained a sense of failure, as if nothing he did would ever work. Because of this, Cress allowed Linc to keep his brother's sword. The sword wouldn't do Cress any good, he said. After a more than decent plan was put together, Arc had called all who were involved to his chamber.

"Good, you're all here...I'm pleased to say an effective plan is now assembled, courtesy of Linc and Cress. And it seems the five of you are currently the best choice for this operation. Cress has also agreed to help in the king's assasination, but before I explain more, I have something else to announce." Arc explained.

Aaron, Linc, Riku, Kira, and Cress looked up at Arc's sudden statement, as if it seemed more important than the mission.

"I have spoken with the recently appointed ruler of Cameron, Lady Rin. The services Aaron and Linc have done for the kingdom have impressed her greatly, and she has announced you shall be knighted. This is highly uncommon, especially since you haven't done that much yet..." Arc continued.

---

The next day, Aura Wielders and students alike, gathered in the large center hall of the Aura Wielders sanctuary. The knighting would take place here, rather than in Cameron Castle, due to the simple fact that Aura Wielders were unheard of by the common people, and had to remain secret. As Aaron and Linc approached Lord Arc's throne, now being occupied by Lady Rin, she stood up, and walked forward. At this time, the duo of Aura Wielders stood infront of their ruler, and kneeled.

"For your services to the kingdom of Cameron, and your loyalty to the throne, and your skill in battle, I, Lady Rin, knight thee, Sir Linc and Sir Aaron." Lady Rin spoke as she knighted them, using a ceremonial sword.

"Rise, knights of Cameron. May this be but one of the many titles you shall obtain over the years." Rin continued, after which the two stood up, and faced the audience. A tremendous applause could be heard through the halls. While most of them were in a jolly and uplifted mood, the two knights were tense about their mission. They were unsure if their abilities would be enough to handle such an advanced operation.

"Isn't that just typical..." Riku noted indifferently.

"Now what?" Kira sighed.

"Them getting knighted while we did twice as much as they did..." Riku answered, and left the main hall.

Shortly after the knighting, Arc called the five into his chamber, where they would hear the rest of their mission's details. Time was a luxury they didn't have, after all.

"Allright, thanks to Cress' information, we now know the castle of Almia is deep within the Hia Valley. For starters, the harsh weather conditions there will slow you down, but it's only a minor downside, if we stay low to the ground, we can sneak through their guard posts undetected. Cress will guide you through it. After entering the castle, you will split up into two groups. Girat will lead the assasination attempt, while Aaron and Riku will tag along to ensure victory. Kira, Linc, and Cress will team up towards the dungeons of the castle, where Dio should be." Arc explained.

"Yes, Sir!" four of them replied in unison, but Cress felt no obligation to reply.

"One more thing, Cress' information dates from 7 years ago. Most likely, things would have changed by now, so prepare for unexpected circumstances. You will leave tommorow morning. I have already sent Girat there in advance, he'll be waiting." Arc continued.

Meanwhile in Almia Castle's dungeon, Dio was awoken by a bucket of cold water. The person in front of him was the last person he'd expect to see there, in that place. Both Dio's mind and vision were still foggy, but he could recognize the voice. He also realized his wrists and ankles were chained to the wall.

"Dio...have you forgotten?" the man in front of him asked.

"Wha...forgotten..." Dio mumbled as he slowly came to his senses, he noticed someone next to him, also being chained to the wall. She was still unconcious however.

"Have you forgotten what true power feels like!?" the voice asked again, in a more agitated manner, forcing Dio to snap awake completely.

"Girat...what...what're you doing?" Dio asked, now noticing the woman next to him was his sister, Palia.

"Oh, she's had the same treatment you're getting now. I...helped her remember what she's forgotten." Girat grinned.

"Well how about you unlock these chains so i can kick your behind, you traitor!" Dio yelled, trying to struggle free.

"Hey, i'm only trying to help you. And once i've helped you remember, you'll remember to help me!" Girat said in a surprisingly calm manner.

Girat took hold of Dio's face, holding him in place, forcing Dio to look at him. Dio responded by spitting in his face. Girat took a step back, wiping off his face.

"We're not getting anywhere like this, are we? Time for some alternative methods then!" Girat said, and knocked Dio out again.

----------

I'm not too fond about this particular chapter, but it seemed like it was the only way i could make it work. I've written this chapter like 4 or 5 times, but this version was the best i could make of it.

Still hoping you like it though :p

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Still simply amazing. I had a feeling Girat was a traitor from the very beggining. I wish that chapter was a bit longer though.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura

Have you noticed that, even though this is a fanfic about Sir Aaron, Lucario hasn't even been mentioned yet? Well, there's a good reason for that :p I've contemplated on various ways of including Lucario into the story.

My first thought was: Aaron had Riolu instead of Pidgey.
Then i thought of a detour to Iron Island in Sinnoh, where he'd find a certain pokémon's egg. Eventually, i chose option #3.

Enjoy Chapter 11 :D

Chapter 11

"Where's Girat!? He should've been here by now!" Aaron yelled through the harsh blizzard they were walking through.

"I don't know, but we have to keep going! If we linger, we're easier to spot. Now move!" Cress yelled back at Aaron and the rest of the group.

The infiltration team that was sent to Almia Castle had just entered the Hia Valley, and were already greeted by a fierce snowstorm. They used their arms to protect their faces from the harsh conditions, and used their aura vision to keep going without problems. However, even with the aura vision, they couldn't find Girat anywhere. After two hours of hiking through the blizzard, and taking out a couple of guards that discovered them by accident, they had reached the northern side of the caste. In front of them was a small cave entrance, closed off by a barred gate.

"Backdoor huh? You got a key, Cress?" Linc asked.

"I do, but it doesn't fit anymore..." Cress replied as he tried to open the door.

"Just stand back already..." Riku sighed and stepped towards the gate as the others took a few steps back. A blue glow was clearly visible in Riku's fist, and he punched the lock, which in turn knocked the gate open. Riku shook his hand after the slight pain it still caused while the rest of the group walked inside. The blowing wind was less audible, and it was slightly warmer than it was outside.

"Allright, we're in. Now, the main hall isn't far from here, just go to the end of this hallway, take a left, and keep going up the stairs. Naturally, the door'll be locked, but i don't think it'll be much of a problem." Cress explained to Aaron and Riku.

"But what about Girat? I don't think we can manage without him." Aaron asked.

"I know, but we don't know where he is, there's no point in waiting!" Cress repeated.

"I'll guide Linc and Kira as far as i can into the dungeons, then i'll head for the throne room as well. Questions?" Cress continued.

"Are there any guards upstairs?" Riku asked.

"Of course. Once you're up there, exercise extreme caution. Stay out of sight, and only attack to prevent someone from raising the alarm!" Cress warned.

"Ok, let's move!" Aaron said as the group split up.

Cress, Linc, and Kira headed downstairs towards the dungeons. As they entered the maze of hallways that connected the cells, they swiftly and silently took out all the patrolling guards. Cress took the keys from one of them, as they could be helpful. Desperatly, they checked every cell they encountered. Most of them were empty, until they heard someone talking up ahead, and hid behind the nearest corner they could find. They carefully poked their heads out to see what was going on. The talking stopped, and they heard one of the cell gates opening and closing again. They saw Girat walking out of the cell, and out of their sight.

"What the...what's Girat doing down here?" Linc asked, obviously not expecting an answer.

When they noticed the coast was clear, they slowly ran towards the cell Girat just left. They saw Dio, and surprisingly, Palia as well, both chained up against the wall. Both were concious, but only barely. Cress opened the cell with the keys he took, while Linc and Kira quickly rushed towards the two, trying to break open the chains, and eventually, the chains were broken. Dio and Palia both fell down out of exhaustion.

"Gir...Girat....traitor..." Dio managed to say, before passing out.

"Get them away from here, i'll head to the throne room. Aaron and Riku may need help!" Cress commanded, and ran off.

---

Aaron and Riku came to a door at the end of the staircase. It was locked, as Cress said it would be. This door was only made of wood, and Riku easily broke the lock, punching a hole through the door, rather than forcing the lock to open. They immediatly gained the attention of a guard walking passed the door.

"Hey! Who the--" the guard asked in surprise, immediatly getting a taste of Riku's fist, which sent him flying into the wall on the other side of the hallway.

"Heh, I should copyright that move..." Riku noted while looking at his fist.

"Quiet! We're supposed to be stealthy, remember!? ...I'll lead." Aaron whispered.

"Of course... 'Sir' Aaron" Riku replied mockingly, hating the fact that Aaron was now officially his superior.

After snooping around for a while, carefully staying out of sight. They came up to a gigantic door, and noticed two guards in front of it. They could safely assume this was the throne room, and that their target was behind it. In a swift and silent manner, they took out the guards unheard, and entered through the smaller door that was made into the larger one.

"I heard there was some vermin walking around..." a man in the back of the throne room noted, and came closer. The man wore an armor similar to that of Cress, the only difference being the color. He was also holding a wooden staff. On top of the staff was a shiny crystal, being covered by a metallic brace. Two metallic components hung loose from the brace, looking slightly like a canine's ears.

Aaron and Riku merely gazed upon the man that came closer to them. This wasn't the king of Almia.

"Do you guys notice something? Or rather, do you notice something that isn't there to be noticed?" He asked.

"You haven't raised an alarm..." Aaron replied.

"And you're not the one we're looking for." Riku added.

"Ah yes...you're here for my father, he's not here right now. But i can take a message if you like!" The man said while drawing his sword.

"You think you can win? It's two against one." Aaron warned.

"How perceptive of you...looks like i'll need some help then. Lucario!" The man yelled, and thrusted the staff against the ground. The crystal on top of it began to shine brightly, as a pokémon's silhoutte appeared. As the light cleared, a Lucario became visible.

"Your command...Master?" Lucario asked, showing no emotion, not even having to open his mouth to talk.

"Take care of the guy in blue. I'll handle this one!" He commanded while advancing towards Riku.

At that moment, the door behind them opened.

"Did i miss any....Luco!? What're you doing?" Cress asked in slight shock as he saw Luco attacking Riku.

When Luco noticed his brother, he stopped the attack. However, Lucario continued to attack Aaron. Luco tried to bring his feelings to the surface, but somehow couldn't, as if something was stopping him. Riku saw Luco holding his chest out of pain, and then saw a small purple crystal embedded in a necklace he wore.

"Cress!" Aaron yelled from afar while dodging Lucario's attacks. "That's the same thing i saw on Zapdos! Destroy it!"

Cress nodded and drew his sword. Shortly after, he charged towards Luco, and tried to swing at the necklace, hoping to destroy it. However, Luco easily blocked Cress' sword with his own. Then, the massive door opened as ten to fifteen guards entered the throne room after hearing all the noise.

"Yeah, i'll go take out these guys, you have fun with your single opponents and the credit you'll get for it!" Riku yelled at his two companions sarcastically, who were too busy fighting to even take notice of the guards that entered the throne room.

RE: Pokémon: The legend of Aura (11 Chapters)

This story is so good I can't put it into words how good it is, SixaxiS. I predict that Riku might decide to join the dark side because of Aaron getting all the attention.

Your story is fine, I just don't have the time to post. Even if you don't have readers THAT POST, you can't just stop. Write because you want to write, not because you want attention. I currently have 0 repliers to my story, yet I'm still writing. People will soon realize that your story is good and catch up with it. It's only a matter of time.

Chapter 12

"Let me go...I can walk..." Dio noted upon reaching the hidden entrance they used to infiltrate the castle. After a couple of minutes rest, Dio and Palia found themselves completely reawakened and ready to go. They explained the whole story to Kira and Linc, who had carried them all the way.

"So they just needed information?" Linc asked.

"Yes...I'm sorry, we had no choice..." Dio confessed.

"We have to get back. With the information we've released, they can easily enter the hidden sanctuary of Aura Wielders." Palia noted.

"I know, but there's nothing the four of us can do to stop an entire army. And besides, i don't think they're foolish enough to attack Cameron head-on." Linc replied.

"And the two of you are in no condition to hike through Hia Valley. The best would be to wait for the rest of the team to get back here." Kira added.

Meanwhile, the three-way battle in the castle's throne room continued. Cress was constantly aiming for Luco's necklace, trying to destroy it, but Luco either dodged or blocked his every move. As their battle raged on, they eventally led themselves onto a balcony that was connected to the throne room. The heavy wind made them struggle to keep their balance, but after a while, they had gotten used to the new enviroment. Their swords kept blocking one another, both of them unable to land a direct hit. After nearly half an hour of clashing swords and a fancy display of skill, Cress finally managed to cut through the chain that held Luco's necklace together. However, Cress left himself wide open for attack when doing so, allowing Luco to thrust his sword into Cress' left flank, injuring him severely. Only after Cress fell to the ground, Luco had seen realized what he'd done, and what happened to him. The influence the Dark Shard had on Luco was gone, and now, he couldn't get over the fact that he just stabbed his own brother.

As Cress and Luco took their battle outside, Aaron was busy dodging blows from Lucario, which would definetly hurt if he got hit. More and more, Aaron got the feeling that Lucario was using aura-based attacks.

"Lucario, that's aura you're using, isn't it?" Aaron yelled while still dodging attacks.

"What's it to you?" Lucario replied while continuously attempting to hit Aaron.

Immediatly after Lucario said that, he jumped back a few feet, and placed both his arms left of his body. A large sphere of what could possibly be aura gathered between his hands. As he thrusted them forward, the large sphere was fired towards Aaron. Just when Aaron realized what was going on, he also thrusted his hands forward in an attempt to block the attack. It seemed to work, as the aura sphere was held back against Aaron's arms, but it still slowly pushed him into the wall behind him. Aaron finally gathered enough strength, and was able to bounce the sphere back towards Lucario, who took the hit. It knocked Lucario into a wall and knocked him out. Just then, Luco walked back into the hall and called off the guards. Well, the ones that were still standing.

"I...I'm sorry..." Luco confessed as he fell to his knees, a couple of feet away from Aaron.

"It's allright, we know you had no choice." Aaron replied.

"Where's Cress?" Riku asked as he came near.

"He...He's outside...He's..." Luco mumbled.

"He's alive and kicking!" Cress yelled as he walked inside, holding his hand where Luco stabbed him, with a reassuring smile on his face.

"You need to work on your aim..." Cress noted as he helped Luco get back up.

Luco then realized Lucario lying on the ground, still knocked out, and used his staff to call Lucario back. Luco then gave the staff to Aaron.

"What are you..." Aaron tried to say.

"These last 7 years, i've done nothing but cause trouble...cause pain and suffering in my father's stead, while he cowered in the Chroma Highlands. If there's anyone here who deserves a companion like Lucario, it's you." Luco said.

"Where'd you get that thing in the first place? I've never seen you with it." Cress asked.

"I was leading a battle, close to Cameron. Days after the battle had started, we captured a Cameron patrol group, near the northern entrance." Luco explained. Aaron suddenly looked up. The situation described by Luco sounded familiar to him.

"One of those guards, a man named Argus, carried this staff. I'm not proud to say the prisoners were killed shortly after. The staff ended up with me..." Luco continued.

"Argus...." Aaron said, almost unhearable.

"Argus was my father..." Aaron explained.

"I...I don't know what to say, Aaron...I..." Luco said.

"Like i said, it's not your fault. None of it." Aaron replied.

There was a silence, for only a moment. Luco suddenly remembered more of the things that were going on right now, things he'd nearly forgotten to mention.

"You should hurry. My father knew of the assasination attempt, that's why he's not here now. He's leading an assault on Cameron, he knows where the Aura Wielders are!" Luco explained, and guided them through the castle.

Kira, Dio, Palia and Linc were still near the hidden exit, waiting for the rest to return. They noticed a rather large group of people walking through the small and cramped hallway, and soon recognized them to be Aaron and the others. Luco again explained the whole situation to the now complete group.

"The six of you...you may very well be the last of the Aura Wielders. My father was bent on their destruction, it's...very likely that none of them survived." Luco said.

"But how? How could he know where to attack?" Aaron asked.

"Girat...he was on Almia's side all along. But for some reason, they've decided only now to attack us." Dio noted.

"Exactly. Since recently, Almia has had a secret weapon, and the Aura Wielders held the final key to awaken it." Luco added.

"What is Krai intending to do with Regigigas?" Palia asked, after realizing what this secret weapon was.

"I do not know...Only he does i'm afraid." Luco replied.

"We should go. If there are any survivors, they can't be left alone for too long. It's possible that more than just the Aura Wielders sanctuary was attacked..." Linc said.

The group was guided back to the outer border of Almia by Luco's personal guards. Cress had decided to stay in Almia, seeing as they now stood a chance. Pidgeot, who had been waiting just outside Hia Valley due to the harsh weather, greeted Aaron enthusiastically after being gone for so long. Almia Castle was now under the control of people who supported peace. However, the war was far from over. As it now turned out, it may have only started.
