We have ourselves a nice core group of people at the beggining of the thread and as we progressed the applications have become more and more ridiculous. I don't mean to be rude but I think Holy Star should make his descisions, that way the new people showing up and trying out will stop. That or the criteria should be changed to have a minimum post count. If you can count your posts on your fingers and toes, don't apply. That is my opinion.
I laugh at this post. I was a member since May of 2006. I did go on a hiatus a few times due to reality-stops, or 'challenges' if you will. I have not been active for about 6 months to a year now. Doesn't mean I've never learned anything. Just clearing that up just in case you haven't 'heard' of me from the senior members who have.
I've heard of you don't worry. I used to lurk on these forums before I decided to join.
Anyway, I'll comment on what you said based on what I think, based on my experience as a Strategist here in the past.
My first comment will be on the first bolded line of words I have picked out. You're missing that you still have plenty of experienced members here on Pokebeach. I see Krucifer and zwelgberg applying again, since our last time working together. I don't see anything wrong with Mods being a Strategist also - Charizard has done it, I don't see why the others can't, unless they are not interested. Yes, we do have some people who left, such as Kaito, a previous Malaysian member and Strategist, as well as Charizard himself.
It was a generalization. I know that there are plenty of experienced members, note how I said that we had a nice core group?
Now, on the second bolded line of words, what's wrong with new members applying? I do see what the previous poster, omega_prime, is trying to prove. However, I don't see anything wrong with new members applying. Does that mean that a new member, joining just 2 minutes before reading this thread, can't apply? Is that what you mean? You need a 'long experience' as a member on Pokebeach to apply? You must be joking.
No I'm fairly serious here. Can you look me in the proverbial eyes and tell me that you think that everyone who applied, who has a low postcount, is actually a National Champion, or something to that extent?...No you can't. I don't say that these people are inexperienced or anything, in fact some may probably be better than I am. You must agree though, when I say that anyone can impersonate someone with a great record. There is no way to tell if the person will actually be as good as they say they are. So I don't think that they should apply, not because of their inexperience, but because there is no way to tell what they are capable of. For others, like myself, you can just click on our name and go back and look at our previous posts. You can tell what we can do. You can tell if we can write an article. If you don't like what we write, fine, but at least you KNOW we can write an article.
As for the last line I've bolded, no, just no. Period. The same thing applies as what I've said above. Must it be that a member with 0 posts have no experience in TCG whatsoever? No, it doesn't. What, you want to throw away new talent (if there is any) in being a Strategist, just because he doesn't post often? It's really a funny thing, to pick based on what they have on the forums than what they have in real life.
Anyway, don't get me wrong, I'm not applying, just giving my 2 cents as a former Strategist.[/b][/I]
Arguements in bold.
