Writing Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Congratulations, The Fallen One!)

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (5 slots remaining)

I suppose I will join this. As long as they are appropriate, and fit the word length, they can be any type of story, right?
2.) To compete, participants are to write a 500 to 1,000 word passage to be used as the beginning of a story that will be continued in the next round. Authors are free to write about any subject they wish, so long as it doesn’t violate the Writer’s Corner Rules & Guidelines or PokéBeach General Rules in terms of general content (i.e. PG-13 rated content is the limit, but it’s preferred you work on the PG or G levels if possible).
More or less, you have no restrictions in writing.

@SB: Yep, so long as you're not submitting adult-oriented work or extremely graphic stories, almost anything goes.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (3 slots remaining, but may open a few more if interest continues)

Welcome aboard, UU! =3

Anyways, I decided to open a poll to determine whether or not I should open two or three more slots since this seems to have become popular all of a sudden. I'm leaning against it myself since, unlike haiku contests, twelve story passages could be a lot for people to read through and more may be too much. In any case, I'll let everyone else get their votes in for a day or so and then decide.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (3 slots remaining, but may open a few more if interest continues)

I'll enter. I have no idea what I'm gonna write about.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (2 slots remaining, but may open a few more if interest continues)

I'll enter too, I guess. :)

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (2 slots remaining, but may open a few more if interest continues)

Oh god Lenny is in this. Let the lulz ensue.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (2 slots remaining, but may open a few more if interest continues)

At least we're getting our top writers involved. That just shows how long overdue these types of contests are. In any case, there's still one slot open as of yet. I may open a few more, if people want, but I don't want to overdo the amount of entries we get.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (1 slot left, once it's filled, sign-ups are done!)

Time to break out the good ol' Writers Block and/or procrastination, because I'm sure at least once I'll do it. I haven't done anything about writing in a while and I really wanna keep my skill for it up.

And with that, sign-ups are closed then. Just remember that they won't reopen, even if people drop out.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (1 slot left, once it's filled, sign-ups are done!)

Any time you wish to submit them is fine. An actual deadline won't be set until I've gotten three entries from people other than myself.

Edit: The Power of Three requested to be added, so I allowed it. Nobody else will be, however.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Sign-ups finished. Start Writing!)

This is just a minor update, but two submissions have been turned in. I may hold off setting a deadline though until the fourth submission has been made to avoid pressuring people too much. However, that's just an idea and I did say that the deadline may be extended beyond a week or so depending on the timing of things.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Sign-ups finished. Start Writing!)

I'd like to enter. Am I too late? And do I need to submit my 500 word thingy within next 48 hrs?

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Sign-ups finished. Start Writing!)

Sorry, Mew Jadester, but signups for this round are long since over. Also, the writing phase goes on until when I set a deadline, which comes only after I get at least three submissions (and to this point I've only gotten two).

You can enter the next round when it begins. Would you like me to PM you when it does?

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Sign-ups finished. Start Writing!)

Alright, I've received the third entry and am now going to set the due date for the rest at November 1, 2011. This should give people adequate time to get them in.

Also, another note I'd like to make is that I'll be making two changes to the voting procedure to follow my posting of these submissions for public reading. Votes will have to be submitted to me via PM essentially as a ballot stating the one submission you think is best to become the set-up piece for the following round. Voting will be open to any members of PokeBeach in general who want to participate in it, but competitors will be expected to anyways; however you cannot vote for your own.

I'll edit the OP Monday with that update and the duedate. If anyone feels they need a little more time than that or that I should restrict voting to just contestants (and maybe WC frequenters who want to vote), let me know.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Deadline: Nov. 1! Better updates Monday!)

I'm going to have to drop out. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Gotta catch up on a week of missed classes.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Deadline: Nov. 1! Better updates Monday!)

That's fine, SB. This is also why I wanted at least three entries beofre setting a real deadline because people normally do drop out of these bigger contests about the time that the deadline approaches.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Deadline: Nov. 1! Six entries in as of 10/28!)

Just a reminder: The deadline is Tuesday at 11:59PM Central Time. I've currently received six entries including my own. If anyone who hasn't submitted his or hers as of yet wishes to drop out, that's fine. Otherwise, I'll be expecting them in before 12:00AM Wednesday, but may still take slightly late entries if they're in before I log-on to PB that day since I won't be on in the middle of the night just to check PMs; however, that's not a gaurentee...

Edit: Hatman PM'd me that he's dropping out. Just remember, everyone, that it's just for the round you're withdrawing, not the full contest. Sign-ups begin again with each new round, not only in the very beginning. The point was to try and get whomever wants to enter a chance to participate.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Deadline: Nov. 1! Six entries in as of 10/28!)

Welp, today's the due date, and I haven't submitted anything yet.

Likewise, commentaries made by contestants on any entries will not be permitted during the voting period to avoid accidental revealing or hinting of whom wrote what.
Are you implying that commentary after the voting period is fair game? =3
