Saturday, 6/2, Redshark Feedback

The default extract location should be under "C:\Program Files" not to the root of "C:"

There is a lot of funky security stuff that goes on with the root and Microsoft occasionally monkies around with it in their security patches.  Depending on how the PC is set up it's very possible that a person would be able to use Redshark before a MS patch but not after one if it's right off the root.  These problems almost never occur in Program Files though.

Other than this it looks interesting.  I only played with it for a few minutes. Some things just didn't feel as intuitive as I would like but I really liked a lot of the features such as energy attachment.  Look and feel was fine for me.  Wasn't bothered by the yellow background.  I'll post a more detailed report later.

Thanks to all involved in making this!  I'm sure that it was a lot of work.

- I attach a [F] Energy card to Hitmonlee. When double-clicking on the Energy, Tyrogue card text appears instead of the Energy's. (And Tyrogue wasn't in play)
Thanks for finding this bug, it will be fixed.

- When viewing a card from deck/discard pile/etc., I can't close the card info window until the deck window is closed. I have to right click/close from the Icon Tray or press Alt+F4. It doesn't matter so much you say, but try to open 2, 3, 4 card info windows.
- When viewing a card from deck/discard pile/etc., the play window is not clickable. So I can't tell my opponent anything, I can't see what cards in my hand do, etc.
This is a challenging issue, but I can say that the design reason for the Card List Window (CLW) being modal is to prevent the user from accidentally/intentionally leaving it open during play. The simplest response to the issues stated above is to close the CLW (without shuffling) to interact as needed with the playmat(usually just view something) and then re-open to the CLW to perform your card movements. It seems strange, but I don't think it's a problem as long as you don't perform any card movements inbetween CLW sessions.

This doesn't mean that it can't change, but I wanted to give some history on why it is like it is right now.

Thanks for the quality feedback.

Is there any possible way you can make a mac version? I know that would make A LOT of people very very happy. And when I play against someone I cant see anything on their side and I can't see anything they're sending me in the chat window. o_O It's strange...and can the bg be something other than bright yellow? =P

-When I view my deck and take a look on one card it seemed looked at the bottom and I can't even see what information I needed. I can't even close it normally.

Alright. My initial impressions:

I really like the setup here. Areas are clearly defined. Deck Builder is beautiful, that's for sure. A pretty decent step up from Apprentice, and I absolutely love the double solitaire play mode.

Tips:
-LOVE the ability to click the attack you are using. Perhaps put the energy costs with it though.
-Confirmation screens for attaching/evolving are really nice ways to keep things organized.
-I noticed that when looking at card info while searching your deck you can't close the card info window until you close the deck view window.
-Shortcut keys for draw, flip, shuffle, etc. would be great (I believe WPM already stated those were in the works.)
-Allow for background changes, as that yellow background tends to hurt the eyes after a bit.

That's about all I found after fiddling around with it for about 15 minutes. Overall though, very well done.

I never played Apprentice but I tried the Redshark and I think its very good to test new decks.

When I built my deck I came across the Magneton (DS:48) an the attack Speed Ball needs only 2 energys but as I know it needs 3 energys.

personally the background doesnt affect me too much.

1 issue, I play metanite, and when i look at the top 4 cards, there should be an option to put them on the bottom of the deck in 1 action.

other than that, ive had no problems.

Also, if theres a way to get the coding for cards, id be willing to code in for the DP sets!

Thanks

I like the program. The graphics are a little short, but you said you are working on that. Just fix the color scheme/taskbar problem and I think you should be set. Good job!!

Also, like said above, a mac version would be nice. Not everyone has a Windows emulator on their mac.

Wow, this is a great program.  I played it the moment I installed it and it was fun. I haven't found any problems not reported yet. I think the same way as the others, the graphics needs improvement. I have some suggestion on the graphics:

-On the screenshot, I saw that the card-back is the same as the real card but when I saw the real program, I found red shark. It's not I don't like the shark but I think it will be better if you could allow players to choose the sleeves or card-back like the world championships, the original card-back, the red shark and others. (I'm not sure if this suggestion is posted already).

-The card graphics is not that good, and I know that you'll be editing it but we don't know what it will look like. I think that it would also be better if you could use the real card template for your cards. It will be interesting to see that you're playing miniature cards.

-The yellow background makes many of our eyes sore. Why not try to use the World Championships Playmat as a background. It looks cool to me.

That's all I have for now. Thank you if your considering my request and suggestions and if not, I thank you still for creating this program. (I signed up here because I read about your (WPM) surprise. I think this site is fun). And also thank you for making this site, It just needs to be a little up-to-date about the lists.

Back to the topic, overall I think this program is wonderful for all Pokemon TCG players.

OH! BTW, I could give you some graphics if you would like me to.

Is it possible to draw cards from the bottom of your deck (Prof. Cozmo's Discovery) or to place cards under your deck (Metagross d)?

Rt-Clk on the Draw Card graphic (next to deck) for a popup menu that includes drawing from the deck bottom.

Also, from the Player menu, there's a Trainers sub-menu, that has a few trainer actions pre-programmed - Prof Cozmo is one of them.

You can only place a card on the bottom of your deck by a rt-click on a card that's in your hand, the temp-stack, or on the playmat, but you can't do it directly from the Card List Window (CLW).

Great program. The only thing that I can see that is wrong with it is that it says that Raichu (delta species) from Holon Phantoms has 0 maximum hp.
