You always get to pick a letter. The event tile of Seer simply lets you reveal one of the mystery tiles (1 or 2). Either one could be helpful - or harmful - later in the game.
Unrevealed mystery tiles cannot be selected on a spin. It is not necessary to use the Seer ability.

Ok, say I use my points to buy a vowel, will I still get 2 points for every letter of that vowel I get? (say I buy E, will I get 2 points for every E there is). Sorry, I've never really watched Wheel of Fortune before.
