Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U

Brawl had Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Lucario, and Pokémon Trainer (4 technically 6)
Smash 4 has Charizard, Pikachu, Lucario, Greninja, and most likely Jigglypuff (4 probably 5)

I'm sure that's enough.

The fact that Fire Emblem Awakening was a massive success it had to have a good number of reps, which now that it has 4, I feel that it has been properly represented. Robin will defiantly be my go to character in the game now.

This was not something I was expecting at all. I'm so excited for both Lucina and Robin, but I would have never seen this one coming! As a big fan of FE Awakening, I will definitely be using both of them when I play.
Plus, my OTP can fight side by side!

And I'm glad to see Captain Falcon's back. Seeing veterans confirmed is always welcome.

Now I understand why they put Ike in. It'd be a bit odd to have three out of four FE reps be from one game.

What's interesting is that the Gematsu leaker from a while back is wrong for the first time, with Chrom deconfirmed. It's pretty clear that he wasn't just randomly guessing and happened to nail 7(?) new fighters, so maybe he just saw the model for Lucina's Final Smash and assumed he was a character? Regardless, there's a possibility that the Chorus Men and Shulk aren't as confirmed as we thought.

I, personally, wouldn't mind a bit. More space for characters I actually want in.

edit: robin's final smash I mean

I forgot about Lucario. Twice.
But really, why would there be less Pokémon characters in this game than in the last?

Well Brawl had 4 SSB4 currently has 4 so 1 more would be fine but pushing it just a little. Also Pokémon trainer really just counts as 1 rep as it doesn't take any space in any way as more than 1 character. So if anything SSB4 would have 1 MORE rep than Brawl.

Guys Melee is big still because it was the breakthrough game of the series. I have not played for about 4 months though. But yeah that is why it is still big to this day.:)

Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening - I know people want Chrom, Lucina, or even Ike to return, but I'd rather have a FE character added that's not all about swords and more swords. Robin would be great, as (s)he can use tomes for ranged attacks, then use his/her sword for close quarters combat.

Man, I really wanted a Fire Emblem character that exclusively uses swords and nothing but. Thanks Sakurai! :^)

Lucina is also cool just for waifu reasons.

Why is robin a man and woman

Robin is the player's avatar so you can change the gender, voice, hair, name, etc. The first Robin shown in the trailer is the default for all settings and I guess canon, but since you can play as a girl the option was included to please fans.

The trainer has three Pokémon, all of which get their own Trophy when completing Classic and All-Star Modes. They also have different movesets and just because they don't take up three spaces, doesn't mean they count as just one Pokémon.

I know it's not much, but I just realized something... Brawl had 35 total characters. Smash Bros 4 has 36 revealed. If you include Falco, Ganondorf, Diddy Kong, Meta Knight, Jigglypuff, Ness, Lucas, Etc. then that means Smash Bros 4 will most likely have about 50+ characters! I know this isn't that special, but I'm just the type of person to enjoy the little things.

Well, they all rep the same game, as Pokemon Trainer and his 3 pokemon rep Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green (and, I guess sorta RSE since FRLG is a gen 3 game).

Kinda worried about the balance with that many characters, but with Namco Bandai helping out I'm optimistic that we won't have an MK/ICs situation again.

You'd think so, but in any competitive game there will always be an order of viability, and someone has to be at the top. Granted, in Brawl it was more like a dogpile with Meta Knight standing unreachable at the top, but we'll see.

With so many Characters revealed so far how do we know for sure which ones are still coming and which ones will be secret characters? If they are revealing the characters on the site I bet the secret ones have not even made it to smash yet XD.:)

I just noticed that in all the screenshots Robin has a Bronze Sword instead of a Levin Sword. On a different note, LUCINA AND ROBIN FINALLY GOT FEET!!

In the video, Robin mostly used a Bronze Sword, too. I don't know for sure, but my theory is that this might have something to do with a line that Robin says about Tomes being used up but keeping his/her Levin Sword for Back-Up; it's possible that if you use up all your tomes or something (waiting for a recharge or whatever regarding how that system will work), you'll switch to the Levin Sword. Or something. But I do think it's related to that.

Translation for us non-FE players, please? who are these new fellows? robin (robins?), lucina, who I hope dearly doesn't have the strength of ike and the speed of marth or I'm quitting right. here., and especially this falcon person, he doesn't seem to be from fire emblem, but... japanese; so I don't even argue that kind of things anymore.

Yes, I'm kidding about falcon. Completely serious about the other two (three?), though.

Robin is the playable avatar from the newest installment of the FE series. He/She (you can pick gender along with name and customizing physical attributes when starting the game) is a main character in the game and functions something like a PC, since he/she is effectively designed by the player. Robin is available from the very beginning, is not allowed to die, and plays a crucial role in the game's plot, despite not being a Lord (Lord being the typical class for the main character of an FE game; in this case, Chrom and Lucina are both Lords with Chrom being the main Lord). Robin is also unique in the sense that he/she starts out being able to use both Magic and Swords; traditionally in FE characters are either fighters or mages and very rarely do they mix (though some later available prestige classes do offer the availability to use magic and a weapons as well). The aspect Robin mentions about tomes being used up references in-game mechanics in FE; almost all weapons and magic tomes in various FE games have a certain amount of uses before they break, with weaker things having more uses and some powerful ones only allowed to be used maybe 5-10 times.

Lucina is another character from FE:A. She is a secondary Lord who appears early in the game but does not actually become playable until later. She initially appears as a masked fighter and takes the name of Marth, only to later be unmasked as a woman with her identity revealed (though there's more to her identity than just her gender and name, I won't spoil it here since it's plot-relevant). Because of her connection to Marth, I originally thought that she might replace Marth as an available character in SSB, or appear as a different skin for him; they're also both fast characters with smaller builds. I would be disappointed but not surprised if she ends up being simply a Marth clone, though I do hope that there will be something that distinguishes them.

Chrom, despite being the main character of FE:A seems to only be in the game in Robin's final smash.

So? The same thing could be said for Jigglypuff and Pikachu.
