OK guys, no more discussion...

I gotta try and fit that into Magneboar XD

Personally I think Archeops is a bigger threat than Catcher since it shuts down Evolutions from being played just like Fossil Aerodactyl. If any card deserves to be banned it's not Catcher it's Archeops. A card that forces players to change their decks into running less Evolutions is not a good thing sure there's a few ways
to stop it but the choices are limited at best.

Mew Prime is probably going to see more play now no thanks to Archeops, and If that wasn't enough Celebi Prime could be used as a stall engine with Archeops/Vileplume where you can actually utilize Vileplume as an attacker with Forest Breath but If they have a Psychic Pokemon out like Mew Prime I don't think you'd
want to take the risk.

Archeops gets by-passes by Rare Candy. Thus, its impact will be minor;)

I think TPCi is still trying to determine the official ruling on that as we speak despite that Archeops hasn't been released outside of Japan yet. I guess I can ask my local League Organizer about that this weekend If I can since he's an official Judge for the Pokemon TCG.

It's either you can't use Rare Candy while Archeops is in play since the card does promote evolving
and Prehistoric Power says you can't evolve no matter what. It's not necessarily preventing the use of
the Trainer - Item Rare Candy or you can play it to try to evolve a Basic into a Stage 2 Pokemon but
nothing happens and the Rare Candy is discarded.

No it isn't. You will not be able to play Rare Candy whatsoever if Archeops is in play, since you are evolving from the hand.
@Card Slinger J: You can't play a trainer card if both players know it has no effect; therefore Archeops blocks Rare Candy as well.

Also, this thread is getting sillier by the minute. Now you want to direct your rage against Archeops since we're getting Catcher next set? What? What? Shall I chalk this up on the list of rants as well?

While we're on the topic of Archeops, I've heard there's a new card confirmed that basically acts like a permanent defender for any basic it's attached to. Man, they're really trying to shut down evo-decks aren't they?

Though you have a point, this might be a better turn for the "concerns about direction of the game".

No I don't expect you to do that, I don't want to get into any more trouble than I already have especially when I recently got a 50% Warning. I think it's best just to lock this thread since it's not going anywhere If anyone wants me to delete this thread I will to save the Mods trouble of locking this thread.

Last thing I want to know before putting this to rest is regarding Archeops, say If they have it out in play for Prehistoric Power and I Lost Zone Leavanny from Emerging Powers (the one with the Darkness Grace attack) and have Mew Prime use it to evolve a Pokemon from my bench, since Prehistoric Power says you can't evolve a Pokemon from your hand you can still evolve from your deck instead am I right?

How does that shut down Evo decks? It doesn't, All that Eviolite does is prevent any 20 damage to any Basic Pokemon that Pokemon Tool card is attached to so say you attach Eviolite to Zekrom and If you use Bolt Strike it only takes 20 recoil instead of 40. So yeah all it does is make Basic Pokemon a little stronger than they usually are, like I mentioned earlier Archeops can easily be countered with Lost Zoning Leavanny and using Mew Prime to evolve from your deck not your hand.

Gust of Wind sure brings back old memories. I actually still have this card and many copies of it too but I don't think the new card should be banned because technically Gust of Wind does not exist in our format today. This one actually replaces the GoW card since it can't be used in this day and age. I don't think this card should be banned just because it matches Gust of Wind exactly.:)

I'm not happy about pokemon catcher, but there's no way its getting banned. This debate starts every time a good card comes out, and ends when people start teching against it. Thats just the way it goes.

You are correct. Archeops prohibits evolving from the hand - if you evolve from the deck it's fine.

It you guys think about it Pokemon Catcher IS the new Gust of Wind. However I wish they had kept GoW under reprint because it was a very good card during it's time. Something has to change to keep the format imbalanced so this is how they do it nowadays They had to make the adjustment to fit the generation. GoW was a 1st gen card if you remember. This one is either a 4th or 5th gen card. They have to do changes somewhere XD.:)

Double Colorless Energy was a Gen 1 card as well, but yet they decided not to make Gust of Wind as Gust of Wind instead it's just Pokemon Catcher where you can't play your Old Base Set versions of GoW itself If you don't have any spare copies.

If you're going to reprint an old card from 10 years ago then why give it a new name? Why not just reprint it directly from the get-go know what I mean? They did the same thing with Pokemon Trader and
Pokemon Communication and they're doing it again with the new N Supporter and Rocket's Admin.

Same effect as old cards just different card names. They just don't want players to use older versions of the cards I guess so it's always been limited to Trainers, Supporters, and Energies. DCE, Copycat, Rare Candy, Rainbow Energy, Special Dark, Special Steel, etc.

The reason they can't reprint is because Wizards of the Coast was the maker of that card. When they stopped making the cards. The Pokemon Company took over the making printing selling and everything else Pokemon related and they now have control with Pokemon USA. That is why the cards was discontinued so to take it's place they had to make a cards that does the same thing under a new title. It is like selling an old company name and then making a new name for the company but having a similar product. In this case however that is basically what they did to fit today's format so there were no flaws with the newer cards and handling of the new cards. That is why they changed the name XD. You will find out when you are older that companies sell there old name to get a new one to stay in business. This is the case with the new cards XD.:)

Oh I didn't know you were going to quote that last post I deleted earlier, had I known that I would've kept the post on there. I'm not in trouble am I? -__-

My opinion is that Archeops shouldn't be banned because their is a ay to bypass its ability, which prevents evolving by HAND, but it's fine to evolve by DECK. and no, Pokemon catcher shouldn't be banned because you can just put Switch in.

That doesn't explain why PlusPower, Defender, Switch, Potion, Revive, Bill, and Energy Retrieval are still around...and all of those were first printed in Base Set.
