So last night this happened... I don't know how I should feel about this...

I shall call him Mario the Villager. Original character; do not steal.

Anyways; that was certainly an odd clipping episode.

Why is the link not blue and how can you guys see the pic?:)

How can a toy of Mario be considered a "rehash" of Mario??

By making it be Mario in Super Smash Bros when you scan it on your console.

Amiibo could be used to introduce completely new characters, but they're just different versions of pre-existing characters at the moment. For example, a future Mewtwo amiibo could bring in a Mewtwo fighter. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Not really. I'd rather not have to pay $13 for the ability to play a single character.

That would be a complete ripoff and absolutely awful. I don't think you really understand what Amiibos are?

Btw. how do you guys who have the demo rate the power level of the characters? Imo:
Pikachu << Link / Mario < Villager/Megaman

Amiibos are custom CPUs. Lets say, they did make a mewtwo amiibo. You could have mewtwo in the game, but would only be able to train him, and not actually play as him. (Amiibos are not playable). If anything, they would make DLC for the game, which would be rad. I'd gladly pay 10$ for 2 characters and a few stages.

Amiibo character figures store data for custom fighters, but the first wave of amiibo character figures are based on already-included characters in Super Smash Bros. Amiibo character figurines could potentially store data for new characters too - stuff like the 3D character model, the animations, the movesets, and regular amiibo fighter data could all be stored in that little figurine pedestal. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

This would still be better than not having fan-favourite characters in the game at all. Introducing new characters via amiibo still doesn't seem bad to me.

"Amiibo or DLC" doesn't necessarily have to be a rule, but yeah, I fully expect new playable characters to come in as DLC too. Should be cool!

And yeah, Pikachu is awesome in the demo. Megaman sometimes comes kinda close, but that's due to it being able to disrupt my charging-up attacks as Pikachu.

I actually listed Pikachu as the weakest character. It just doesn't seem to have anything really special. But then again I'm maining Villager in this demo so obviously I'm biased. :p

So far....
Mario: OP against everyone, especially Villager and Megaman. Very hard to beat.
Link: Pretty powerful and overall pretty good.
Pikachu: Can't Thunderspam anymore, but he's not so good 1v1 as far as the bots have shown me.
Villager: So much fun! I'll main him! He's really entertaining to see fight, but I've had better luck 1v1 as him. I'm guessing he's best in 1v1 and Team.
Megaman: He's the easiest for me to beat as Villager lol. I think he's pretty balanced.

Oh, and these are the levels I fight them at...
Everyone but Mario and Mega Man - 8
Mario - 7
Mega Man - 9

Ok so shofu's stream of this game seems to have started "#Meaty" and I am all kinds of confused at the moment.

Yeah well Justin said "I'm gonna burst on these guys so hard! Gather 'round, guys, I'm gonna burst! Oh, I'm gonna burst! Oh! Oh! Aaaah!" when he was Wario farting on his stream. Smash Streaming is crazy.

Guys to get a complete roster you would be paying about $90.00 XD. Since Wii U games are like $50.00+ or something like that. Paying for extra characters is a ripoff and yet they are getting away with ripping people off. They are always finding ways to cheat. Cheating is bigger than ever now.:)

I'm pretty sure the time for caring about leaks is pretty much past for this game with pretty much the entire roster that came out before the game even officially came out in Japan (and even the rumored characters for DLC as well). If they really cared that much about it, it would had have a worldwide release on the same day.

dmaster out.

Well, Sakurai did say the reason subspace is cut for smash 4 is because of the leaks from
Brawl, so I am sure they are at least considering someone may leak it and not throw possibilty out the window.

Not really IMO. I saw that he cut it because people were watching cutscenes of it online and not playing the mode or caring about it (and a lot of people didn't) and that happens for a lot of games. I really didn't think that was a good enough reason to cut it in the first place.

Either way, my point still stands. They don't care about character leaks because the game came out in Japan before anyway. I mean, that's just being ignorant to not think that people will stream the game and know all the characters anyway. And that guy that leaked the characters/videos before that is whatever. They obviously couldn't predict that, but again, it happens with a lot of games like Pokemon, etc. and they really can't do anything to stop that. It should honestly just be expected at this point.

dmaster out.

Isn't the character base usually fused by fans who want them in the game or do people actually vote for the wanted characters? How does the character roster actually work and how are the characters actually picked for each Smash Bros game?:)

To the best of my knowledge, the Smash roster has never been a fan vote-based system, nor has fan demand every really influenced Sakurai. Just take a look: was anyone clamoring for Ice Climbers before Melee's release, or R.O.B. before Brawl's? No one that I knew. And all of the futile Ridley hype before every release?

Rosters are, for the most part, based on the more popular franchises -- each having the main characters that are the "face" of the franchise (Mario/Luigi, Kirby, Samus, Link, Pikachu, etc.). From there, depending on the size of the franchise, secondary characters or villains will be added (Peach/Bowser, Jigglpuff/Charizard, Zelda/Ganondorf, etc.) Any other representatives are usually pulled from the more recent releases (Lucario in Brawl/Greninja in Sm4sh, Roy in Melee/Ike in Brawl/Lucina and Robin in Sm4sh). Then, of course, each new game has added character or two to represent the earlier days of gaming (G&W/Ice Climbers in Melee, R.O.B. in Brawl, DHD in Sm4sh)...and since Brawl, third-party characters are now possibilities (Mega Man has a strong early history with Nintendo consoles, Namco was a developer of Sm4sh, hence Pac-Man's inclusion, etc.).

Ok Mr. Smiley, it's not by vote at all. Never was. That's just a bit of a thing people online say like its some election. The way it actually goes is they choose popular characters that Sakurai can fit into smash bros. This also includes characters from little known or used to be big Nintendo games that are now old. This not only promises fan happiness, but also provides the opportunity of reviving old games, like with Kid Icarus. However, this only applies to characters that can fit in. Characters that can't really fit, like Ridley, and those who are too much like clones, like Chrom, as well as those who are too sketchy or confusing, like Shadow, end up implamented in other ways such as bosses, cameos, Assist Trophies, and in Final Smashes. However, in some cases, the characters can be removed or not added all together due to no new games coming out on the consoles, or the characters simply not being needed anymore. Ice Climbers, which are possibly gone, were only added for the same reason as Game & Watch, Pit, R.O.B., etc. but weren't used enough or popular enough.

Then why did none of the Ninja Turtles or any of the Battletoads characters ever make it? If you know T.M.N.T that has been pretty big for years and Battletoads was a HUGE NES game for like 15 years so why did those characters not ever make it? 2 huge series forgotten maybe? No they had many chances to do this and they still have not done it. My question is why?:)

TMNT originated as a comic book which was then expanded into a show, toys, and yes, video games...but it isn't a Nintendo property, and there isn't a strong connection with Nintendo. The same can be said for Battletoads.

Bottom line? Not every game on a Nintendo console deserves a roster spot; there needs to be history between the character/franchise and Nintendo. A few big games on a console doesn't justify it.
