Did anyone think HGSS was even more easy than the originals?

I remember kicking and screaming at Whitney's miltank. Now that I had Heracross, I one-shotted the poor thing. The rival used to give me trouble on fights 2 & 4. But he kept doing really stupid moves that cost him both fights. Red was the most difficult boss I have ever raged at. But having a level 67 Lanturn taking down 5 out of 6 of his pokemon with ease...idk. I was really hoping he would give me a run for my money to prove that Barry, who was lauded as the strongest trainer in platinum because he had high leveled pokes, was infact just poor AI as he was waaay to easy to beat as well. But...i'm speechless and I feel no rewarding experiencing from dispatching Red so easily. The only real challenges in this game were Morty and Lance. Other than that.....what do you think? Did they decide that platinum was hard or something and made these remakes 20x easier than before?

I found it pretty easy, I beat it in a shorter amount of time than most of my other games, even though beating Lance was pure LUCK, as using focus blast with my Typhlosion just so happened to be a critical hit on Dragonite and just so happened to knock out Dragonite when I only had 1 HP and 1 PP left :3

So, in a nutshell, I kinda have to agree with you for the most part.
I haven't really played Gold & Silver in a LONG time, so I can't really recall.

Edit: WOOT. 1,000th post xD

It was easy for me because I based it all off memory. But no, it was just as easy as it was playing G/S/C. But, when I first played it, I wasn't the best.

But, when I faced Whitney in HG/SS, I knew beforehand her Pokemon and her battle strategy, I made sure I caught a bunch of female Pokemon and use the Machop from the guy in the Dept. Store (also a female) and make Whitney's most dangerous move, Attract null.

I was able to beat my Rival's Croconaw with a Hoppip and Bullet Seed because he failed to land a single attack on me. I think he just used Tail Whip and Growl. The other rival battles were a piece of cake.

The hardest people for me to beat were Clair and Red. Clair because her dragons were faster than my Kingdra. I did beat her on my second try. Red was hard because of the high levels and the type coverage he had with his team. But, I was able to beat him (luckily) by using Rain Dance and Weather Ball with my Castform on his Charizard.

I hated whitneys milktank bad and came easier afrter that except lance witch was hard but i beat him 2 times but i have yet to encounter red and juding by his levels im going to train for some while to get a nice strong ground for pikachu and charizard. But you made sound easy.

It really was tho. Lanturn proved to be a force to be reckoned with if even Venasaur stood no chance against him (course I had Ice Beam so...). It was that blasted Snorlax that gave me trouble.

I'm currently playing SS and it does seem easier but I think it's because I played through S/G/C already. I remember breezing through Crystal when I first played it.

Try to keep your pokemon levels a bit lower in game. Usually I use the EXP SHARE for this otherwise I end up way ahead of where I should be. And I put the EXP share on something I might want to use later, or that I just need to evolve for the pokedex.

The game can also be alot more fun if you dont use the super-effective move every time. For example I had my dodrio out at Erika's gym and instead of using fly, I tried beating it with normal type moves, it was actually more fun.

This game was WAY easier than platinum, for sure. The only major problems I had was bugsy's scyther and wallace's slowbro. Scyther was (grumble) a real (grumble) pain because he would (grumble) spam u-turn so my poor pidgey couldn't gust it (grumble), and my poor croconaw (grumble) couldn't water gun it. The... THING was too darn fast and powerful. The Slowbro just got away from me with curses and calm minds. Other than that this game was annoyingly easy. Even lance.

Here's my battle with Lance:
Charizard: Feraligatr used Waterfall OHKO
Aerodactyl: Feraligatr used Waterfall 2HKO
Dragonites (all 3): Feraligatr used Ice Fang OHKO
Then my victreebel, steelix, and pidgeot clean up gyarados.

This game was easy. The only reason I can't beat Red (grumble) is because my pokes are underleveled (grumble).

Wallace isn't in this game :p Tis Will.

As for red, use a Lanturn with Rain Dance and Ice beam, and prepare to lol

I'm with Sweet Dawn Berlitz - my experience with the games has lead me to believe the remakes were easier because I knew what was coming (for the most part) because I played the original Silver / Gold / Crystal games. I also wasn't as good back then as I am now (though I admit it's not hard to be good in-game). xP

I do feel the game tries to make itself harder because of the lack of high level areas to train in, which is not how a game should be difficult. Like Chillarmy, I had trouble with Red only because I didn't want to spend an eternity trying to level up against things that didn't even come close to the levels of his Pokémon. (And there's a gap between the levels of the Elite Four's Pokémon and the highest level wild ones, as well, so it's even hard to train against them for a while.)

I found it too easy and beating the elite four was easier than I thought. I defeated red with pokemon that were all under level 70. I rather would have preferred if it was just Jhoto and as a fully fleshed region and hard instead of the 'half region' it is.

I'm finding HeartGold incredibly easier than when I played Gold and Crystal way back -- not because of the game itself, but rather because of the infrastructure that exists inside the DS games that never existed in the past. Nowadays, you have so many opportunities and resources to get incredibly high-powered Pokémon... whenever you feel like it, really, between the GTS, trading with DPPt, access to Pokémon from the GBA games, and really the advent of of online play in its entirety. Ten or eleven years ago, I could never go on to forums like these and just ask for a level 100 Pokémon on the fly -- the only source of Pokémon outside the game itself was RBY, and if you didn't have that, you had no choice but to grind on with what you had. I think now because of eveything we have the notion of training you own Pokémon is becoming more and more obsolete, unfortunately. I sent my Cyndaquil over to Pearl Version when I started HeartGold to EV train it, and even now with a level 35 Quilava, I had to wait to beat some of the Gym Leaders to I could hear the music finish :D. But level 35's not gonna get me to Lance, so it's going to get tough as nails soon enough (I hope :)).

Yeah, it is easier.. Its because, I think, they give you more pokes to fight. I didn't train my team at all (other than trainer battles, gym battles, etc.), but they were all in the 70's and 80's when I fought red. Red, I thought, was easier than he was in silver but harder to beat because HE DIDN'T USE FULL RESTORES EVERY 5 SECONDS!!!! But yeah, its easier in HGSS than in GSC.

I was completely underleveled when playing SoulSilver, it was nothing like Gold where my Typhlosion was overleveled by like, 10 levels. But that was probably because back in that day I only focused on training one Pokémon.

Is this a noob error or something? I still do this, and have more fun.

On topic, the remakes were a tad bit easier for me, but it was because I decided to go with training only Typhlosion this time, rather than training only Fearow, as I did in the originals. Fearow made it a lot harder against Jasmine, with her Magnemite, and to a lesser extent, Lt. Surge.

I do the same thing...sorta. These days I only ever play the games with no more than three Pokemon on my team. I've found all the newer games a lot easier that way, not just HeartGold and SoulSilver.

But as far as those two go, yeah, they're definitely a lot easier. And I don't think that's necessarily due to memory. Just to give some examples, I was able to beat Whitney on my first try with nothing but a Chikorita and Zubat on my team. And Morty was a joke this time around--I was able to beat him with just a Miltank thanks to Zen Headbutt and Scrappy.

Im still playing heartgold but so far its pretty easy, although i remember gold was a bit easier though. i have totodile and i transferred a starly from my platinum(now a staravia) because a friend told me the pidgey line sucked in this game since gust was made special.

Pshht, that Scyther was e-z to defeat (I didn't even use Quilava; Ledian was EPIC in that battle, mostly cause I kept using U-Turn).
And Whitney's Miltank.... I FAILED. Sure, I beat it on my second try, but I got lucky with Quilava.
And I hated Red using Full Restores over 900 times, but I eventually beat him (stupid Snorlax).
