Been planning on making this. This is pretty much my view of each mainstream anime going on right now. Also delving into manga as well. Let's start with Naruto Shippuden.

Naruto:
Alright, it didn't really look like a bad series at the start. The Chunin exams entire arc was pretty well written overall with some great fights. However, after this, stuff starts going pretty crappy. For one, EVERYBODY looks like they're about to die in the Sasuke Retrieval arc. Neji even looks completely like he dies. Do any of them? No. Sasuke runs away, and then there proceeds to be an INCREDIBLY long filler arc in the anime.
Then Shippuden comes. The first arc is just pretty much a hidden filler. Was there any importance in Naruto chasing after Gaara to the overall plot later? Yeah, they killed Sasori and all, but that was it. And Gaara losing the Shukaku, anything else was just to fill space really.

Then Sasuke Retrieval 2. You get to meet all the other aged characters, and Sai. A homo dressing, constant cursing, bad mouthed, emotionless plot no no. WE FOUND SASUKE AWESOME! Well, it just so happens he turns you away. Too bad. This was sort of good because you got to see Sasuke again.
Then (I really cannot remember for the life of me if there was an arc between these two) Hidan and Kakuzu. For one, Hidan is a very foul mouthed, sadistic, crazy laughing(bonus points), religious freak. Kakuzu is an emotionless money-obsessed monster. Turned out O.K. Asuma died, which wasn't completely expected, and it was some pretty sad stuff, not really bad though. But Hidan gets a pretty cheap death, and Naruto's new technique is like a mini nuke but he breaks his hand every time he uses it. Hooraw,
skipping ahead, Itachi finally is beaten by Sasuke! But no. Madara messes EVERYTHING up and tells Sasuke what happened really, and Sasuke goes back to the unlikable angsty emo he is. Just more insane. I'll delve further later, gonna move on. Animation ain't too bad later on in the series, early on it's pretty 5/10ish.

Bleach:
You know, bleach didn't look too bad at the beginning. The only real turn offs were that Ichigo had a pretty overused personality. Ichigo vs. Grimmjow was pretty tight and all too. But then, we hit soul society arc. Everything becomes broken. Everything turns predictable. Chapters are almost fillers. Then, skipping ahead way far to recent chapters(I really am NOT going to go into the Arrancar arc without trash-talking Kubo), we spend 3 chapters of people standing around. Then there's Aizen just standing around saying "Yeah, I'm pretty friggin hax guys. But Yamamato can beat me." While at the same time Yamamato is doing almost nothing. Then finally WonderWeiss pops up and stuff starts happening. Again, I'll delve further later.
Animation gets a 6/10. Not good, not bad.

One Piece:

The series starts out kinda bland. Luffy just going around fighting people, recruiting a pirate hunter. Also, as a note, THE 4KIDS DUB CHANGES SO MUCH STUFF, I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO RAGE RIGHT NOW. Anyways, it sort of starts bland. Then we get to the Skypiea arc. You get a pretty cool/bad villain with a spear, who can shoot some pretty lightning and rules. His name being Enel, he's referred to as "God Enel." He can't even be hit, seeing as to there's not enough water on Skypiea to even stop his ability to let attacks pass through him, him being MADE of lightning. Then turns out Rubber Boy Luffy's ability stops lightning from doing crapp from him, and he ends up using a gigantic bell to launch him the moon. There's a lot less seriousness in the fights in One Piece, like Luffy's attack Gomu Gomu no Brain Dead.
Skipping ahead a tiny tiny bit, we get to the Enies Lobby arc. This is where stuff completely picks up and makes the plot great. For one, all of the strawhat crew are fighting some crazy villains in suits who in which most can turn into animals. To boot, Luffy gains the ability to use Gear Second, which makes his attacks have the momentum of sound, and allows him to move so quick his opponent who could once move faster than he could see, not even able to react to his attacks. And gear third, which is expanding his bones. Then after a bunch of fights, the final of the CP9 group is defeated by Jet Gatling. Robin is saved, hooray.
At a note, people were complaining how nobody dies in One Piece. I'll disprove this in a moment.
Now, skipping a bit, we reach Moria and Oz. You get to see, for the first time, the strawhats for the first time fighting completely together as a team. It's pretty tight sstuff, and the animation seemed to significantly improve.. shortly.
Skipping way further to a recent arc, we have Luffy losing his entire crew across the world, and trying to save his brother Ace from his execution. He goes through 5 levels of brimming fire, puts his body through 2 sets of hormones in which will put his body in a state of the worst possible in 10 years, gets shot by a light beam, fights through an army of marines, AND to boot has to deal with the strongest swordsmen in the world who can slice mountains of ice in half without having his sword be within 400 yards of it. He also suffered sever poison damage. He finally gets to the execution stand, saves Ace.. only for Ace to be hit straight through the stomach with a lava fist, so hot it burns his body made of fire. Luffy falls unconscious after all the effort. Whitebeard then after being stabbed in the stomach, decides, "FFF- you, you killed Ace, I'm ripping Marineford all to hell." Then Blackbeard comes in, is like hey whitebeard remember me? And Whitebeard is talkin all black to him, beats the crap out of Blackbeard, then after rocking an entire island and causing giant waves, splitting the ground in half, and punching the air so hard it shatters like glass, he dies after defeating Blackbeard's massive crew and a bunch of marines.
Animation is kinda poorly done, it's not terrific but it's not OH MY GOD WHAT bad. Movies are much better animated. Plot is pretty awesome, really good fights.
Incomplete.

If I recall I remember seeing a thread like this awhile back but it was mainly about Naruto not the whole Shonen Trinity in general, though I guess you could say it's not a Trinity anymore thanks to Fairy Tail which illustrations look strikingly similiar to Eiichiro Oda's of One Piece.

As regards of Naruto, I've already complained enough about it already to even bother complaining. Though I must say that the most recent chapter where Naruto is fighting against his evil self at KillerBee's village seems to justify how he really feels about Sasuke in terms of his evil self's point of view.

Bleach, the Sword Fiend fillers are over and done with (Thank God) and the Anime is back on track. The manga has gotten better though, that last chapter I read where Kisuke Urahara completely owned Aizen was amazing but I don't think it's the last of him hence the cliffhanger at the end.

One Piece, what a great series. It's everything that a Shonen should have been and If you watch the Anime for it I strongly consider the Fansub over the Dub for it. The Manga on the other hand is even better, like an emotional rollercoaster ride that doesn't stop. You can't help but wonder when the Straw Hat Crew will get back together and I have a feeling that by the time they do they'll have found One Piece.

Anyone read Hajime No Ippo? Such an amazing manga. I think the one manga that I find is hard to find scanlations for online is Pokemon. It's geared towards the older audience of the franchise and it's deep.

I found my Naruto chart for just this occasion!

narutochart.png

Bleach is so okay it's average. So no, I don't read it anymore.

One Piece is a hell of a lot of fun. Only complaint: Skypeia.

Every good manga fan should read Pluto, Shaman King, and at least two Osamu Tezuka series. One of them SHOULD be Phoenix but it's fine if you can't find it.

I still enjoy Naruto a lot. So what if it isn't getting better? It's a very action-packed show to watch. But the part about Gaara and the chase after him, in truth in the anime most of that was filler. In the original Naruto manga, the entire goose chase never really happened and Kakashi's new Sharingan happened more quickly. That's one complaint I have with the anime, adding unnecessary filters. For the parts about Hidan/Kakuzu/Sai, you need to have someone who's rather "not normal".

In Bleach, I just have to say one thing. The show would be 10 times better if it had less fillers. And above all, random fillers. The Bount filler was terrible, but at least they placed it in a spot where it should be. For the other fillers, they put it in the middle of an important arc, saying "Oh let's take a break and go to something totally unrelated to what's going on!" -_-

Naruto: Meh, it has points I enjoy but then points I find to be stupid and wasting my time. I follow it only because I want to see if the ending I predicted comes true.

Bleach: Rip off of Yu Yu Hakusho (for the most point), the Aizen stuff makes me aggravated because you can spend a whole chapter of fighting just to find out later that it was only an illusion. Series as a whole isn't terrible and I put it on the same level of Naruto.

Case Closed/Detective Conan (Great manga/anime, it's about a detective chasing a criminal organization): After 700 chapters I feel as if they could start to tie stuff together (not end it) as far as the criminals go rather than the filler cases like they're doing.

Hajime No Ippo (Boxing): Fights are a tad bit too long, and delve on one point for too long or at least in the manga. The Anime however is flawless, the art is seriously amazing.

Yu Yu Haku Sho (Like Bleach but no extreme filler syndrome): Probably my favorite anime of all time, and after watching the series all the way through in 3 days I can safely say it still is.

Monster (drama type manga where a man is convicted of a crime he did not commit only to find the true murderer of these people and unravel a mystery that defies everything he stood for). If you love plot twist then Monster is for you. I can't really explain the story well enough for it to sound appealing so I suggest you just read it

Just to name a few.

I agree. I also don't care for the extended fights that some anime has.

That's one of the many things I do not like about Bleach. I only watch Naruto and Bleach for the action, not the story. I highly recommend Durarara!! It's a pretty awesome anime, though, I'm only on episode 6.

*agrees*

Gundam Wing: Awful, boring, and makes no sense whatsoever. You couldn't pay anyone to care or be attached to the one dimensional and uninspired characters. Deciphering the exact reason of why there is a war going on when everyone whines about "total pacifism" becomes a choir, as you would just want to say "stop fighting, and you can have total pacifism!" The action is the dullest of any japanese cartoon, several notches below even pokemon! Not only that but it was faaar to long. Several episodes occur but nothing truly happens in many of them, and they're supposed to continue a story. And is it just me or did one of the characters admire Heero when he tried to commit suicide? It's like the writers were trying to tell us how they felt when making the show.

Monster: I've only started watching in the middle of it (Chapter 57 I think) and I already love it for some reason. Though I can't help but feel contempt for Martin (just beats up Tenma for no reason really, and then when he dies, Tenma cries over him. Why?). To be honest, I kinda hate that really. A character treats someone like dirt, but in the end is somehow "redeemed" before they die, and that same tormented person ends up mourning for him/her. Must be a difference in culture or something.

Nice chart Zenith. That'll be my argument for that show from now on ;)

Honestly, Yuyu Hakusho is up there in my top animes. Problem was that it started out REALLY slow for me. The bit about the egg was just facepalm lame. It was generic anime 101 basically. When it got to the dark tournament, it really was getting good. Only thing it suffered from for me is never-ending-series-syndrome. The episodes were in arcs, but I have seen no disconsernable way the arcs connect except for maybe new powers and new characters carrying over. Also, the characters were kind of forgetable. The few that I remember vivedly were the one with the rose whip and the one with the sword. I could not name them for the life of me. I remember that the main character has some finger gun, but he was kind of a jerk which caused me to stop caring about him. The one with the sword was very layered, but annoying. The one with the rose-whip was very melodramatic, which I think every good anime series needs one of them. None-the-less, it was very good for the fight scenes alone. Nothing was too overdone...

Bleach-This one is definetly on my top 5 list of animes. IDC what anyone thinks. While it does suffer from never-ending-series-syndrome, the new arcs are all interesting. I just finished the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc, and I enjoyed it. The fillers in this show are very good, unlike that one show about ninjas who's name I am too ashamed of to say (not samurai Champloo or Afro Ninja). The fillers show more layers to characters and have some awesome battles. The bount arc expanded ishida to be able to take main-character status in my opinion. That guy is so hot. The Rebellion arc had some awesome battles and some interesting character designs (Muramasa was... awesome). I mean... anything that can get a Horse and a King to battle against their weapon and make it work is epic win!!! (those watching the series will know what I mean) Bleach is one of those symbolic animes where every character has a symbol associated to them (most being their weapons). You usually can't see that normally, but think about it. I'll name an few example... Toshiro has a cold, so he gets an ice-baced Zanpakuto. Some are more hard to see, but that's an easy one ;P

Death Note-Awesome anime at the beginning. Stop watching after the first season ends

Code Geass-Not enough good can be said about this one. It has two seasons of 25 eps each. Each episode is meaningful to the plot. You cannot go out of order. The anime is that in-depth. Each episode (especially the end of season 1) leaves it on a cliffhanger. I'd highly recommend taking out a weekend to watch the series. Just give you guys an idea about what Geass is about:

Generic Anime 101? YYH is an older "modern" anime/manga, being first written in 1990. It certainly wasn't cliche at the time of its creation.

The story arcs connect at the very end when it's revealed that (highlight for spoiler) King Enma has been sending demons to wreak havoc and then sending Spirit Detectives like Yusuke to hunt them down. It was all one big publicity stunt, essentially. And I'd hardly say that a 4-year series suffered from "never-ending-series-syndrome". It was only 19 volumes long, which is nothing compared to some other series.

Everyone hates the second half of Death Note, but I don't because I didn't particularly like L. But I'm the exception rather than the rule.

I never got around to watching Code Geass, mostly because the ending was already spoiled for me and I honestly didn't have that much interest in it.

I can't believe someone dissed Gundam Wing. What is wrong with you, psyburn D:< I'll give you Monster, though. Naoki Urasawa is amazing. (have you read Pluto?)

I take it you never saw the Dragonball series by Akira Toriyama? Goku would kick Yusuke's butt anyday! Out of my top 5 Anime's of all time, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball Kai are pretty much at #1. #2 would be One Piece and #3 is Pokemon.

Has anyone seen Rurouni Kenshin? It's arguably one of the best Samurai Shonen in history and I feel is on par with Samurai Jack even though it's not an Anime.

I don't think Naruto started to get really bad until after VoTE with Naruto vs. Sasuke. Then the 100+ filler episodes of utter crap ensued almost ruining the series (which I think it did), then came Part 2 (Shippuuden) with Sasuke taking over the series with Naruto Uzumaki(himself) becoming the worst protagonist in Shonen Jump history.

All that training he did to get to Sage Mode before he fought against Pain and after, really should've been done between Jiraiya and Naruto inbetween Part 1 and 2 of the series but the author's excuse on it was that Jiraiya was only training Naruto to maintain the Kyuubi's powers better which was also an important step to developing his character.

There's just so many inconsistencies and bad action in Part 2 compared to the rich quality of Part 1 of the series, The epic battle between Sandaime (Third Hokage) and Orochimaru which was great with hard work from the editors on it, then there was Rock Lee vs. Gaara at the Chunin Exams which was one of the best battles in the series by far.

I have, actually! But from a completely objective, non-nostalgia-induced viewpoint, I like YYH better.

Everyone whose an Anime fan has pretty much already seen DBZ, but after the Dark World Tournament I kinda got turned off from Yu Yu Hakusho after awhile.

Weird how Yusuke's demon form rips off of SSJ3 Goku. Then again Sonic the Hedgehog ripped off of the 1st form of Super Saiyan after attaining all 7 Chaos Emeralds so, yeah.

d. gray man is pretty cool

bleach is like a japanese action soap opera

but theres one i really like....

-katanagatari, it has flare a new art design style that's rather eye catching (nothing to fancy), but it has a sense or traditional art that make's me on edge when each 100minute episode come's out
-tatami galaxy, it's new it's artsy and it's good, very fast paced, very enigmatic, blah, blah, blahhhh
-heroman, it's very good for a Japanese portrayal of America, i can't wait for this story arc to be through (unless its the ful series then blah)
-fairy tale, its just something with over dramatization thats good to watch.
-durarara, current fav of the bunch, it's plot, use of character's, and story entice even if it's a story filler episode.
-Arakawa Under the Bridge, i love this show, i won't lie, it's very funny, stupid and has slight complexity's that make it a worth while watch.

Weird that based on a bit of digging, Yusuke's demon form actually predates SS3 Goku. But it's only a little difference, so I'm pretty sure that it was a coincidence. Super Sonic is a direct homage to Dragon Ball Z (just like the Death Egg is an homage to Star Wars).

Shaman King is pretty awesome.

And I couldn't tell you when the "real action" in One Piece starts in the anime, because I read the manga.

im currently reading my subscription of Shonen Jump. I'm really enjoying Ultimo i like the concept of it a lot. I own most of the Tsubasa Chronicles Manga books. I like those too seeing how the main character is wicked ownage. If any one enjoys these manga's be sure to reply and id gladly discus them with you.

Now I want to look at Code Geass.
(not because of swimsuit babes, Im a girl, and straight.)
Im checking that out.

anyways...
Keroro Gunso(Sgt. Frog):
The series starts out as a great comedy action series. The whole first three seasons are awesome! It has great comedy, but it somehow manages to include parts where you feel like crying too. I really don't have anything bad to say about it. Mine Yokazaki(the creator) is a genious. She comes up with many ideas that I haven't heard of. I doesn't get boring, which is the best part. It doesn't end on cliff hangers, (except for the serious episodes that come at the end of every season) but it makes you want to watch the next episode. I highly recommend this. Its very immature compared to other manga. Except for language, its pretty much PG.

Fruits Basket:
I attempted to look into this, but it was really...
really...
boring.

thats all I have to say folks.

I think the real action in One Piece either starts with Arlong or with the Arc where the Straw Hats fought against the CP9 to save Nico Robin. Zoro is just amazing and I'm sure his next fight against Hawkeyes Mihawk the world's strongest swordsman in One Piece currently will be epic.

Luffy vs. Rob Lucci, my God it's the best fight currently in all of One Piece. I was disappointed with Ace vs. Blackbeard cause the Anime didn't show much of the battle in detail. Alot of times Luffy has the best battles and so does Zoro. Sanji's most epic battle I think was during the CP9 Arc where he used some cool Kenpo move I forgot the name of it though.

Skypiea was decent and it drew my suspense and attention a bit of it. I still kinda enjoy watching Bleach but One Piece just literally keeps delivering all the goods. Never since DBZ have I enjoyed an Anime as much as I have with One Piece, Pokemon was pretty good too I admit.

It's one of the ONLY good anime dubs ever produced by 4Kids though every now and then these days it's decent. Kanto and Johto we're pretty good, though it kinda started to die down in the middle of Hoenn and Sinnoh is meh but it'll get better IMO.
