What are some funny or stupid textbook typos or outdated information that you've seen in your school books?

Erm. Can't exactly remember any at the top of my head at the moment, and I'm not sure that many else could as well :3

"Studies say that the Berlin wall will last for many decades to come. East Berlin is at the prime position to absorb West Berlin, allowing the spread of communism".

I cut that out of the textbook that I used last year. Only reason we used it was because it had a good atlas.

It wasn't really a typo, but a textbook in my CS class wanted us to study recursive loops. The computers are REALLY OLD, and all failed after doing an exercise involving lots of recursive loops. It was funny because we were all doing the same exercise at the same time, and all of our computers crashed at about the same time. The teacher thought we were being funny... but it really happened :O

In one of my Geometry text books, there was one of those standard "name the polygon" questions. One of the former users of the book penciled in "Bob", "Fred", and "George" under the polygons. Just thought that was funny.

I assume you used it for the physical atlas, for it seems a political one would still have the USSR listed, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia as one country each, and a complete lack of East Timor.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! XD I can just imagine all the computers dying in unison! I can also imagine the look on your teacher's face when he/she realised the school was going to have to pay for a lot of new computers! XD

Anyway, almost all the textbooks in most of my classes have stuff written/drawn on them by other students (let's not go into too much detail shall we - I'm sure you can guess what these people like to draw). And one time me and a group of friends were in the school library (no I'm not that much of a nerd, we just happened to be there), and we took out one of the books and squashed tomatoes/grapes/whatever into it before putting the book back. A week or so after that we returned and checked the book. As you can probably imagine there were dried up bits of fruit with juice stains on the pages. That was quite funny!

Nailed it. Sad part is, they're still going to be used.

I saw a textbook map that placed Liechtenstein between France and Germany. Ridiculous.

in fifth grade reading, it had a picture of Abraham Linclon and a bunch of kids had drawn nose hair on him. LOL.
Sometimes in the parts where it says: ''write your name here in ink'' kids put stuff like micheal jackson or Lady GaGa. lol

I had a textbook a couple years back that would say "Licktinstein" and "Air Massses", plus (sometimes) "Dubblinn".

idk if this counts, but my health book talks about abstenence, i thought church and state were seperated!
and i had a science book in i think middle school that said: the International Space Station is expected to be completed in 2005....at least i get all new textbooks this year, not ones from '03

edit: i am so writing the michael jackson thing in my friends textbook, lol
