Team Mutilation
VGC 2011

Jellicent(M)@Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid
EV's: 252 Spd 252 SpA 4 Hp
Ability: Cursed Body
  • Water Spout
  • Hydro Pump
  • Shadow Ball
  • Ice Beam
I have here, probably one of my main starters. The Timid nature, is to make him faster and to lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Spd to make him faster and SpA as all his attacks are special. The ability, Cursed Body, is because no one is stupid enough to hit a Jellicent with a Water type attack, so this one is the better fit. Water Spout is for STAB, and major first turn mutilation. Hydro Pump is for STAB and for when he's low oh Hp. Shadow Ball for STAB and to get rid of other Jellicents, as well as Musharna, Reuniclus, etc. Ice Beam is to get rid of Whimsicotts, Genies, Dragons, etc. The item, Choice Scarf, is so he can git in and hit hard fast, before he gets OHKO'd without even attacking.

Thundurus(M)@Charti Berry/Electric Gem
Nature: Timid
EV's: 252 Spd 252 SpA 4 Hp
Ability: Prankster
  • Thunderbolt
  • Thunder Wave
  • Protect
  • Hidden Power (Ice)

I have here, the possible other main starter. The Timid nature is to make him faster, and to lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Spd to make him faster and SpA as all his attacks are special. Thunderbolt is for STAB. Thunder Wave is to spread paralysis around their team. Protect is obvious. Hidden Power (Ice), is to get rid of other Genies, Dragons, etc. The item, is a toss up between a Charti Berry, and an Electric Gem. Charti will allow me to have more Hp from a Rock Slide, but Electric Gem can make Thunderbolt VERY deadly.

Scrafty(M)@Chople Berry
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 Atk 124 Hp 132 Spd
Ability: Shed Skin
  • Fake Out
  • Detect
  • Drain Punch
  • Crunch

Here we have an epic back up mon. The Adamant nature, is to make his attacks stronger and to lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Atk, as all his moves are physical, 132 in Spd to out speed the Genies in Tailwind, and the rest in Hp to add to his bulk. Fake Out, is for first turn flinch. Detect is obvious. Drain Punch for STAB and to regain Hp. Crunch is for STAB and to get rid of all Ghost/Psychic types. The item, Chople Berry, is to let him live after a Close Combat from a Terrakion.

Tornadus(M)@Flight Gem
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 252 Spd 252 Atk 4 Hp
Ability: Prankster
  • Acrobatics
  • Tailwind
  • Taunt
  • Protect

One of the most self explanatory spreads ever. The Jolly nature is to make him faster and to lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Spd to make him faster and Atk as his attack is physical. Acrobatics for a crazy strong STAB attack. Tailwind for support. Taunt to stop their support. Protect is obvious. The item, Flight Gem, is to make Acrobatics OHKO almost anything.

Terrakion(?)@Focus Sash
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 252 Spd 252 Atk 4 Hp
Ability: Justified
  • Close Combat
  • Rock Slide
  • Quick Attack
  • Protect

The other most explanatory spread ever. The Jolly nature is to make him faster and to lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Spd to make him faster and Atk as all his moves are physical. Close Combat, for uber strong attack, and STAB. Rock Slide, a multi-hitting, flinch making, STAB attack. Quick Attack for priority when he's about dead. Protect is obvious. The item, Focus Sash, is because he is OHKO'd too easily.

Bisharp(M)@Dark Gem
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 Hp 252 Atk 4 Spe
Ability: Defiant
  • Sucker Punch
  • Iron Head
  • Psycho Cut
  • Protect

This guy just owns. The Adamant nature is to up his Atk and lower his unused stat. The EV's are on Hp to make harder to kill, Atk to make his attacks even stronger, and the 4 on Spe make him faster then speed Amoonguss. Defiant destroys intimidate Krookodiles. Sucker Punch with Dark Gem can OHKO most anything not resistant to it. Iron Head for that STABy STAB. Psycho Cut for fighting types. Protect is obvious. The item, Dark Gem, is to make Sucker Punch destroy those Ghost type scarfers, and pretty much anything i want that is not resistant to it. I decided to add him because my scarf Jellicent was being owned by scarf Chandelures. Now those are no longer a problem. :D

Well, that's my team. It works well for what I've tested on PO.

Thanks for reading over my team. Leave any and all comments.

I'll do this pokemon by pokemon again, because that's just how I roll.

Jellicent: You stole my Jelly! D: For that reason, it looks good.

Thundurus: Fine. I see this set all the time.

Tornadus: See Thundurus

Scrafty: Consider using it as a lead sometimes, but otherwise a good set.

Terrakion: You stole my Terrakion and gave it a sash! 9.9 So it's fine also.

Bisharp: lol. The funny thing is, I hadn't seen Bisharp at ALL until I won with it and now it's everywhere. The one thing I would change on your Bisharp, Is Psycho Cut. Why? you might ask. Why change it's only counter to Fighting type attacks? To figure it out, you have to look at the fighting types you'll be fighting.

Terrakion, Base Speed: 108. So basically, Bisharp can't touch it unless Tailwind is up. And even if it is, Iron Head does more damage.

Conkuldurr: Will Mach Punch you into oblivion.

All of the other fighting types in the game are either faster, or never used. (In most cases both) I'd replace it with Stone Edge/Night Slash.

And I say this in all of your RMTs, but where's the Trick Room counter?!? This team will die to any Mental Herb Trick Room set up.

Please tell me you aren't serious about that Bisharp? Unlike other steels and dark types he is easily KOed by Earthquake. I would adjust the set to use Air Balloon since it would be so much better and run this set-up.

Bisharp(Male/Female): Air Balloon
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Inner Focus
EV's: 252 HP/252 ATK/4 DEF
Attacks:
~Swords Dance
~Sucker Punch
~Brick Break
~Stone Edge

Much more useful thanks to the fact it can avoid EQ and use Swords Dance to boost its already fantastic attack stat to a higher level and Sucker Punch ghosts to death or brink havoc with Brick Break and Stone Edge.

No offense dude, but do you know anything about this VGC metagame? ._.

The set he has is absolutely fine. First off, moves such as Swords Dance never really work out well in VGC because without a Focus Sash, Bisharp would be killed before even getting to set up. Second of all, Earthquake isn't really a common move in this metagame in the first place, the only main user of it is Landorus, and he isn't even used very often in VGC's compared to his other genie counterparts. A Dark Gem Sucker Punch is enough to kill Tornadus/Thundurus if they do not have an EV investments defensively.

lol, obviously you know nothing about this metagame.

The only Pokemon out of those four that is even remotely used is Haxorus, and he's pretty rare. Take a look at the Top 16 Pokemon used at each Regional: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3611877&postcount=21

Threats such as Thundurus, Jellicent, Tornadus, and Chandelure can all be KO'd by a Dark Gem Sucker Punch. Meanwhile, the only Pokemon that even carries EQ in a typical moveset is Krookodile. Look at where the four you mentioned place. Would you rather carry an item that probably won't even be useful most of your games, or get a OHKO on a common Pokemon in the metagame? Obviously, Dark Gem is more useful.

Golurk: 4
Emboar: 2
Excadrill: 0
Haxorus: 11

Haxorus generally Outrage and Rock Slide over Earthquake, because most are Choice Scarfed and locking yourself into EQ when Genies are the most common Pokemon isn't the best idea.

You also haven't considered that fact that since you're investing 252 EV's in HP and that it is a double battle, Bisharp has a possibility of surviving Earthquake's from several Pokemon.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but pokemaster is trying to qualify for Nationals and you're suggesting that his Bisharp is a joke, when that's probably the most common VGC Bisharp set.

You obviously have never gone headed to headed with my stall team. Dark Gem is a once use item. If you switch it won't be used again.

I know that. I'll gladly play you on the Skarmbliss server right now, because you seem pretty stubborn about your personal moveset. I have yet to even see a stall team work on VGC 11. PM me.

And even if it works for YOUR team, we're trying to help someone else's team here! Not your own stall team.

(Once use item, sure, but it gets one KO every game. Better than avoiding an attack that most Pokemon don't even use.)

keep on topic guys. my bisharp is what im using. and btw sp67, i do use scrafty as a lead sometimes. and he is also my tr counter. if i see them using trick room, i lead with scrafty and jellicent. i use either fake out, or crunch depending on if they are a ghost type or not. only problem with that is, if they lead with scrafty, or amoonguss and use rage powder/fake out.
and yes, for the lcq.

@Rivallz and Alphaninja: I have to agree with Rivallz. I run the same Bisharp and In all my testing, I die to Earthquake 1 out of 50 matches. As long as that Trick Room counter works for you, go ahead and use it. I say this all the time, but always consider an imprison Chandelure :p. It works wonders. I think that you'll do great, so good luck at the LCQ!

And by the way, No one uses a stall team in VGC.
