Rayquaza EX

This card could also be run in a deck with rayquaza/deoxys legend, as they take the same types of energy and the legend can help you greatly in a mirror mnatch

First of, RDL will probably be rotated by the time Rayquaza Legend comes out. Second, how does RDL help in the mirror match at all? It can't OHKO Rayquaza EX, Rayquaza EX can OHKO RDL, and RDL can't be charged up in one turn in Eel decks.

And the fact that RDL is just clunky and you need to get both of the pieces to do anything at all...

Do any non-EX Dragon types actually OHKO Rayquaza that aren't Stage 2? Stage 2s don't work at all against Rayquaza EX either unless the deck is focused on them, and even then...

Hmmm...

I probably should've thought of that. I guess Mirror is just who goes first and who gets more consistent draws.

Normal Rayquaza. 90 Damage, x2, 180, unless Ray EX has Eviolite or Large Cloak attached, It willl OHKO

the reason i want to add RDL is that it makes the deck auto-win against things with mewtwo EX in them, being able to OHKO one for 3 prizes pretty easily.

But you don't run Fire Energy Accel. so it wouldn't work.

Rayquaza is the new better version of magnezone..... I love mageels so I'll definitely try this out! The only thing is if it turns out I'm just going to play mirrors all day I might try a hate deck instead.... The only other thing is rayquaza like mewtwo is weak to himself and constantly needs 2 eels to work.....

It will be played, there's 0 doubt about it. It has increasing damage output, and the only possibly played Pokemon that can hit it for weakness (other than itself) is Garchomp, which is a Stage 2. I'm extremely excited for this card, and expect it to be even more expensive than Mewtwo was.

I don't see how Rayquaza EX will be as splashable as Mewtwo EX is right now, the reason why Mewtwo is splashable in every deck is because of it's first attack for {C}{C} doing 20 damage for each energy attached to both Active Pokemon, while Rayquaza requires you to either run it in Eels or with Emboar (Inferno Fandango) which might make a comeback however it's much more consistent with Eels being Stage 1's and it's much faster.

I could see Rayquaza turning ZekEels into EelQuaza, but then again Zekrom still has some place in the format still and with the popularity of Tornadus in the format is key for taking it down for weakness so it's going to be a tough sell though. I mean how often are you going to have Type Advantage with Rayquaza EX? Hardly infact, it relies more on attrition than taking advantage of weakness like other decks do.

I don't know If it's fair for me to say that Rayquaza EX might end up being as much of a Glass Cannon as Raikou EX. Sure even If they Catcher one of your Eels to stop a Double Dynamotor then Rayquaza can still use it's 1st attack to attach energies for it's 2nd attack but it's still a big gamble cause you may need to run a higher energy count than most decks run being 14 as the magic number to get a more consistent flow with Rayquaza.

What decks take advantage of Weakness? None, except Terrakion. Thundurus just happens to OHKO Tornadus - CMT doesn't hit for Weakness and Eelektrik decks were around before CMT.

I like the idea of RaiQuaza Eels though. Definitely something I'm going to try.

Don't forget about the regular rayquaza. That OHKOs Rayquaza EX.

This thread is so old? I can't believe I missed it -.- I've been looking forward to it, since the day I saw it :D
Btw, I have a question; if you play ZekEels, you can't use anything as {R} substitude if you don't want to discard it right?

Blend Energy, unless that one counts as Lightning and Fire.

Or just use some Fire, which is why I'd probably rather use Rayquaza-Raikou Eels.

Why would you? Just use fire energy because it is revoverable and can be discarded to KO low HP pokemon.
