RE: Scizor (Prime) from Undaunted (#84) [8/24]
1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad or has potential? Is it worth playing?
Scizor certainly can be playable on its own. Its Poke-body, Red Armor, prevents all damage done to it by Pokemon with special energies on them. This can be an annoying body for decks that rely on special energies, like Sablelock or Luxchomp, especially since cards like DCE and special darks are pretty popular right now. Its attack can also do 30 plus 20 for each {M} energy on it. With two metals, you can be hitting for 70, and if you can give it an Expert Belt, you could be hitting for 90 for two, or even 110 if you get three. Moreover, since it can abuse special metals, and it has some nice HP, it can be a good defensive Pokemon. Based off what I see, this card is certainly a good card on its own, has potential, and can be worth playing.
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
As of now, we don't see a lot of Scizor in today's format. However, pretty soon, I can imagine some Scizor Prime decks will emerge. Most likely, it will probably be straight Scizor, and these decks will try to take full of advantage of the card as much as it can (both the body and the attack).
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
To me, Scizor is more like a card that really doesn't need much of a combo, as it seems to be perfectly fine when running it straight. Thus, it's probably going to be comboed with support Pokemon most of the time if that's the case. Sableye can help it give a jump start with Impersonate, Uxie could be for drawing so that Scizor Prime becomes a bit more consistant, and the recent Skarmory could work to get special metals onto the Scizor.
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you would give it that rating.
I would give Scizor a 4/5. Scizor is certainly a nice tank. It can use special metals to reduce damage onto it, and the attack can be hitting for some good damage. Its body is certainly annoying now that today's format seems to be relying a lot on special energies like DCE. Unfortunately, one problem for Scizor is Dialga G. Dialga seems to give it competition because it happens to be a better attacker, and Dialga locks the body. Since Dialga G will likely be used a lot in MD-on, Scizor might not be a tier 1 deck. Still, Scizor can be one nice card to use thus far, and it may likely see some play.
5. How's the artwork?
Now I have to say, that's one awesome artwork for a Scizor. Scizor literally looks like it has just slashed the card with its pinchers, and that certainly shows how strong it can be. Its eyes also look pretty daring too, almost as if it is daring you to challenge it into a tough battle.
