All winners will start the game with an extra Scroll of Summon Magical Assistant. TGK, Luis, Vom, and Green will each start with 4 Scrolls; all other players will begin the game with 3. More information about these scrolls will be provided when the time comes where they can actually be used. And I'll be reminding you about them, no worries.
all elimination votes are due by Sunday, January 10th at 11:30am CET. That is the same as 10:30am GMT, 5:30am Eastern US time, 2:30am Pacific US time, or approximately the same time as this post in your own time zone.
This is approximately 23.5 hours from the time of this post, so make sure to get those votes in! If you are on a team that needs to eliminate a member and you do not submit a vote by the deadline, that will count as an automatic vote for yourself.
This is also the same deadline for any Scroll usage, if anyone wants to use a Scroll for a negative vote.
And the Taniwha have made their decision! I'm just about to leave to go cook dinner, but I'll put the finishing touching on the update and elimination announcement and have that posted up within a few hours.
The Aureolin Amphisbaenae and Palatinate Cynogryphons each went off to find a place in the castle where they could discuss in private who in their respective teams would be forced to leave. The Amber Phoenixes and Xanada Taniwha on the other hand were happy with the knowledge that they were all safe, and they spent their afternoons in leisure. Eventually, the time came for the elimination to be presented to the Queen, and they all progressed back to the throne room.
"Will the eliminated parties please step forward?" Athena called down.
Jackson of the Aureolin Amphisbaenae and Yeowie of the Palatinate Cynogryphons both stepped forward.
Jackson was wrapped back up in his oversized robe, a lollipop sticking out of the corner of his mouth. With the word of his elimination, he had stopped feigning respect and was content to act more like his typical self. "I guess I'm out on the streets again. Thanks for the opportunity and the nice meals, your highness lady." He finished up with a sloppy salute and stepped back.
Yeowie took a timid step forward, his quiver back on his back and a small traveling sack with his goods slung over the opposite shoulder. "I, uh, I guess I'll be heading back to Frymthwaite Forest then. Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in this challenge." He bowed forward deeply and then stepped back again.
"And thank you to both of you for your participation." The Queen smiled and nodded, gesturing with her hand and some guardsman stepped forward to accompany Jackson and Yeowie outside.
Once the eliminated members were escorted away, Athena stood and led the remaining challengers to the nearby banquet hall where they all shared a delicious meal together. Once everyone was sated with food and drink, the Queen tapped her glass for attention and everyone looked up at her, eager to hear about the next mission.
"The coming challenge will be more physical in nature than those you have worked on so far," Athena announced, her eyes clear despite the many glasses of wine she consumed with her dinner. "You will be performing in a relay race around the castle, carrying your team's banner for each lap. When one member of your team completes a lap, they will pass the banner on to the next member, and so on.
"Unlike previous challenges, this challenge will have a winner and a loser. The team who completes the most maps will win an advantage for the next challenge. The team who completes the fewest will eliminate a member."
She smiled. "But do not think you are necessarily alone. Your progress so far has already been spreading throughout the castle and the city, and each of you has admirers who may be willing to help you. If this happens, I may be persuaded to look the other way.
"For now, I wish you all the best of luck, and bid you to have a good nights rest to prepare for the coming trials."
@Keeper of Night has been eliminated from the Aureolin Amphisbaenae! @Yeowie has been eliminated from the Palatinate Cynogryphons!
Thank you very much for participating! I hope you enjoyed your time in the game. Please contact me privately if you would like a link to the Dead/Spectator QT to discuss the game behind the scenes.
Challenge 3 Banner Relay YPPY
Another traditional challenge, this one probably familiar to FG regulars, even if they haven't played in The Challenge before...
Instructions:
Read this post in its entirety to make sure you understand everything, and feel free to ask questions if there's something you don't understand. This is mostly aimed at the newbies, but old folks should make sure to brush up on their reading comprehension too. Failure to abide by the instructions and rules of the challenge may end up penalizing you.
This challenge is a YPPY challenge where teams compete against each other to create the longest posting chain. In this sense, it is similar to both the "Pass the Torch" game from previous challenges, or the "Count to X" FG games.
Please note that this challenge does NOT start right at the time of this post. Please see the timing section below for start and end deadlines.
Standard YPPY rules apply, meaning that at least 2 other players must post before you are allowed to post again. These people can be your team members or members of other teams, it does not matter.
Game Details: Each time you post directly after another one of your team members, your team scores 1 point, with your total number of points for a given chain equaling how many posts your team can make in a row. If someone from another team posts, this breaks your chain, and you must start over again.
The team with the longest chain at the end of the game will receive an advantage. The team with the shortest chain will be forced to eliminate someone.
This game will last for 72 hours (3 days).
During the time between when this post is submitted and when the challenge officially begins, teams may decide to spend Scrolls of Summon Magical Assistant to hire a spectator to help them with the game. Detailed information about this can be found in the section below.
Scroll of Summon Magical Assistant: Use 2
(Each of you started with a number of Scrolls of Magical Assistant, a magic item that can be used to give you various advantages throughout the game. Each time a new use of the item is revealed, it will be posted about in the Update (like this section here and now), and also added to the OP for easy reference. Please Note: Each Scroll is single use only! Once you use a Scroll for any purpose it is used up and your total number of scrolls goes down by one. If you ever want to know how many scrolls you currently have available at any given point, feel free to ask.)
SoSMA 2: Summon YPPY Participant (Challenge 3 only): Your team may choose to hire a non-challenger PokéBeach member to participate in the YPPY challenge and help you. This user will effectively count as a member of your team for the purposes of posting in the game and creating chains. Hiring a helper in this matter costs 1 Scroll from every member of your team.
The formal process for this is as follows:
Find a person who is willing to help you and your team. This person must be a PokéBeach member, and must not already be a contestant in the Challenge (current or eliminated).
Once the person has agreed to help you, you must tell me who they are, and then they must also contact me (skype or PM) to tell me that they were hired as a helper for the YPPY Challenge and which team they are helping. This is so I know that all parties are in agreement.
One Scroll will automatically be deducted from the inventories of all players in a team that received a helper.
This should go without saying, but each helper can only help one team.
This should also go without saying, but each team may only hire one helper, and they are only contracted to help for this challenge.
If you have any questions about this particular use of SoSMA, please ask!
Timing
To make sure that teams have enough time to hire helpers if they choose, the actual YPPY portion of the challenge will not start until Monday, January 11th at 8:00pm CET. That is the same as 7:00pm GMT, 2:00pm Eastern US time, 11:00am Pacific US time, or approximately the same time as this post in your own time zone. I will make a formal post to announce the start of the competition once it begins.
As mentioned in the instructions, the challenge will last for 3 days, ending on Thursday, January 14th at 8:00am CET. Like the starting time, that is the same as 7:00pm GMT, 2:00pm Eastern US time, 11:00am Pacific US time, or approximately the same time as this post in your own time zone.
And that's everything! Good luck, have fun, and please ask if you have any questions.
And the Challenge begins.... NOW! Have fun spamming!
