Yeah the last night was basically entirely down to who Vom decided to kill. If he'd gone for Skeleaf instead, scum would have won. I really thought they had it too because Skyleaf had outed morda's role in thread.
I just hope the Kitsune faction was made up of equal parts each Challenge group. Imagine if it was all one group except one. >_<
But I don't think it was that way. ^_^

Factions were completely randomized. You can see who was all in each faction either in the night updates or on the spreadsheet. There were no Kitsune in the Phoenixes, but 2 in the Taniwha. Had it rolled all 3 to be on one team, I would have re-rolled, but that didn't end up being an issue.
Thank you very much for participating! I hope you enjoyed your time in the game. Please contact me privately if you would like a link to the Dead/Spectator QT to discuss the game behind the scenes.
Unfortunately, I was too busy/ill today to finish getting the next round ready, so I apologize. It should get posted sometime within the next 24 hours, unless something really bad happens.
For the next several days, the remaining 10 challengers indulged in a game of Kitsune Hunter. Not everyone really got into the game, but overall the participants had fun, and the game itself went down to the wire, with only 1 villagers and 1 kistune remaining. Everyone was biting their nails as the final day finished without a lynch, and the villagers sighed with relief as Beatrice chose to kill Morda, and he blew up in her face. With Mathas being the only player left alive, the game ended in a Villager win.
"Very nice!" The Queen congratulated the victors, clapping her hands demurely. "That was certainly entertaining to watch, and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. 7 of you are in the clear, but..." her gaze shifted over to Beatrice, Oliver, and TGK off to the side by themselves, "the kitsune have failed in their task, and therefore must eliminate one of their group. When you have made your decision, we will continue on to the next phase."
The following morning, the votes were accumulated, and it was Beatrice who stepped up to the dais to say her goodbyes. "It was my fault that the Kitsune lost. I should have remembered that Mathas said Morda was the bomb... I guess I'm not surprised that I got voted off." A tear glimmered on her cheek. "Thank you, Queen Athena, for the wonderful opportunity."
As Beatrice was escorted out, the other challengers gathered around, eager to hear what the next challenge would entail.
"As some of you have intuited," Athena began, "the next challenge will be the last challenge in teams. From then on out, you may work together occasionally, but it will primarily be a solo experience. Since this will be your last time within the teams that you have so lovingly created, I thought that it would be appropriate to honour the wonderful creatures that your mascots are based on.
"For Challenge the ninth, each team will be responsible for designing a creative piece to honour your respective mascots. There will be a list of rules for you to follow that you will find in your teams' common rooms. You will have ample time to create your entries, and I do hope that you will spend a lot of time on them, for you will have an extra important judge this time around."
The challengers looked at each other, wondering. Perhaps the judge would be another advisor? Or a previous player again? No one seemed to have any clue.
After waiting a few moments for the buzz of conversation to die down, the Queen continued. "The judge for this competition will be none other than King Consort Gapponius." She smiled. "My husband, and a lover of mythological creatures himself. I hope you will impress him, as you have impressed me. You are all dismissed."
In this challenge, each team will be creating a fake Pokémon (Fakemon) based on the mythological creature that is their team's mascot. Entries will contain a variety of information, including game information and artwork, and will be judged by the host's husband.
Instructions:
Each team will create and design one Fakemon based on their team's mascot. Each submission will have 2 parts: Text and Art. Full information about submission and what is required can be found in the sections below.
Once your Fakemon is complete, one member of your team must PM me all parts of your submission at once. CC your other teammates so they know everything has been submitted.
Players can use Scrolls of Summon Magical Assistant (SoSMA) to bring in other participants to help with Fakemon creation. Please see the SoSMA section below for more details.
The deadline for Fakemon Submission is Friday, April 8th at 5:30pm Central European Summer Time. That is the same as 4:30pm BST, 11:30am Eastern US time, 8:30am Pacific US time, or approximately the time of this post in your own time zone. If your team has not submitted a Fakemon by the time the deadline has reached, you will be forced to eliminate a member of your team as punishment.
Once all Fakemon have been submitted, they will be given to my husband for judging. I don't expect him to have time for judging until the weekend, which is why I'm giving you so long to complete your entries. Use your time wisely!
My husband will rank each entry from best to worst. The team with the worst submission will face elimination, and the team with the best submission will receive a very random prize from me.
Fakemon Submission Information:
When creating a Fakemon, there are certainly a number of aspects of Pokémon that you must keep in mind. For the purposes of this challenge, this information is given in 2 main categories that you must submit for your team's Fakemon: Text and Art. The Text section primarily deals with details and VG attributes such as typing. The Art section is a newly created piece of artwork that showcases your Fakemon. You must include both parts for one complete entry.
Text Details:
When designing your Pokémon, please name sure to include all of the following information:
Name
Pokémon Category (as in "(Name), the (Category) Pokémon")
Type(s) (maximum of 2)
Stage
Names of Other Stages (only if applicable; if your Fakemon is an unevolving Basic, ignore this step)
Gender Ratio
Egg Group(s)
Physical Description
Height/Weight
Pokédex Entry
Base Stats
1-2 Regular Abilities: Name and Description (can be existing abilities or you can create new ones)
Hidden Ability: Name and Description (can be existing ability or you can create a new one)
Signature Move (must be a newly created move; cannot use an existing move)
3 Facts or Trivia Pieces about your Fakemon
Art Details:
You must create a new piece of art specifically for this context. You cannot use found art from the internet or anywhere else, nor can you use an earlier artwork created by a team member. Otherwise, any kind of art you choose to submit is fair game: digital, physical media, sprite work, whatever works.
The art created must accurately represent the Fakemon you submit and match the given description (to the best of your artistic ability, anyway). It should be uploaded online (scanned or photographed if physical) and included in your submission PM as a direct link.
Judge Details:
As said above, the judge for this contest will be my husband. He does not have a PokéBeach account, so changes are the none of you know much about him. For the sake of him being a judge in this contest, I will share with you a few pieces of information:
He's a Pokémon fan, though rather casually. For VG, he played the first gen but only started playing later gens after we got together and I bugged him to. His favourite game in the series is Heart Gold, and his favourite Pokémon is Pikachu (2nd is Haunter). He also enjoys the early seasons of the anime and used to collect the cards back in the 1st gen days. He works in finance and is an amateur artist (and a rather good one). One of his main hobbies is video games, of which Zelda games are his favourite.
As a judge, he's Dutch and therefore very blunt, so expect honest criticism about your entry. Since he's an artist and a casual, I would probably expect you to get better results if you focus more on aesthetics and fun than competitive viability. Otherwise, I honestly have no idea what to expect. I was kind of surprised he agreed to judge when I asked him to do it in the first place.
If you have questions you would like me to ask of him, you can post in thread and I will do so, but I offer absolutely no guarantees that he will answer seriously and/or honestly, so take any answers I provide with a whole truck full of salt.
Scroll of Summon Magical Assistant: Use 5
(Each of you started with a number of Scrolls of Magical Assistant, a magic item that can be used to give you various advantages throughout the game. Each time a new use of the item is revealed, it will be posted about in the Update (like this section here and now), and also added to the OP for easy reference. Please Note: Each Scroll is single use only! Once you use a Scroll for any purpose it is used up and your total number of scrolls goes down by one. If you ever want to know how many scrolls you currently have available at any given point, feel free to ask.)
SoSMA 5: Summon Fakemon Helper! (Challenge 9 only): Your team may choose to hire a PokéBeach member to participate in the Fakemon challenge and help you. This member may help your team in any part of the Fakemon submission contest, so choose wisely and find someone who will fill in the gaps in your specialties: if none of you are good artists, you may consider hiring one; if you don't know the VG very well, look into finding someone who does to help with moves and stats. Hiring a helper in this matter costs 1 Scroll from every member of your team.
The formal process for this is as follows:
Find a person who is willing to help you and your team. The only restrictions are that they must be a PokéBeach member, and they must not be a current, living participant in the Challenge.
Once the person has agreed to help you, you must tell me who they are, and then they must also contact me (skype or PM) to tell me that they were hired as a helper for this Challenge and which team they are helping. This is so I know that all parties are in agreement.
One Scroll will automatically be deducted from the inventories of all players in a team that received a helper.
You can hire as many helpers as your team has scrolls available, but they can only help you for this contest and must abide by all of the rules.
If you have any questions about this particular use of SoSMA, please ask!
Otherwise, I think that's everything. Good luck and have fun, everyone! Post or PM me if you have any questions.
I've made a small edit to the Signature Move requirements. Thanks to Celever for pointing out my copy/paste error. This is what happens when I'm in a hurry.
Also, for the record, you can submit more than the requirements, if you wish, such as multiple artwork pieces, but doing so it not a requirement, obvs.
Also, in response to some other inquiries, your Fakemon does not have to be the exact same as your mythological creature so long as it is used as a base. Alternate versions of similar creatures (such as different interpretations in Western/Eastern culture) or alternate subtypes (such as how the Cynogryphon is already a subtype of the standard Gryphon) are allowed be used as a foundation as well. If you use such an alternate/similar creature, it may be a good idea to include its origin as one of your trivia/facts. And obviously you can change around various aspects of the creature as well, as you wish. Play around with typing options and see what suits you! Feel free to be creative.
Hey everyone, hope you're doing well and working hard on your entries! This is your official reminder that all entries are due on Friday, April 8th at 5:30pm Central European Summer Time. That is the same as 4:30pm BST, 11:30am Eastern US time, 8:30am Pacific US time, or approximately the time of this linked post in your own time zone. So, you've got a bit over 2 days remaining. If your team has not submitted a Fakemon by the time the deadline has reached, you will be forced to eliminate a member of your team as punishment.
If you have any question for me, or the judge, still plenty of time to get those in!
I sent in my team's submission like 3 minutes before deadline, so we're good. :U Thena told me that you two sent them in before that though, so it looks like we're all actually sending in our challenges on time now, which is a nice change from early in the competition.
I'm super hype to see what all of our submissions are like though! n_n Thena will naturally share them all when she posts results, but what do we think to sharing our submissions in the thread in the mean time? Naturally I can't force you to do anything, but I can ask really nicely and hope something comes out of it? :3
