Your art is sweet, James.

Mess around with fonts, texts, different borders, etc. Mess with gradients too.
The more you mess with stuff the more you will know your program and the better you will get.
You using GIMP?

But excellent stuff James, I don't know why you keep saying you suck lol. Even though you're just experimenting with patterns from GIMP and PS, the Genesect renders/banners are still rad.

That skarm is REAL COOL. Did you make the black boarder with a special brush or just manually?

I use the pen tool in PS. Get a good shape, fill with color, then do again while placing pieces on top of each other. Like a puzzle I guess. I was trying to make vectors, but this guide i was following was so stupid I ended up here. Might as well do it like that I guess? I've been testing this style all night to see what looks best. ATM, I like the skarm the most, although I also like these:

I REALLY like it though. I do however think it would be better if one or two more shades were added to the background. Nothing that will ruin the style but just something smoother to the eye like the Groudon. I hope you carry in with that kind of stuff. It looks awesome!

I was actually thinking of doing that, but by the time I thought it over, I had already flattened and saved. I REALLY need to save a backup, un-flattened copy from now on; it's a terrible habit that I have trouble kicking.

I'm going to try shading when i get the time.
