THE Durant thread: Durant NV.

Black Belt is useful because if your opponent has a single Pokémon attacking, Durant can actually drop a Black Belt and energy and knock out the Pokémon, and since most often there is a single Pokémon, Durant would win.

When would your opponent ever be stupid enough to leave out only a single pokemon with only 70 health left? If your playing someone that would do that, you deserve to win.

If they have a zekrom with 2 bolt strikes and are sweeping with outrage, depending on the situation, you can ko them to slow them down. Black belt is to steal those situational wins.

When playing again Durant, you usually just have one Pokémon so there are more Pokémon that can be discarded.

No, you don't...

ZPST: Pachirisu and Shaymin for faster setup
ReshiPhlosion: Typhlosion for faster setup and consistent Blue Flare
EelZone: Eelektrik for faster setup, maybe a Thunderus or Magnemite if you started with it
ZekEel: Eelektrik for faster setup
CaKE: Nothing here, but probably a benched Kyurem or Cobalion
The Truth and other Trainer Lock decks: A full bench in order to use Victini

Need I go on? Every deck uses support pokemon, and even if they didn't they would still be stupid to not lay down at least one other benched pokemon for exactly this reason.

Not quite. Benching Eel, Typhlosion, or just about anything with a retreat cost can be Catcher stalled with.

It is also just a situation tech.

Uh... What?

ZPST, sure.
Reshiphlosion never attacks with Blue Flare against Durant. Don't even pull Reshiram out of the deck. Flare Destroy and Will-O'-The-Wisp all the way.
Eelzone usually just goes aggro-Zekrom, and keeps a Thundurus or second Zekrom benched for when the first goes down. No Eelektrik.
ZekEel isn't really a deck.
Cake would pull two Landorus and nothing else.
Truth would pull Vileplume and attack with Terrakion or Cobalion. Victini goes down to Black Belt too easily.

So, cobalion and black belt isn't overkill? No one really answered my question.

If you really must KO the Zekroms, run 2 Rainbow energy and KO them with Rotom after they bolt strike twice.

^They always Eviolie, though. Most ZPST run three, and chances are they'll either start with it or you'll mill it and they'll Junk Arm it back. Unless you run two Rotom, it won't be reliable. I do like Prism in the deck, but Rainbow puts Durant back in OHKO range of Thundurus, Tornadus, and Landurus, even if it's Eviolited. These are three very commonly-used attackers against Durant (Tornadus to a lesser extent.) Prism will make the deck better, but for now I'm sticking with Black Belts.

The problem with Black Belt is you need two energies. That means unless you're ahead on energy attachments, you have to attach an energy to a benched Durant, pass without using Devour, and hope they don't have a catcher. If they do, you just wasted a turn.

You're rarely stuck without any energy on the board. The deck also tends to run 1-2 DCE if it's using Black Belt. Attaching hasn't ever been a problem for me.

It's not just for zekrom. It's mainly situational. Just to stall or something. I think I'll drop the black belt.

What was your question? I'm not seeing what you asked, unless it was a couple pages back.

I'd say Cobalion and Black Belt is overkill. Black Belt makes Durant almost as effective of an attacker as Cobalion is. Rotom can also be a much less resource heavy attacker that doesn't take up extra space in the deck.
