Cool. I wonder if those spike things on his back could be wings? I always wondered why Tyranitar evolved from a pupa-esque pokemon. Maybe one of his typings will change to bug? Either way, looks really cool.

Dang, those are some disappointing offensive stats. I was actually hoping it would be more special oriented because it's going to die really quickly if we have to rely on Flare Blitz and Brave Bird for STAB, plus Stealth Rock. Maybe they introduced some decent damage physical Fire and Flying moves without recoil, though.

I think the only way it could be redeemed is if it had a Fire version of the Rock Head ability, which would allow it to fire off (pun intended) Flare Blitzes and Brave Birds without any recoil.

But even with that, I doubt it would see play above UU, especially considering we now have Mega Charizard X for a physical Fire/Flying, who seems to outclass Talonflame in every stat except speed :/

A Rock Head clone ability would be so amazing. I'm sure he'll get Flame Body or something equally dumb, though.

Oh yeah... Mega Tyranitar looks freakin' awesome... Can't wait to see a better image of it...

Anyway... I think GF didn't pay much attention to what pokémon needed middle evos and those who didn't...
For example. I think Litleo and Noibat's lines should have had a middle evo... The evolution from the base to the evolved form looks too drastic... On the other hand, Doublade has to be the most unnecessary and stupid middle evo ever. They should have just went from Honedge to Aegislash...
Also, I think Heliolisk should have had a 2nd evo...

I actually think that it has something to do with other accesible regions like Hoenn. Maybe through wifi, some sort of multiplayer perhaps?

Am I the only one who thinks that all the pokemon on the trademark list will be having mega evolutions? I mean, more and more pokemon from that list are being "confirmed", just like Tyranitar just now.

It could also mean that it'll be feature in the next game, like they did hinting the dream world in games before black and white. I hope this isn't the case i really want something juicy like a new/old region after defeating the elite four and what not

Ruby/Saphire remakes confirmed as the next games!
I hope so, Ruby is one of my favorite games, and the first video game that I put over 200 hours on, but I can no longer play it.

I think it's because we're unsure how to take it. First off, Gamefreak has been giving a lot of things mega-evolutions that honestly don't need them. Why the freak does TYRANITAR need to be more powerful??? Second off, for all we know that could just be for design, and Mega Tyranitar could not really exist. (Think the mecha-tyranitar from PokeStar Studios.) So I think they didn't want to post anything until they either found the stone or saw one in battle.

I'd like to have more new pokemons rather than mega evolution but the purpose of the mega stones to exist is to add more strategic elements to the competitive battle aspect.Since you can mega evolve just one pokemon per battle u could either choose to mega evolve tyranitar and have an ultra power house or you could use it on a pokemon like charizard who switches types when mega evolve and surprise your opponent.

In relation to the balloon mega tyranitar i agree with you it could be just for the mini game but if it's the legit design for mega tyranitar then right on

Have we got any front picture of the guy ?
I mean it would be so cool if we had third gen come back ... I mean 3rd gen with the hg/ss engine would have looked badass but I can't even imagine with the X and Y one. Imagine the cutscenes whem Groudon/Kyogre awakening or even "Rayquaza's descent" in emerald.
What I mean is with all these clues I just don't want 3rd gen remakes to become the pokemon equivalent of half life 3 with nintendo trolling us for years ... (especially half life 3 has now been comfirmed ..)
