You can train a reflex by associating it with something good or bad (If you fed a dog and every time while you were feeding it you rang a bell, after a while, it will start drooling just because you ring a bell)
Most people know the 4 tastes that are detected on our taste buds (salty, sour, bitter and sweet) but there's a 5th taste called Umami that is only recently being known as the 5th taste.

...Umami? What the heck would that taste like...

Anyway, I think it is more like 4 times around the Earth, but whatever.

Facts:

A Brazillian Amazonian ant, the "bullet" ant, delivers a sting that compares in pain to being shot (hence its name). Strangely enough, its sting isn't all that potent. It can also bite you if it doesn't feel like stinging for some reason. Which may sound great at first, but not when you hear this: their bite is so powerful that if they cannot break what they bite, they are are flung back from the force of their own bite.

Umami is actually caused by monosodium glutamate (MSG; "bad cholesterol"). It is described as meaty, brothy, or savory. It was discovered by Japanese scientists in 2009.

I read on ChaCha that we have 100,000 miles of veins, which would be long enough to wrap about 4 times around the Earth. Of course, that was stated to be in a fully matured adult (so do we grow 40,000 miles of veins as we mature? Lol). I have no idea if the answerer had any medical education, however.

And so umami is basically how fat and gristle tastes?
