RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread!
EDIT: Thanks to Steffenka for the original versions of Tundrore City, and Coal/Icy Caves, which became this post's Frostfuel Cave, and to Lugia123, for the original concepts for Mystery Zone and Route B17.
Route B17
Resembles: Sinnoh Route 228. Except, stretched to twice the length, and cold instead of hot, so the resemblance is kind of limited.
Nicknamed "Mystifying Pass," this long, rocky road covered in mist is the main reason why trade between Grenergy and Tundrore cities is kept to a minimum.
When you first enter Route B17 (even if you haven't defeated Trisha or gone to the Power Plant yet), the route has a relatively normal appearance. However, Kuraskamai jumps out in front of you and runs north along the route, lifting stones into the air and opening up ponds of lava as it travels. Suddenly, Purotenshi jumps in as well, chasing after it, but it briefly stops to let out a resounding cry, turning the lava a deep purple color.
After both legendary Pokémon have fled northwards, a detective by the name of Javerre nearly rams into you. Seeing the state of the once-familiar route, he becomes enraged and battles you, thinking you must have had something to do with the transformation.

After the battle, he calms down, realizing there's no way you could have affected the world in this way. He instead decides to recruit you in his ongoing investigation into two powerful criminal masterminds: Pazodenchi and Kadaggarai! After you supply that those are Pokémon, not people, and they destroyed Route B17, he applauds your thorough investigation and runs off northward after them.
Several open-air elevators are present on the route, in order to get from Grenergy City to the much higher Tundrore City. However, due to Kuraskamai's destructive behaviors, they have no power. You must supply the power using Charge, so you cannot progress further until after getting the Plasma Badge and exploring the Power Plant.
Since Purotenshi altered the properties of the lava, it is possible to Surf on it; however, you cannot fish in it, and no Pokémon are encountered in it. The cold lava occasionally defies gravity, producing a waterfall-like form; you can traverse these with Surf despite the fact that Waterfall is not an HM.
Roughly one-third of the way up the route is an old lady living in a house; as with the elevators, she has no power. If you restore her power using Charge, she gives you TM99, Rock Slide as thanks.
Mystery Shrines
After you enter the Hall of Fame, the five Mystery Shrines will float above Route B17:
Left Shrines:
The two shrines on the left allow you to revisit one-time areas. If you have a Glytch in your party, you can use the first shrine to revisit [link=http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-pokemon-shuffle-the-pokedex-2-0-region-thread?pid=2668829#pid2668829]Mystery Zone[/link] (this shrine will not appear if you traded for Robopoké). After you talk to the shadow trainer, you reappear in the house in Tundrore City where you first entered the Mystery Zone; you cannot rebattle him, but you can claim missed items and catch wild Glytch. If you have Mawcrocosm in your party, the second shrine allows you to revisit [link=http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-pokemon-shuffle-the-pokedex-2-0-region-thread?pid=2672735#pid2672735]Another World[/link]. Again, you cannot rebattle anyone, unless you missed them the first time, but you can purchase items and claim missed items from the ground. When you try to enter the Pokémon League, it fades away and you find yourself on the cliffside in Phurst Town.
Right Shrines:
The three shrines on the right affect the Abilities of Purotenshi, Kuraskamai, and Seikoshi. The first shrine toggles Purotenshi's Ability between Justified and Fairy Aura. The second toggles Kuraskamai's Ability between Maleficence and Dark Aura. The third toggles Seikoshi's Ability between Balance Order and Aura Break.

Tundrore City
Real-World Equivalent: Helsinki
Resembles: Snowbelle City
While a few of the city's younger residents are gathered around the city's southern border to witness Route B17's transformation with awe and confusion, it's nothing especially new for Tundrore City, the city of frozen illusion. Defined by its auroras and other icy tricks of light, there's always something magical and unexpected going on. Industrially, Tundrore City produces coal and electricity to the rest of Baloncé. The city was founded by the workers and their family, though lately it's become a hotspot for thrillseekers and occultists of the region.
Places of Notice:
Boutique (Winter-themed clothes)
Light Pillar
Floyd's House
Tundrore City Gym
Mystery Zone
Frostfuel Cave
Light Pillar
Located on the north side of town, the Light Pillar is an icicle jutting out of the ground, roughly four times the height of a grown man, that has never melted as long as Tundrore City has been inhabited. During the morning, the sunlight shines through it, casting blue and indigo beams to the west. A tutor, inspired by the lights, can teach Hydro Cannon to Groshark, or Triple Cross to Brutauox. During the day, it casts green and yellow lights to the south, and you can teach Frenzy Plant to Solaria or Chakra Burst to Puncharite. In the evening, it shines red and violet beams eastward, allowing you to teach Blast Burn to Fightape or Hundred Thoughts to Wizcheenie. No tutors appear during the night. You can use these tutors an unlimited number of times.
Floyd's House
When you first come to Tundrore City, this house has no people in it; the only indication that it is Floyd's residence is that one of the NPCs outside will mention that Floyd is from Tundrore.
After entering the Hall of Fame, Floyd will be back home. He asserts that, had it not been for Casey's absurd disloyalty, Shadow could have accomplished something real. He could have truly restored Baloncé's balance, making it two powerful, beautiful regions, just as it was in his youth, rather than one where the old things are allowed to rot in disuse.
He tells the player that, whatever their goals are, he's glad that he gave Purotenshi or Kuraskamai to him or her, so that the player could change the world, something Floyd failed to do by surrounding himself with the wrong people. He then gives the player one extra gift - his signature Mega Stone, the Aggresite.
Tundrore City Gym
This gym is fairly compact, consisting of a U-shaped path around an icy rock seemingly floating in darkness. The gym is dimly lit, with everything off the edge of the snow being completely black. Despite the cold temperature, you can move about freely; there are no slippery surfaces.
On the far left and far right are a pair of coal furnaces attached to hexagonal prisms. If you defeat the coal miner guarding each, they will turn on the furnace. The prism concentrates the light from the furnace into a beam. You can rotate the prism to change the angle and color of the beam. By rotating them to show a blue beam and an orange beam that both meet in front of Frits's platform, they merge into a bright white light, lighting up the path to the middle.

Mystery Zone
Resembles: Glitch City (RB)
In one of the houses in Tundrore City, upon entering the door, a man gets up from his table and warns you that there are forces upstairs that are not to be messed with. The layout of the house is identical to the protagonist's house from Red and Blue. If you go upstairs, there is a young boy in the bedroom. Much like the original bedroom, one of the items is a Nintendo 64. The boy tells you that there's an amazing secret, if you want to try tilting the cartridge.
If you do so, and tilt the N64's cartridge, the game's graphics and music momentarily freeze, then reset to a fake title screen. When you click through, instead of going to the load game screen as normal, you appear in the Mystery Zone, which resembles Glitch City in its original Game Boy glory. The music is the same as in Tundrore City, but in a high-pitched, squealy key.
Glytch is the only wild Pokémon, but the chances of encountering it are extremely low. It holds an item, the GS BALL, which does nothing, and has its hidden ability, Trace. Instead of having item sprites, the Robopokite appears to be Professor Oak, and the Glitched Stone looks like a Youngster; each will give you the option to answer a Yes or No question, even though they don't say anything, the answer is meaningless, and they disappear after you pick them up.
Finally, there is a single trainer at the far end of the zone, appearing as a completely black silhouette or your rival. Once you defeat him/her, you leave the Mystery Zone; you can only return through the portal on Route B17. If you go in that way, you can obtain the items, if you missed them, but talking to the trainer will only cause you to leave again, rather than letting you fight him/her again.

If you decide to trade, you cannot obtain the Glitched Stone until the Battle Nexus.

Frostfuel Cave
Resembles: Iron Island
There is a crowd gathered around the cave's entrance; Javerre, recognizing you, turns around and relates what happened; Kuraskamai and Purotenshi briefly met on top of the cave before storming off. Because of their climactic confrontation, several parts of the cave have sunken in.
Once inside, you learn why the two legendaries were drawn to this cave; as the cave merges two opposites, the freezing cold with natural fires produced by the fossil fuels within, the ancient Baloncians dedicated this cave to the study of opposites. In order to get through the cave, you have to use Charge to power the mining machinery within, to remove blockades caused by the legendary scuffle.
On floor B2, you find the payoff: a cave painting on the ground of a circle featuring Purotenshi at the top and Kuraskamai at the bottom, as well as two Pokémon you don't recognize on the left and right. Javerre, Frits, and Rival all enter the room. Frits describes the slab as the illustration of pure balance, and says the other two Pokémon as Fightark, on the left, and Purifighter on the right. He instructs you to stand next to Purotenshi; Rival stands next to Kuraskamai, Javerre next to Purifighter, and he stands next to Fightark. The slab reveals one additional Pokémon, in the middle, and an HM.
Frits admits that, while he doesn't know the name of the final Pokémon depicted (Seikoshi), he does know that, with the HM for Rock Climb, you now have the power to follow Purotenshi and Kuraskamai to their home deep in the mountains. Javerre notes they were last seen heading south, and Rival theorizes they must have been going to the Desert Temple.

More plot stuff, this time revealing what Purotenshi and Kuraskamai get up to after being released during Doubridge Town. This update does something kind of weird; since Icy Cave and Coal Cave were some of the first areas to be designed, I merged the two designs to form Frostfuel Cave, an area that, fusing a pair of opposites, has special significance for Purotenshi and Kuraskamai. Tundrore City also gets a gym puzzle, and Mystery Zone finally has a home.
One thing that's addressed in this update: in order for this game to work, it does have to commit to the idea that it occurs in an alternate universe. If characters and regions from previous Pokémon games exist within the same universe as this game, that means there's a region out there people can just go to which contains perfect twins of themselves with different names and lifestyles, and even Pokémon that look exactly the same, but are somehow completely different...the implications of it are somewhat disturbing.
Now, that being said, some characters and locations can be substantially closer to their prime counterparts than others - a character can exist who looks, acts, and has much of the same history as Looker, but since he's not Looker, we can't call him Looker. So, instead I've called him Javerre, combining the similar character [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javert]Inspector Javert[/link] with verre, French for glass, implying a looking glass. For Fennel, I think she should be Anise, because the two flavours are often confused for one another.
Here's a handy list of possible region substitutions - so, if someone was supposed to be from Kanto, they would instead be from Nokta.
Kanto - Nokta
Johto - Ojoth
Hoenn - Ennoh
Sinnoh - Hinson
Unova - Uvoan
Kalos - Alkos
EDIT: Thanks to Steffenka for the original versions of Tundrore City, and Coal/Icy Caves, which became this post's Frostfuel Cave, and to Lugia123, for the original concepts for Mystery Zone and Route B17.
Route B17

Left Shrines:
The two shrines on the left allow you to revisit one-time areas.
